Warning: Gore (not explicit but… erm)

We were now in front of the mountain that Demiurgos-sama had ‘hinted’ for us to go. According to Fer, the mountain was called ‘Berith Mountain’.

A deep forest spread out from the foot of Mt Berith.

“From here on, it’s all Black Baboon territory, so be sharp.”

““Ou!””

““Sui will defeat lots~~!””

“W-will it be alright…? I mean, I can’t help but be worried…”

“Good grief, why are you still acting like a weakling? You have Absolute Defence so you won’t even be injured.”

[8] “I know! I mean, I know this intellectually but after hearing what you and Dora-chan said about them I don’t feel safe at all! [5] Didn’t you just say there are a lot of them?!”

“Humph, they would never pose any real threat to us,” [7] sniffed Fer, as though offended by my very weakness.

[8] Well, excuse me!

““It’s fine, we’ll just tear the lot into pieces,”” said Dora-chan carelessly.

“Dora…”

““Sui will protect Master~ Master don’t worry~~””

I guess… everyone’s pretty confident?

I know that everyone’s strong, but why I do still have this nagging feeling that something bad is about to happen…

“Uwooohhh!! Uwaaahhh!!”

Our party was currently being chased down by Black Baboons.

These Black Baboon monsters were truly fearsome.

As soon as we stepped into the forest that was rumoured to be their territory, we were immediately surrounded by black-furred monsters about two meters tall.

By surrounded, I mean, there were countless Black Baboons on the ground around us, even more were in the trees and higher grounds.

Worse, they were all screaming and screeching at us with bared teeth.

To be honest, I nearly wet myself with fear.

[9]

The only reason why I haven’t was because Fer, Sui and Dora-chan were perfectly calm in the midst of the screaming, screeching and gnashing of teeth.

“So, you’ve appeared,” said Fer as he calmly lifted his forepaw and slammed it down with a Claw Slash attack.

A section of the black wall that was the seething bodies of Black Baboons suddenly disappeared…

… along with the trees, rocks and whatever that was caught up in that attack.

Fer dashed forward, with me clinging to his back, towards the gap in the formation.

“Uwooohhh!! Uwaaahhh!!”

I screamed as I desperately clung to Fer’s back as he dashed through the trees at tremendous speed.

Black Baboons chased after us from behind. I could hear their strange screams and screeches behind us.

I could sense my familiars speaking to each other through telepathy but the Black Baboons were throwing rocks now, making it impossible for me to focus on anything but rocks drumming off Fer’s barrier.

““F-fer, how long are we doing to keep running?”” I shot the message desperately to Fer through telepathy.

““Depends on how fast Dora and Sui can reduce their numbers. I shall go on the offensive when enough of them have fallen.””

From the corners of my eye, I spotted Dora-chan forming Ice Spears with his wings and sending them into the thick of the black herd while Sui was shooting out Acid Bullets at the speed of a machine gun.

““Hahah! How many have we taken down? About half? Woahh!! Gimme moarrr!!! Come at me!!””

““Sui will also take lots of them down~~!””

[9]

““Fuhaha, Dora and Sui are quite motivated. We’ll come to a vacant spot ahead. Let’s hit the rest of them there.””

““Ou!!””

““Yes~!””

““No, no, no, what’s this about hitting the rest of them? Just shake them off! Shake them off!””

Why are my familiars so into battles? Was it due to Vahagn-sama’s Blessings? [5] Wait, Sui didn’t have that blessing…

““Right, speeding up now,””

““Haaah? Wait, what?! Uwaaahhhh!!!”” [5]

The wind pressure was making it hard for me to keep my eyes open, but the sound of Black Baboons chasing us was still audible.

“Uvo, uvo!”

“Geh geh geh!”

“Uvo, uvooo–!”

[9]

In an attempt to distract myself from the weird screaming, I sent a telepathy to Fer, ““H-hey, how do you know there will be a vacant spot ahead in a forest like this-””

““It will be there,””

““But, how do you- uwaaahhh!!!!””

Fer suddenly sped up again!

[6] I decide to just close my eyes and become a limpet. I am a limpet, a barnacle clinging to Fer-

““Yes, we’re here,””

““Here? Where’s here?””

I cautiously opened one eye and sure enough, there was a large clearing deep in the forest where no trees grow. The vacant area was about the size of two soccer fields.

There was a huge troop of Black Baboons inside the clearing.

No, it was more of a great seething mass of Black Baboons.

“Uvo, uvo!”

“Gya gya gya!”

“Uvo, uvo, uvooo–!”

Birds flapped away in response to the horrible screeching. [8] I wish I could also fly away with them…

““Hm, the numbers have been reduced by a lot,”” mused Fer.

““This is a lot?!”” I mentally screeched. Too exhausted to screech out loud. Not that I would have been heard with all that noise from the Black Baboons.

““Ou! I did my best!””

““Sui too~~!””

““Right, now for the finishing touch,””

As soon as Fer said that, a tornado suddenly appeared in the middle of the black seething group of Baboons.

“Uvo?”

“Uvoo? Uvo-!!”

One after another the huge bodies of the Black Baboons seemed to float gently into the air as the tornado rotated.

However, the moment a Black Baboon touched the spiralling tornado, it was shredded to pieces.

“Geh!” I was horrified!

““Relax, that’s just my wind magic.”” Fer was looking intently at the tornado. ““There are too many of them, this is the best way to deal with the lot.””

“……” in fact, the tornado basically worked like a giant blender, turning Black Baboons into a red slush the moment it touches them. ““Hey, isn’t this a bit too cruel?””

““Master, the spinning wind turned red~~!”” Sui bounced excitedly beside me.

“Erk, yeah, I could see that…”

“This should be enough,”

As soon as Fer said so, the tornado slowly collapsed.

What had once been a giant troop of Black Baboons was nothing more than a pool of blood, bones and meat.

“……” it was really quiet.

“Right, time to move on,” said Fer suddenly.

““Ou!””

““It’s over~?””

“No, no, hold it, wait a second!”

“What now? Black Baboon meat is no good, they don’t have magic stones and their fur is bad,”

“No, that’s not why, I- I’m not thinking about the materials but don’t you think that this is, is… you know, kind of… tragic?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Their fate was decided the moment they chose to attack us. It is the same as those dungeon creatures.”

“I mean, I guess that’s true but-”

Dungeon creatures that have died would disappear, leaving a Drop item just like a game, but this…

This was not disappearing.

““If you’re worried about wastage, their corpses would feed low-level creatures or return to the earth,”” said Dora-chan.

To Fer and Dora-chan, this tragic situation was a matter of course to them. After all, this was a world where the strong live well by trampling on the weak.

I thought I understood that…

However, that deep red tornado manifested like something out of a nightmare…

[9]

“By the way, Fer, how did you know this vacant spot?” I asked in a desperate bid to switch my attention elsewhere.

“Mu, well, I did get into a tussle with them before,”

[8] “A tussle? You mean…” I took another look around the vacant spot. “Wait, a tussle? Here? In this spot?!”

“Umu,”

Feeeeeer, what the heck did you do…?
