Chapter 3822: You're Right
Qian Shu’s eyes narrowed. “The Ruler Garden was one of the greatest sects in our Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and yet just one excursion to the three megaverses caused them to be annihilated. And what about this man?” He pointed at Lu Yin. “He comes from the three megaverses and has already interfered in the contest for the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster, provoked my Autumnspring Slip, disrupted our Worldscript, and even led a disaster to our Nine Odysseys Megaverse. He’s committed one crime after another, and aren’t they worse than anything that Ruler Garden did?
“So, why was the Ruler Garden destroyed, while this man remains unharmed?”
“That’s right. Why is that?” someone questioned.
Many turned to look at the women from Deathmound. “That’s clearly not being fair to our own people. Is this really how Deathmound handles things?”
...
The women of the Third Peak directed cold glares at Qian Shu. The Ruler Garden’s destruction had not been as simple as the young man claimed. As for interfering in the affairs of the other three megaverses, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s interference was not acceptable. If every sect and clan behaved as the Ruler Garden had, the three megaverses would have never been able to develop even to the point that they had. While it appeared as though Deathmound was being unfair to the forces of their own megaverse, the truth was that the Nine Odysseys Megaverse blocked most foreigners from entering, and they looked down upon all three megaverses. The people of the Nine Odyssyes Megaverse believed that their own cultivation systems were far superior to anything that could be found elsewhere.
The Ruler Garden had not been punished to protect the three megaverses, but rather for the sake of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse itself. Qian Shu had simply twisted the narrative.
Additionally, while there was no denying that the Ruler Garden had committed a grave offense, it had not been severe enough to warrant their annihilation. The real reason why the sect had been destroyed was because of Chao Yi’s grudge.
The man had been offered an opportunity by Deathmound’s Great Master. The moment that the Ruler Garden had finally stepped out of line, there was no way they would be allowed to escape.
It was no different from how the Great Master had repeatedly reduced the Third Peak’s punishments. Deathmound had responsibilities, but they also had a strong sense of loyalty to their own.
The Great Master had once even said, “That’s just how we are. This is Deathmound. If you don’t like us, then fight us. If you win, the name of Deathmound will belong to you.”
Because of Qian Shu’s words, everyone looked at Lu Yin in a completely different manner. At this moment, their eyes were filled with hostility and resentment. Their attitude was not actually towards Lu Yin, but rather towards the Spirit Nidus. This was the culmination of generations of scorn and contempt for the other three megaverses.
Ying Mei let out a sigh of relief. This man had pushed the Autumnspring Slip too far, and this was the only way they could seize the advantage. As long as a person was alive, regardless of their cultivation level, reason and logic would always direct them. So long as the Autumnspring Slip was perceived to hold the moral high ground, it would be difficult for even people from the Sea of Karma to target them. Of course, Ying Mei’s greatest confidence stemmed from Lu Yin’s own statement. He had said that he had no connection to Greater Sancte Green Lotus. Lu Yin had personally revoked that support.
The next, and also the most crucial, step was to gain the young lady’s support. As long as she sided with the Autumnspring Slip, not even someone from the Sea of Karma would dare to cause trouble over this incident. Doing so would be the same as slapping the young lady.
Finally, Lu Yin had to die. No matter what it cost, Ying Mei would see him dead.
The Autumnspring Slip had never before needed so many justifications to kill someone. The fact that they wanted to strike but did not dare to do so was unbearably frustrating.
Lu Yin did not argue. Even he felt that Qian Shu made a point. It was true that Lu Yin had interfered in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s affairs, and Deathmound had not punished him for doing so. In fact, they had actually assisted him. If the Ruler Garden could somehow learn of this, their anger would rise to the point where they would rise from their graves. Regardless of the reason for their destruction, Lu Yin’s existence in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse was rather unfair to that sect.
Things were becoming interesting, and strangely enough, Lu Yin found himself feeling rather pleased. He had expected everyone in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse to be hostile towards him, but reality had been very different.
These people were unable to see the larger picture, but Lu Yin could. People like him and Greater Sancte Green Lotus had moved beyond petty hatred and instead focused on the broader movements of fate. To people like the Greater Sancti, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and the other three megaverses were basically the same; thus, such matters were unworthy of their concern.
But that was where Lu Yin differed from the Immortals; no matter how high he rose or how all-encompassing his perspective became, he would never belittle the Tianyuan. That megaverse would always be his home.
What was home? It was the place where those he cared about had been buried. That was Lu Yin’s home.
