C216: Captives
Tang Zheng recovered his consciousness and discovered that his entire body was in pain, as if his bones were broken and his muscles were torn apart – he had never experienced this kind of pain before.
He let out a painful groan, and was barely able to adapt to the pain. He then took a deep breath and slowly opened his eyes. His eyelids were heavy, as if filled with lead. He finally opened his eyes, and a dim light entered his eyes.
The images in his field of vision converged slowly on his retina. It was a dimly lit wooden hut, with wind blowing in from all sides and light filtering through the cracks in the wood.
Tang Zheng laid on a cold wooden bed, his body was tied up to the bed, causing him to be unable to move.
"What's going on? Why am I tied up? Didn't Mu Hongyan and I fall off the cliff together? Shouldn't I be dead? Could this be the Ghost World?"
No, Tang Zheng had heard a bit about the Ghost World from Tian Chanzi, and this was definitely not the Ghost World. Moreover, after death, a person would become a ghost, so how could he be so clear-headed and remember everything that happened before?
"I'm still alive!"
Tang Zheng immediately came to this conclusion. Even though his body was in unbearable pain, this news still made him incomparably excited.
As long as he didn't die, there was still hope.
But who had saved him, why had helped him, and where was this?
A series of problems came one after another, giving him a splitting headache. It seemed like his injuries were too severe, he couldn't even think about it anymore.
"Let me first circulate my Kung Fu to check on my body condition."
Tang Zheng hurriedly circulated as the energy within his head dimmed. The purple colored flame was smaller than before and the energy within his body was almost depleted.
The bones of his arms and legs were fractured, and a few of his ribs were broken. His muscles were also torn, and even his internal organs were shaken and displaced. If he hadn't used his energy to protect all the important parts of his body, the situation would have been even worse.
He could not help but smile bitterly. His body's condition had never been so bad before. Even if he wasn't tied up, he wouldn't be able to move at all.
However, the key thing now was to find out where this place was. Was the person who had saved him an enemy or a friend? What about Mu Hongyan?
"Anyone there?" he cried feebly.
Creak!
The door was pushed open and a young man with a gloomy face walked in. His pair of eyes were as bright as a falcon's.
"Thank you for saving me. May I ask where this is?" Tang Zheng seeing the person finally let out a breath of relief as he anxiously asked.
The young man said nothing, looking down at him like a tiger staring at its prey.
Tang Zheng felt his heart skip a beat, this gaze is not good, I didn't do anything bad, is there a need to be so hostile?
"Hello!" Tang Zheng once again attempted to say hello.
The young man remained unmoved, causing Tang Zheng to suspect if he was a mute. His gaze met and after a moment the young man coldly asked: "Who are you?"
Tang Zheng let out a breath of relief, since the man had opened his mouth to speak then he had a way to communicate, hence he hurriedly said: "I am an ordinary person, falling off a cliff. When I woke up did I come here. Did you save me? Thank you, and I have a companion. How is she?"
The young man did not answer.
Tang Zheng felt that the situation was bad, could it be that Mu Hongyan had died? After that, Nannan would become a true orphan.
"She's alive." The young man suddenly said, and Tang Zheng almost rolled his eyes. It almost scared me to death.
"You're a liar, not a good person." said the young man firmly.
Tang Zheng froze for a moment, how did I become a swindler and you don't even know me.
"You're lying, you're not an ordinary person at all." the young man said.
"Not an ordinary person." Tang Zheng felt his heart tremble as his face became solemn. Could it be that the man discovered something? Before he could think about this question, the sound of footsteps could be heard coming closer and closer. An old man was escorted by a group of people as he walked in.
This old man had a head full of snow-white hair and a long beard. His face was full of wrinkles and his face was somewhat pale. However, his eyes were filled with wisdom and seemed to be able to see through people's hearts.
The old man sat down in front of the bed and stared straight at Tang Zheng before asking in a friendly manner: "This little brother, you fell off the cliff and were saved by my clan members while they were hunting. Now you are safe."
Tang Zheng secretly said in his heart that it may not be safe ,but the others did save him so he hurriedly said: "Thank you for saving my life."
"I have a few questions to ask you, little brother." the old man said politely.
