Chapter 3814: Rectification?
100 characters meant nothing to the Autumnspring Slip, aside from showcasing their generosity.
Given that Deathmound’s Third Peak always created a commotion during every Worldscript, it was even possible that the Autumnspring Slip had always intended to release more characters and had simply kept 100 in reserve for when Deathmound arrived.
Yu Ru clapped his hands. “Very well, the Autumnspring Slip is truly generous. Ladies of Deathmound, do as you please. Even in the worst case, the Worldscript will simply have a reprieve, hahaha!”
The nearby Autumnspring Slip disciples laughed in a mocking manner.
Deathmound’s three mountains and seven peaks all had specific missions assigned to them. With so many members of the Third Peak gathered in Ridgeplain, it was inevitable that their missions would be delayed. If those delays caused them to fail entirely, the entire Third Peak would suffer. As for the Autumnspring Slip, they merely needed to wait a short while. That did not matter to them in the least.
The women from Deathmound’s Third Peak looked grim, but they had to accept the situation. Every time they tried to make trouble for the Autumnspring Slip, the sect resolved issues in the same manner. This was quite normal. Unless the Autumnspring Slip actually violated any rules or sheltered someone else who had, the Third Peak could not do anything of note. The sect was not foolish enough to give Deathmound any footing.
Far away, Long Yin continued to stare at the Autumnspring Slip with eyes as cold as ice.
Chao Yi had been very lucky. He had been waiting for Ruler Garden to step out of line, and the moment they had, the Great Lord had authorized Chao Yi to erase the sect completely.
If the Autumnspring Slip dared to commit even the smallest infraction, the Great Lord would give Long Yin the same opportunity. Unfortunately, the Autumnspring Slip was far too cautious.
Someone had once suggested that Long Yin frame the sect. She had broken that person’s legs and tossed them out. Deathmound did not resort to dirty methods.
She would wait, even if she ended up dying of old age.
On the bamboo slip in the sky, Qian Shu stood with his hands clasped behind his back. He was surrounded by cultivators from many major factions; some were members of older generations, while others were juniors.
Many who looked older were actually Qian Shu’s peers. The length of time that he had spent sleeping in the Scion Spire had created the illusion of a generational gap between him and his peers.
“Deathmound is getting out of hand,” someone commented. “The Great Sancti granted them vast authority to hunt down criminals, but now they are using that same authority to bully others. When we return, we must report this incident to the Greater Sancti and see Deathmound be punished.”
Others agreed. “Absolutely. The Third Peak has gone too far.”
“Those women are far too fanatical. That incident happened so long ago and has already been investigated. Why do they still remain obsessed with it?”
"Even if they’re trying to stir up trouble, they should target the Spirit Coalition or the White Jade Clan. Why do they always have to come after the Autumnspring Slip? Brother Qian Shu, please don’t get upset. It’s just a group of petty people."
Qian Shu smiled calmly. “I’m not upset, as it’s just a misunderstanding. Still, for Long Yin to continue to cling to that matter after all these years, she risks compromising the greater good for a petty grudge. She’s the lord of Deathmound’s Third Peak. Once I become a Lesser Sancte, I will make sure that Deathmound is restructured. It exists solely to serve the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, not serve as someone’s instrument of revenge.”
“Well said, Brother Qian Shu! Truly worthy of the Autumnspring Slip.”
“Compared to you, Qian Shu, Long Yin is much too small-minded. I can’t understand what the Great Lord sees in her. She can’t even see the truth, and she’s completely blinded by hatred. For such a person to become a peak lord? It’s ridiculous.”
“Brother Qian Shu has the broadest vision! Hmph, those women are a disgrace to our gender.”
“Restructure Deathmound? You really dare to make such a claim, Qian Shu?” A melodious voice interrupted the conversation, drawing everyone’s attention. Some grew annoyed and were about to reprimand the speaker, until they saw who it was. That caused everyone to bite their tongues.
Qian Shu turned and was dazzled by what he saw. He smiled. “Sister Siyu! What brings you here? Your father just became the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster. Surely, there’s much to handle within the Four Commands Sword Sect. Could you use my help?”
Lu Siyu had arrived. She had learned about Ming Xiaolong’s request for Lu Yin and was absolutely certain that he would soon be creating a new commotion. Naturally, she wanted to join in on the fun.
She glanced sideways at Qian Shu. “What could you possibly help with? You’d just make things worse.”