Due to the Autumnspring Slip’s string of accusations, Lu Yin became viewed as a public enemy.
He barely spoke a word after stepping onto the Autumnspring Slip and instead merely watched the performance unfold.
Lu Siyu and Ming Xiaolong were the ones who were growing increasingly anxious, but their nervousness served no purpose. They were not able to outtalk these people.
Ying Mei turned to the young lady. “Please bear witness to this day’s events. The Autumnspring Slip is acting out of necessity, for the sake of the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Even if doing so will see us bearing the hatred of certain parties, we will not hesitate.”
“You!” Lu Siyu was furious. It was perfectly clear that the “certain parties” mentioned were referring to the Four Commands Sword Sect and the Sea of Karma. They were being portrayed as the villains.
Qing Yun glanced at Ying Mei and then at Lu Yin. The young woman’s eyes were full of curiosity.
Lu Yin did not care about the accusations made by the Autumnspring Slip. Nothing that they said would alter the final outcome. Besides, even if they had not flung such accusations about, someone else eventually would have. He needed to claim the moral high ground, and because of that, these accusations needed to be confronted sooner or later.
There would be some people who sided with the Autumnspring Slip, but just as surely, others would object. What Lu Yin needed to do was find those who opposed the Autumnspring Slip’s position.
The sect had actually saved Lu Yin a great deal of time. What he needed to do now was establish his own authority.
Establish it so completely and thoroughly that no one could deny it.
“That’s not accurate,” a gentle voice said, interrupting the silence.
Lu Yin looked over and was surprised to find that Qing Yun had spoken up.
Ying Mei’s expression changed. “Young lady?”
Qian Shu, the other members of the Autumnspring Slip, the women of Deathmound, and even the members of the Luo family all turned to stare at Qing Yun. What had she just said?
The young woman calmly repeated herself. “That’s not accurate.”
She was looking at Qian Shu. “What you just said is wrong.”
Qian Shu’s expression changed, and he slowly bowed. “Please correct me, young lady.”
Qing Yun glanced at Lu Yin. “What do the High Seraph’s actions have to do with this man?”
Qian Shu opened his mouth to reply, but before he could say a thing, Qing Yun continued, asking, “Are the three megaverses even capable of plotting against our Nine Odysseys Megaverse?”
Silence fell over the crowd.
“So what if he’s colluded with the Four Commands Sword Sect? What has that even accomplished?”
Still, no one answered.
Qing Yun continued, “Finally, where would he have found an Immortal beast? If he was actually capable of doing that, the three megaverses would have been erased long ago.”
Everyone listening exchanged glances. That was an excellent point—where could an Immortal beast have come from? If such a creature truly existed among the three megaverses, would their presence not have prompted one of the Greater Sancti to step in? There was no way that Lu Yin could have found such a beast, much less lured it to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
In just a few short questions, the crowd’s attitude dramatically changed yet again. Qing Yun’s voice was like a cool mountain stream that flowed through everyone’s hearts and washed away their prejudices towards the three megaverses. All of the animosity that had been stirred up was instantly erased.
Lu Yin wanted to laugh. While he had genuinely no idea where that Immortal monster had come from, he was very clear on the fact that he had indeed led it to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. At the very least, that accusation had been completely accurate.
But given other people’s understanding of things, the truth was the most unbelievable accusation that Qian Shu had thrown at Lu Yin.
Ying Mei’s eyes flickered. “In that case, may I ask your thoughts on the matter, young lady?”
Qing Yun calmly replied, “If he wants to gamble with you, then do so.”
She then looked at Lu Yin. “I think that your words are right.”
Lu Yin was stunned. What did I say?
Lu Siyu and Ming Xiaolong were both dumbfounded. Their greatest fear had been that the young lady would side with the Autumnspring Slip. How had things flipped around so completely? Wait a minute... could they actually know each other?
The two women suddenly remembered what had happened in the lotus pool in the Sea of Karma and then gave Qing Yun an odd look before looking back at Lu Yin.
Ying Mei had not expected Qing Yun to support Lu Yin. The Autumnspring Slip had twisted the truth in order to leverage the overall situation to their advantage, but when it came to influence in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, who could compare to this young lady?
When she spoke, it might as well be a final judgment.
Lu Yin had also not expected Qing Yun’s support. Then... could she really be the Qing Yun that I know from the Spirit Nidus?
If she was, then she should not be helping Lu Yin, given how frequently he had bullied her.
He stared at the woman and asked, “Where is Qing Xiao?”
