Chapter 3908: Only The Human Race

Chapter 3908: Only The Human Race

Having Wen Jun and the others submit the proposal to Xing Fan had been intended for them to serve as bait that would provoke Lu Yin into action, in order to see what he would do.

If he had acted without restraint or even received support from the Sea of Karma, Xing Fan had intended to set her grudge aside and pay whatever price was necessary in order to reconcile with Lu Yin. However, if he was instead punished by the Greater Sancti, everything would change.

Put simply, the proposal to reset the Tianyuan Megaverse had been Xing Fan’s final test for Lu Yin. It was to determine her future interactions with him.

However, she had not anticipated that Lu Yin would not only kill Wen Jun and the others who had remained on the surface, but also dare to attack her before the Frightened Sparrow Terrace. No matter what Lu Yin’s backing might be, the hatred that his actions had engendered could no longer be resolved. Fortunately, Greater Sancte Green Lotus was absent, so as long as Greater Sancte Awe Gate made her position clear, Xing Fan would be able to go all out. Even if she was unable to kill Lu Yin, she should at least be able to drive him out of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

However, there was one detail that the Lesser Sancte had been subconsciously ignoring: Greater Sancte Awe Gate had not intervened yet, not even when Lu Yin had killed Yue Bei right before the Frightened Sparrow Terrace. Xing Fan had deliberately chosen to overlook this matter, and she did not dare to think too deeply about it.

The moment that Lu Yin had forced her to kneel, she had been left with only one path of action.

She was terrified by Lu Yin’s strength, as it was a constant threat. Fortunately, she was a Lesser Sancti, which meant that Lu Yin most likely would not dare to kill her openly.

After staring at Xing Fan for a moment, Qing Yun looked around at the others present. “I am aware of your concerns. Rest assured that your decision will be Greater Sancte Awe Gate’s decision. Greater Sancte Awe Gate protects the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and can decide everything.”

Xing Fan let out a breath of relief and then turned to look at Wu Cheng and the others. “Everyone, this Lu Yin is from the lower three megaverses, and yet he has repeatedly trampled the dignity of our Nine Odysseys Megaverse! He destroyed the Autumnspring Slip and the Cheng family, forcing countless people to remain silent. Do you want him to remain here, so that he can harm others?

“Yesterday, it was the Autumnspring Slip and the Cheng family. Today, it’s me, Xing Fan. Tomorrow, it could very well be any one of you.

“This man is temperamental, ruthless, merciless, and also exceedingly powerful. Are you really comfortable with this?

“The Spirit Nidus is the foundation of our cultivation here in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and yet this man is preventing a resolution of the upheaval there. Such actions deserve death. Please make a decision and eliminate this threat once and for all, so that we can avoid future calamities.”

Xing Fan spoke sincerely, voicing her true thoughts on the matter. Regardless of her own grudges from the past, the fact that Lu Yin had dared to try to kill her in front of the Frightened Sparrow Terrace had truly terrified the woman. On top of that, Lu Yin’s strength was terrifying, and it far surpassed her imagination. Every word she spoke at this moment came from the heart.

However, no one responded. Everyone remained silent.

Xing Fan’s heart sank, and she turned to look at Dan Jin.

The other woman looked up. “You go too far with your words.”

Xing Fan’s eyes bulged as she stared at Dan Jin. This was a completely unexpected response.

Lu Yin also looked over at Dan Jin. Is that all the woman knows how to say? “Too far?”

Xing Fan was about to respond, but Qing Yun’s voice rang out first, “This is the Frightened Sparrow Terrace. Every word you speak is accountable to Greater Sancte Awe Gate.”

That comment instantly destroyed Xing Fan’s confidence. How could she be sure that Lu Yin was related to the unrest in the Spirit Nidus? She had merely been using that as an excuse to coerce others into moving against him. Qing Yun’s reminder indicated that if Xing Fan continued to recklessly slander Lu Yin, she would be the one to end up in trouble instead.

“I cannot be sure, but think about it. If Lu Yin has nothing to do with this matter, then why does he prevent the Spirit Nidus’s unrest from being resolved?”

Lu Yin sneered. He met Xing Fan’s angry glare with a look of absolute contempt. “Idiot.”

The woman grew furious. “Lu Yin, you’re too presumptuous! This is the Frightened Sparrow Terrace!”

Lu Yin sneered. “That’s precisely why I just called you an idiot. You should say less as your stupidity might upset Greater Sancte Awe Gate. After all, I hear that stupidity is contagious.”