Qian Shu did not get upset. “As long as Sister Siyu gives the word, I’ll do my best with anything I can to help.”
“No thanks. I’d rather not cause my Four Commands Sword Sect to be scolded because of you,” Lu Siyu retorted with a scoff.
A gold glint flickered across Qian Shu’s eyes, though he did not argue. He was aware that this woman disliked him because of the matter with Ming Xiaochou. After all, her sister, Ming Xiaolong, was the fourth of the Seven Fairies. Her identity had long since been a sore point that the Autumnspring Slip had been wary of. There was no denying that they had essentially offended the Seven Fairies.
That was a group of enemies that even the Autumnspring Slip was wary of.
While the small crowd continued to flatter Qian Shu, no one dared to offend Lu Siyu. The Seven Fairies were famous throughout the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Each had a powerful background, and they all were connected to the Sea of Karma. Even just being Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s nominal disciple was terrifying to most people.
The Seven Fairies were nothing like Deathmound.
“Huh? Sister, why are you here?” Lu Siyu’s eyes lit up as she looked into the distance. There was a woman quietly standing there. She was the same stunning young woman in whose presence even Qian Shu grew subdued.
The young woman glanced at Lu Siyu and nodded to her. “It’s been a long time.”
Lu Siyu warmly grabbed the other woman’s hand. “It hasn’t been that long! What have you been doing lately? I haven’t heard from you at all.”
“I was training in seclusion.”
“Oh? Then what brings you here?”
“I got bored and needed to get some air.”
“Then you’ve come to the wrong place, Sister. This place is even more boring, and it’s full of boring people.”
The young woman glanced over at Qian Shu and the others. Everyone forced smiles onto their faces as they tried to appear friendly. “You’re wrong, Sister.”
Lu Siyu blinked.
“No one’s life is easy, and everyone survives according to their own methods. Regardless of whether you like what they do, it’s still their way of life,” the woman calmly stated. There was no expression at all on her face, her eyes remained placid, and yet her words managed to stir people’s hearts.
The words spoken by her gentle voice flowed like water through people’s hearts, giving them a sense of peace.
Everyone offered respectful bows to the young woman, and no one spoke another word.
Even Qian Shu bowed.
Lu Siyu chuckled. “Sister, your words are so profound! Why don’t we go for a walk?”
The woman moved to the edge of the Autumnspring Slip and looked down from the mirebound artifact. “We can see life in all its forms below from right here. Why should we go elsewhere?”
Lu Siyu felt helpless. She actually had a reason for attending the Worldscript: getting this woman to leave. Ming Xiaolong had waited for more than a month, all for nothing. Ultimately, she had been forced to ask Lu Siyu for help. Unfortunately, Lu Siyu discovered that she was also unable to do anything. This woman’s thoughts were completely incomprehensible.
She was practically an eccentric.
Below the bamboo slip, directly beneath where the young woman was standing, Lu Yin had just learned a bit of history from Ming Xiaolong. She had shared some details regarding the lord of Deathmound’s Third Peak, the Autumnspring Slip, and the White Jade Clan.
Long Yin, the lord of Deathmound’s Third Peak, had lost her mother to the White Jade Clan. The woman had died during the destruction of the Voidclear Megaverse while fighting against the Third Night Pillar.
Given the circumstances of her death, people assumed that she had died in battle. However, the truth was much darker. After surrendering to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, the White Jade Clan had ambushed and killed Long Yin’s mother out of spite.
It had happened after the White Jade Clan had already surrendered, and yet they had still attacked. Long Yin's mother had been completely unprepared and had died a miserable death. Long Yin had watched her mother die with her own eyes. She had escaped with the last remnants of her mother’s power and had intended to expose the matter. Success would have resulted in the White Jade Clan’s destruction.
Long Yin could have never imagined that the Autumnspring Slip would cover the incident up.
By the time she had fled back to the Third Night Pillar to reveal the truth, the Autumnspring Slip had already established as fact that the woman had died from her previous internal injuries. There had just happened to be people from the Autumnspring Slip present in the Third Night Pillar at that time, so it had not been difficult to cover up the attack. As for Long Yin, she had just been an ordinary cultivator at that time. Without her mother, Long Yin had been nothing. How could she have possibly fought back against the Autumnspring Slip?
Even when she revealed the truth, no one believed her.
She had even sought out her mother’s friends to have them investigate, but nothing had come of that either. The White Jade Clan had not lashed out in a fit of rage, but rather carefully planned the ambush. With the Autumnspring Slip’s help, it had become impossible to uncover the truth. As more time passed, it had become increasingly unlikely that anything could be found.
