The Evolution of a Goblin to the Peak

Chapter 1200: Heaven’s Calamity

Chapter 1200: Heaven’s Calamity

With a thunderous boom, Eztein lunged forward, his spear driving straight into Spatial Whisperer’s chest.

"Ugh!!" Spatial Whisperer coughed out a mouthful of blood as a crushing wave of pain tore through his mind.

"You almost killed me before! Now it’s my turn!" Eztein roared. Elemental force and dream power surged violently around his spear, spiraling into a blinding eruption.

The unleashed power smashed through Spatial Whisperer’s defenses and ripped open the space behind him, the shockwave blasting straight through the cave’s ceiling.

BOOM!!!

...

Somewhere in the cave...

Doranjan had been flying nonstop. At last, he found a passage that looked like it could lead outside.

"I wonder what Eztein is doing. Knowing him, staying alive shouldn’t be a problem even if trouble shows up," he muttered.

He knew Eztein’s strength, far greater than what he usually showed. During their journey to this land, Eztein shared what he had gone through in the four months after the great battle.

But what bothered Doranjan now was Esriel’s sudden disappearance. It was as if she had vanished into thin air. There wasn’t a single trace of her anywhere in the cave.

Doranjan was certain she had been with them when they stepped into the teleportation array.

"Then there’s also another problem..."

He looked up, a deep frown carving into his face.

He had been sensing intense energy fluctuations from above, powerful signatures, likely from high-level experts. Whatever was happening outside... it was far worse than he expected.

Still, he had to get out and warn the others about the Gluttony Army.

Doranjan bent his knees and shot toward the passage. What he didn’t realize was that two figures were silently pursuing him from behind.

...

In an unknown space...

A woman with chestnut hair and a pair of white wings stood motionless in the middle of a void.

She was Esriel.

Esriel gritted her teeth as she struggled to move, but a powerful force bound her in place. She couldn’t even lift a finger as only her eyes and mouth remained free.

"What is this place...?"

She cursed under her breath, scanning her surroundings. The ground was covered in a thick, dark liquid that rippled like living shadow. Before her rose a massive altar, surrounded by colossal statues, each one depicting a being shrouded in darkness, with rows of jagged teeth and countless, unblinking eyes.

Esriel regretted ever stepping into the teleportation array.

"You’re here..." a calm voice echoed through the void.

Her eyes widened. The voice was unfamiliar yet painfully familiar. Memories she had long buried surged up like a tidal wave, making her entire body tremble.

"Esriel... You changed your name to Charla, didn’t you? Why did you abandon your post and hide behind that new identity? You even went back to using your real name, Esriel Georagnisus."

She forced her head to turn. From the side, a figure emerged, draped in a dark robe.

The man’s appearance was quite similar to her own, same chestnut hair, and same eyes. The resemblance was unmistakable.

This man was her brother: Esquin Georagnisus, the one known as the Ruler of Gluttony.

"What are you doing here?!" Esriel roared at her brother.

"What am I doing here?" Esquin replied calmly. "I’m here to take back what’s rightfully mine." His eyes rested on her, cold, emotionless, unreadable. He shook his head, then turned away. "Tell me, do you know where we are?"

"You—!! Release me!!" Esriel shouted, straining against the invisible force.

"This is the Tomb of Gluttony," Esquin said, continuing toward the altar. "We’ve been here before... but you don’t remember any of it. Don’t worry, you will, soon enough."

He paused and glanced back at her, his expression unreadable. "My sister... you’ve grown."

"Don’t call me that!! I’m not your sister!!" Esriel snarled, her eyes blazing with fury.

"You said you would cut ties with me... even went so far as to change your name to Charla. You became a General-rank officer of the Dominion—a position only a Tenth Shackle Realm angel can hold. And yet, you threw all of that away... just to take back the name Esriel."

Esriel fell silent, her gaze fixed on her brother. The hatred in her eyes was raw and unrestrained.

"This is the place where the former Ruler of Gluttony perished," Esquin continued. "And it is where the power of the Heaven’s Calamity resides."

His footsteps echoed as he approached the altar.