Wu Cheng took two steps away.

Everyone looked at the man in astonishment. Even Lu Yin was a bit dazed. This old man was unexpectedly cooperative.

Xing Fan looked over at Wu Cheng, her rage beyond words. Damn him! He actually dares to humiliate me like that?

She wanted nothing more than to strike the man dead on the spot.

Noticing everyone’s stares, Wu Cheng gave an awkward cough. “My legs were growing numb, so I just needed to move around a bit.”

Xing Fan continued to glare at Wu Cheng before finally looking back at Lu Yin. “I know that you are a native of the Tianyuan Megaverse and that you are trying to protect it. However, after entering the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, you’ve accompanied the Seventh Odyssey Pillar around and seen the reality of the Aevum Inch. You should understand how difficult it is to survive in the cosmos. So what if the Tianyuan Megaverse is sacrificed? For the sake of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, any sacrifice is worthwhile. Could it be that just because you, Lu Yin, are from the Tianyuan Megaverse, that you refuse to accept this, despite the fact that this would resolve the unrest in the Spirit Nidus and eliminate the hidden threats to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?

“Mr. Lu, you roam about our megaverse, destroying the Autumnspring Slip and the Cheng family to get your revenge, and yet many have helped you along your way. Without the help of others, how could you have targeted Unaging Deity and the others so quickly after the Seventh Night Pillar returned? In your heart, is protecting the Nine Odysseys Megaverse your priority, or is the Tianyuan Megaverse more important, to the point of sacrificing the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?!”

Everyone turned to look at Lu Yin. Xing Fan’s words were quite sharp, and she was forcing the man to make a choice. Not only that, but no matter how he responded, he would be at fault.

If he chose the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, then what he had just done would be nothing less than blocking a resolution to the issues in the Spirit Nidus. As far as everyone was concerned, Lu Yin’s furious attack had been for the sake of the Tianyuan Megaverse. If he did not care about his homeland, why else would he have attacked?

If he chose the Tianyuan, how would he be able to retain any sort of status within the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?

Bai Xia observed Xing Fan with great interest. The foolish woman had actually become quite clever. In the past, she would have never been able to come up with such an accusation.

Everyone focused on Lu Yin, waiting to hear his answer.

Xing Fan let out a long, satisfied breath. She had not spoken her own words, but rather those of Yue Bei.

All along, the plan of using Unaging Deity and the others as bait to entrap Lu Yin while waiting at the Frightened Sparrow Terrace had been a plan created by Yue Bei. He had wanted to completely ruin Lu Yin.

It had to be said that Yue Ya’s disciple had truly been a master manipulator.

If all had gone according to plan, Lu Yin would have angrily killed the four men, and as long as he was not backed by the Sea of Karma, countless people throughout the Nine Odysseys Megaverse would condemn his actions, particularly because Unaging Deity and the others had suggested resetting the Tianyuan to eliminate all the turmoil in the Spirit Nidus. A few words to Greater Sancte Awe Gate might even prompt the Immortal to personally suppress Lu Yin.

As for Xing Fan and Yue Bei, waiting in front of the Frightened Sparrow Terrace had given them the perfect excuse to not save the other four men. Then after Lu Yin killed them, they would be able to pressure him with the accusation that Yue Bai had prepared beforehand, which would ultimately lead to Lu Yin’s fall.

But Yue Bei had never expected that Lu Yin would actually dare to attack the Frightened Sparrow Terrace, instantly killing the man. That meant that only Xing Fan was left to voice Yue Bei’s words.

Confronted by everyone’s eyes, Lu Yin replied with just one sentence. “In my heart, there is no Tianyuan.”

Everyone’s expression changed as they stared at Lu Yin. Was he abandoning the Tianyuan Megaverse?

A smile slowly started to spread across Xing Fan’s lips, but before the smile could fully form, Lu Yin continued to say, “Nor is there the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

“Nor the Spirit Nidus.

“All that exists is the human race.

“There is only the human race, struggling to survive in the Aevum Inch. There is only the human race that is acknowledged.

“Only if the day comes when the Nine Odysseys Megaverse no longer needs to hide itself from foreign civilizations will it be qualified to divide up this macrocosm. Until then, the Tianyuan, the Spirit Nidus, and the Nine Odysseys megaverse are all just the human race. I, Lu Yin, have said before that the human race comes first, and I will protect it throughout my life.