Her expression shifted just slightly. “Do you still want to make a bet?”
Lu Yin gave Qing Yun a long, deep look and then finally turned to Ying Mei. “It doesn’t matter to me.”
The old woman’s face once again portrayed a calm appearance. At this juncture, gambling was the most advantageous option that the Autumnspring Slip could take. She was no longer certain of the young lady’s opinion, but Qian Shu could never be turned over to Lu Yin. “Very well. Since the young lady has spoken, then if you want to gamble, the Autumnspring Slip will oblige you.
“Name the stakes.”
“I already did: I want the lives of Qian Shu and that wretched servant.”
Ying Mei clenched a fist. “And what price are you willing to offer?”
Lu Yin’s lips curved into a smile. “What do you want me to wager?”
“I want your life!” Ying Mei snapped.
Everyone stared at where the two stood. Their wager was not the same as what had been discussed before. It was impossible for either of them to simply walk away.
Lu Yin laughed. “They’re not worth my life, but if we add your life to the pot, I might be willing to agree.”
Qian Shu clenched his teeth. Bastard!
Ying Mei nodded. “Fine. I’ll bet my life as well. I will ask that you be honest in these proceedings—should you lose, your life will belong to the Autumnspring Slip. Everyone here! Please bear witness!”
She then turned to Qing Yun. “Young lady, I would ask that you serve as a witness as well.”
Qing Yun looked at Lu Yin. “I can do that.”
Ying Mei looked back at Lu Yin. “How do you want to conduct this wager?”
“That’s up to you, but the simpler and faster, the better,” Lu Yin replied.
Ying Mei nodded. With a casual wave of her hand, dust gathered and formed a die that spun in the air above her palm. “We’ll guess what number it lands on. Whoever guesses right, wins. What do you say?”
Lu Yin nodded. “That’s fine.”
“For the sake of fairness, we can give this die to someone of your choosing, who will isolate it from all external forces,” Ying Mei continued.
Lu Yin turned to Qing Yun. “Give me a hand?”
Qing Yun did not refuse. She stretched out a hand, and the die slowly fell into her palm, still spinning. As her fingers wrapped around it, she said, “You may begin. There will be no limit on the number of attempts. Whoever guesses correctly first, wins.”
“Will you go first?” Lu Yin looked at Ying Mei.
Ying Mei shook her head. “One of our disciples will participate. We of the Autumnspring Slip act with integrity. There is no need for me to personally participate.”
Even as she spoke, a small, young female was pushed out from among the disciples. She was clearly very nervous.
Ying Mei looked over. “Go on, make your guess.”
The girl pursed her lips. “Yes, Sect Master.”
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. It was clear that this girl had been deliberately pushed forward. He had been keeping a careful eye on the other members of the Autumnspring Slip, and before, this girl had been standing in the furthest corner, where she had been barely noticeable. Someone had deliberately forced her out into the spotlight. The incident had been too intentional, and if Lu Yin was not mistaken, something had already happened. It had to be something related to luck.
Wan Lou had claimed that the Autumnspring Slip was able to alter luck with the characters that they drew. At this moment, it seemed likely that all of that luck had been transferred to this young disciple.
She had a cute face, and given how readily apparent her nervousness was, as well as how she had been standing in the corner, there was no doubt that she had been arranged to look like the underdog. This was no different from when the Autumnspring Slip had previously bet against Ming Xiaochou. The sect excelled at manipulating others’ perception.
Given the situation, if the girl won the bet, no one would accuse the Autumnspring Slip of foul play.
Ying Mei sneered. The fairer the game that they bet on, the more advantageous the situation was for the Autumnspring Slip.
Over the course of countless years, no one had ever been known to manipulate something as elusive as luck. How could anyone hope to compete with something like that?
“Go on, make your guess,” Ying Mei urged the girl.
The young disciple nervously glanced at Lu Yin, but she hesitated to speak. “F- Five. Five pips.”
Lu Yin released his Karmic Dao, which consisted of the power of karma itself. A spiral of karmic energy directly entered the young woman’s body.
The moment that happened, the girl cried out, “Wait!”
The crowd was puzzled, and Ying Mei frowned. Everyone stared at the girl.
The girl reconsidered. “I- I think... that it’s six pips.”
Qing Yun stared at the girl. “Which is your choice? Be precise.”
“Six pips,” the girl firmly stated.
Qing Yun turned to look at Ying Mei.
Ying Mei nodded. With how luck was on their side, no matter what number the girl stated, it was guaranteed to be correct.