"Do you know of Heaven’s Calamity? A powerful being from long ago, one who fell under the combined might of the Administrators." Esquin paused, his tone quieting, as if recalling a distant story. "He challenged the world after learning the truth... the origin of Imperium, also known as the World Amalgamation, countless eons ago."

He raised a hand, gesturing to the darkness around them.

"Eras upon eras passed. Living beings explored their universes, and some eventually broke free of them. When they discovered other universes, war followed, an endless conflict spanning existence itself."

"One by one, victors emerged. Those who reached the highest states of being managed to break through their own Boundaries, the layers that housed countless universes. At that time, they became known as Boundary Masters."

What followed next was war.

Again, it was a war.

Boundary Masters clashed endlessly, their battles stretching across countless years. From this chaos, Outworld Masters emerged. Boundary Masters ruled only their own Boundaries... but an Outworld Master ruled an entire Outworld, which contained countless Boundaries.

Yet even that did not end the fighting.

The war raged on.

In time, a powerful universe was born. All Boundaries, Outworlds, and the universes within them were drawn together, merging into what would later be called the Mother Universe.

As the Mother Universe reached completion, something else occurred: the underworlds of every universe fused into a single colossal, terrifying domain that enveloped the souls of all creation, the Soul Realm. The same phenomenon happened to every Dream Realm, merging them into one vast, unfathomable Dream Realm.

It stacked upon each other and the other thirteen higher dimensions were created, each layer was more perfect than Boundary and Outworld.

"That’s what Heaven’s Calamity discovered," Esquin continued. "He challenged the world, intending to split it apart once more. His power was so immense that it took multiple Administrators to erase him. Did you know there are Combat Administrators? Even they had to join the battle."

Esriel couldn’t find her voice. She was overwhelmed by the weight of the story yet she sensed that her brother wasn’t lying.

All she could manage was:

"Why are you telling me all this?"

Esquin turned to her, his gaze sharp. "It’s because you already know all of this. You see... you are the key. The key to reclaiming what I lost."

Esriel’s brows knitted in confusion, unable to grasp his meaning.

Esquin raised his hand. A surge of energy erupted outward, swallowing the entire space. In an instant, Esriel’s body was ripped from its position and transported to the center of the altar. She gasped and she hadn’t even realized it had happened.

"What are you trying to do?" she demanded, fear threading through her voice.

"To take back what I lost," Esquin replied coldly.

A heartbeat later, agony exploded through her body.

"ARGHHHH!!!"

Her scream tore through the void. It felt as though her entire being was being burned alive while unseen hands rummaged through her organs, twisting, crushing, tearing. Pain flooded every nerve, every thought, every corner of her soul.

Esquin stared at her calmly. "Back then, we arrived in this secret realm... to this very place. I was already the Ruler of Gluttony, but my strength... was still weak."

Images flashed in Esriel’s mind as the searing pain continued to ravage her body. Her limbs trembled uncontrollably, and her mana erupted outward like molten fire.

Esquin extended his hand. Glowing runes formed a circular pattern in the air, spinning and pulsating with ominous energy. He pushed forward and twisted his wrist with deliberate precision.

"Ohm!!"

"ARGHHH!!"

Esriel’s scream tore through the void, growing louder with every heartbeat.

A red-and-white sphere slowly emerged from her stomach, hovering in midair. Her body crumpled to the ground as she violently expelled everything she had consumed.

"Huff... huff... huff..."

Her chest heaved violently, beads of sweat dripping down her face. The images in her mind sharpened, each memory returning with brutal clarity. Slowly, painfully, she remembered everything that had happened back then.

Long ago, she had been just a teenager, her strength barely reaching B-rank. Her brother, Esquin, was already a formidable figure at the Seventh Shackle Realm. Together, they had been exploring when they unknowingly stepped into an unknown teleportation array, arriving at this very place.

"I told you back then that I possessed a power..." Esquin’s gaze fell on her, still trembling on the ground. "It was here that we first discovered the power of the Heaven’s Calamity. Everything in this place explains what the Heaven’s Calamity uncovered, and the very power here attempted to seal us within it."