“Xing Fan, you keep trying to force me to choose between abandoning the Tianyuan, abandoning the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, or abandoning the Spirit Nidus. Do you think that one has to be abandoned? What are the three megaverses in your heart? What are the lives of the countless people who live in these three megaverses to you?

“Do you not realize that there is no division between the three megaverses in the eyes of the Immortal Greater Sancti? The human race alone takes priority. Since you’ve seen the truth of the Aevum Inch, then why is your perspective still so shallow? You are unworthy of being a Lesser Sancte. I called you an idiot because you are one.

“Cleverness founded on a narrow perspective is nothing more than stupidity.”

He spoke loudly, his voice echoing across the Frightened Sparrow Terrace.

Qing Yun and the others stared at Lu Yin in a daze. The human race alone takes priority... Was that really how Lu Yin thought? Did his perspective truly transcend individual megaverses?

Xing Fan’s face flushed red as she glared at Lu Yin. “You do nothing but lie, Lu Yin! You’re despicable! You actually dare to claim that you don’t care about the Tianyuan Megaverse?”

“Enough,” Qing Yun coldly ordered.

Everyone looked over at her, and Xing Fan’s face turned ashen as she stared at Qing Yun.

The young woman looked at the Lesser Sancte with cold eyes. “Do you have any evidence that Mr. Lu is responsible for the upheaval in the Spirit Nidus?”

Xing Fan pointed at Lu Yin. “If not for him-”

“Xing Fan, I asked if you have any evidence.” Qing Yun frowned, her expression growing increasingly cold.

Gu Duanke and the others were taken aback. This was the first time any of them had ever seen Qing Yun get angry. Why was she upset? Was it because of what Xing Fan had said, or... was it because of Lu Yin?

Xing Fan trembled as she lowered her arm. She took a deep breath and then sullenly replied, “No.”

Qing Yun frigidly stated, “In that case, do not bring it up again.”

Xing Fan immediately protested, “But he killed Wen Jun, Unaging Deity, and the others! They worked tirelessly to find a solution to the unrest in the Spirit Nidus, and after they finally found one, they asked me to submit a proposal to the Greater Sancti! But now, they’re all dead with no justification. This cannot just end like this! How will we explain this to the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse?”

Qing Yun looked over at Lu Yin. “Why did you kill Wen Jun, Immortal Undying, Lord Yan, Jiu Mu, and Yue Bei?”

Xing Fan stared at Lu Yin. No matter what, she had to make the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse hate this man. His casual murders and the fact that he was from the Tianyuan Megaverse were two points that could be combined to force the Nine Odysseys Megaverse to reject Lu Yin.

The man himself simply clasped his hands behind his back, looking as though he was contemplating his answer.

Gu Duanke glanced over. No matter how eloquently Lu Yin defended his actions, killing was still killing. There was no denying what he had done. Before killing the five men, Lu Yin had had no personal grudges against them. There was no way to justify his murder of them.

Among cultivators, it was true that the strong could bully the weak. It was an acquired ability. Still, a person had to be able to bear the consequences of their actions, such as being feared and hated by everyone.

Bai Xia also curiously observed Lu Yin. This man was not simply powerful, but also quite clever. It was understandable why no one was willing to offend him. Xing Fan really was foolish. Of all the people to provoke, she had chosen Lu Yin. It seems that she may have been a Lesser Sancte for too long. Her brain seems to have stopped working.

Dan Jin spoke up, “Mr. Lu, please give an explanation for your actions. The people of our Nine Odysseys Megaverse should not die without cause.”

Lu Yin looked up and glanced at Dan Jin. His gaze then swept over Qing Yun and the others in the terrace, before his eyes finally locked onto Xing Fan. “You want an explanation? Fine, I’ll give you one.”

With that, he raised his hand and started to reveal an image in the air.

The first thing to appear was a bustling city, filled with busy people. Many cultivators could be seen, indicating that the city was not a mortal city, but rather one where cultivators and mortals lived side by side.

“Nanshan City?” Wu Cheng exclaimed in surprise, recognizing the place.

Lu Yin nodded. “That’s right, Nanshan City. Now, this is the place.”

As he spoke, the image moved, and it zoomed in on a luxurious courtyard. There was a pavilion within that courtyard and a waterfall behind it. There were fish continuously swimming upstream, looking as if they were trying to leap over a dragon gate.

It was a perfectly ordinary scene, though quite a beautiful location. Still, the people looking at it did not understand what Lu Yin was trying to share.

Xing Fan frowned as she stared at the image, and her eyes started to quiver. Impossible! How can this be?