Eventually, Long Yin had joined Deathmound, and she had gradually risen through the ranks, finally becoming the peak lord of the Third Peak. She had then dedicated herself to keeping an eye on both the White Jade Clan and the Autumnspring Slip.
The White Jade Clan rarely revealed themselves in public, which gave her few chances to confront them. Given their status as surrendered creatures from a foreign megaverse, they were forced to act with great caution at all times.
The Autumnspring Slip was entirely different. They frequently hosted their Worldscript, which made it much easier to create trouble for them.
Every time, women from the Third Peak would accompany Long Yin and make trouble for the Autumnspring Slip. Despite always being punished later by the Great Master, the Third Peak had never once backed down.
“No one can say for sure whether or not Long Yin’s mother was killed by the White Jade Clan after they surrendered. Long Yin’s claim is the only shred of evidence, and no one believed her. Time passed, and the matter eventually faded from everyone’s memories. If Long Yin hadn’t managed to become the lord of the Third Peak and continuously targeted the Autumnspring Slip, it really would have been completely forgotten,” Ming Xiaolong concluded.
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. “So, is her story true or not?”
Ming Xiaolong shook her head. “While I personally hate the Autumnspring Slip and know that they are more than willing to act without honor, I really can’t say for sure. There’s simply no proof. If anyone else had witnessed the event, then maybe. Unfortunately, Long Yin was the only witness.”
“I believe that it’s true! The Autumnspring Slip is just too despicable,” Shui Su interjected.
Ming Xiaolong sighed. “Even if it is true, without proof, nothing can be done to the Autumnspring Slip. No matter where you go, might makes right. If Long Yin becomes the Great Master or even a Lesser Sancte, then no one will be able to stop her from getting revenge.”
Lu Yin observed the women from the Third Peak who were still harassing the Autumnspring Slip disciples. He finally understood what was happening.
They were willing to die if it meant that they could kill Yu Ru. These women were too devoted to Long Yin. The entire Third Peak was fully united. If not for Deathmound’s duties, the Autumnspring Slip would not have had that easy a time of things.
Lu Yin also believed that Long Yin’s story was true. Someone who could inspire so many women to disfigure themselves and fully devote themselves to her service could not be a fraud. Additionally, Lu Yin already had his own grudge against the Autumnspring Slip.
He had already seen through Qian Shu’s hypocrisy, so he was not surprised to hear the Autumnspring Slip be accused of other despicable acts.
Still, Long Yin’s matter had nothing to do with him. Lu Yin was determined to wipe out the Autumnspring Slip, but that had nothing to do with anyone else.
Across the region, women from Deathmound’s Third Peak continued to cause trouble. They deliberately picked fights under the pretext of hunting criminals. Their actions infuriated the Autumnspring Slip disciples, but those disciples were unable to retaliate at all. Further away, fights occasionally broke out, accompanied by a periodic palm strike falling from the sky with enough force to shake the earth.
“The Five-Palm Art? Why are those people fighting here?” Ming Xiaolong asked in confusion.
It did not take long for her and Lu Yin to understand the situation from the nearby conversations.
Lu Yin was speechless. He had never expected a single casual palm strike of his to spark a conflict between the Brocade Clan, the War Clan, and the White Jade Clan. After all that, they were now joining forces to attack the Five-Palm Sect.
“Our Brocade Clan demands justice! No matter what conflicts might have taken place in the outside world, such things have nothing to do with us. The Five-Palm Sect has gone too far this time, attacking us without any cause. Is there no justice left?” a nearby angry voice shouted. It was someone from a group of members of the Brocade Clan.
In the center of the group stood a handsome man. The Brocade Clan was known for their good looks, but even among them, this man was one of the best looking. Many nearby women’s eyes lit up when they saw him.
Shui Su exclaimed excitedly, “That’s the Brocade Clan’s Xiu Zhan!”
Ming Xiaolong glanced over. “Are you really that excited? Do you want me to have him come over and say hi?”
Shui Su was startled. “Do you know him, Sister Xiaolong?”
Ming Xiaolong snorted. “He’s just a minor figure from the Spirit Coalition. No one in the Everchange Valley takes the Spirit Coalition seriously. If I tell him to come over, he wouldn’t dare to refuse.”
Shui Su gave an awkward smile. “That’s not necessary.”