He was the meat on the man's chopping block now. Tang Zheng of course had no way of rejecting and softly said: "Please ask."
"Is this your sword?" The old man took out a sword and asked.
Tang Zheng's eyesight constricted when he see his Battle Soul Sword and he did not expect it to fall into the other's hands but he also let out a breath of relief. At least his Battle Soul Sword was not lost otherwise he would have suffered a huge loss.
Seeing the other solemnly ask about the Battle Soul Sword, Tang Zheng was hesitant. Did he admit that this was his personal sword?
"Elder is asking you a question, you're not going to say it yet. You are hesitating because you want to lie about something. Elder, this person is not a good person, you must not believe his words." The young man said with hostility.
The elder turned a deaf ear to the question and continued to look at Tang Zheng without batting an eyelid, waiting for his reply. Even the few people behind him held their breaths as they looked at Tang Zheng at the same time.
Being stared at by so many complicated gazes, Tang Zheng felt an indescribable pressure. He did not know whether he should admit it or not and was even more unable to find out the other's background.
Finally, after a moment's hesitation, he decided to speak the truth. "This is my sword."
An undetectable excitement arose between the elder's eyebrows, but it was all caught by Tang Zheng as he knew that his gamble was correct.
"Then may I ask who you are?" the Elder asked again.
That young man hurriedly said, "Elder, I've already asked him this question. He said that he's not telling the truth and that he's just an ordinary person."
The elder waved his hand, signalling for the other not to speak before looking at Tang Zheng, awaiting his reply.
Tang Zheng felt his heart be confused, just how should he answer this question? What was the others' intention?
"I'm just an ordinary person who accidentally fell off a cliff with a friend."
The elder's eyes flashed with a bright light, "If this brother is only an ordinary person, then I can't do anything. Your injuries will cripple you for life, and you will be lying on the bed for the rest of your life. In the future, you will only stay here until you die of old age."
Tang Zheng knew that his injuries were heavy, and according to what he said he underestimated the severity of the injury. The most crucial part was that the other was prepared to let him stay in bed for the rest of his life so Tang Zheng did not dare imagine what kind of life it was.
Moreover, he still needed to take care of his grandfather, stay together with Fang Shishi, and Chang Heng City's huge business. All these things made it impossible for him to stay out of this matter and become a cripple.
However, he still couldn't figure out what the other party was trying to hear. Could it be that the other party had discovered some clues from Battle Soul Sword?
Logically speaking, in the eyes of ordinary people, Battle Soul Sword was just a bit sharper and could be considered a treasured sword. Unless one could see that Battle Soul Sword was a magical treasure, it was impossible to attract such attention.
"I want to see my friend first." In the end, Tang Zheng did not reveal his identity as a cultivator as that identity was too important. If the other was an enemy then he would not be able to survive so he decided to drag it out and observe the situation first.
The elder smiled, "Alright, I'm not in a hurry to know the answer. It's not too late to tell me after you've decided on it. However, you can't drag this on for too long, or else you will end up suffering for the rest of your life." After pausing for a moment, he turned to the young man and said, "Ah Yuan, take him to see his friend later."
"Yes, Elder." Ah Yuan respectfully accepted the order.
The elder brought Battle Soul Sword and the others out of the wooden house, leaving only Tang Zheng and Ah Yuan in the room. Ah Yuan was clearly not nice to Tang Zheng and with a gloomy face he said: "No matter how glib your tongue is, I will not believe you. You better not have any bad intentions otherwise I will mercilessly break your head."
Tang Zheng gave a bitter smile: "I am almost crippled so what evil intentions do I have."
"Hmph!" Ah Yuan snorted coldly, seeming to agree with his words.
"Untie the rope and help me to see my friend." Tang Zheng said.
"Why untie the rope?" I tell you, if you don't tell me the truth, don't expect me to untie the rope. "
"Then how am I supposed to meet my friend? You can't just tie me up on the bed and carry me over." Tang Zheng suspiciously asked.
"You still want to me to lift a small body like this? You are simply insulting me." He then grabbed the wooden bed with one hand and gently lifted it up.
A hand lifted up over 150kg, and even though Tang Zheng's nerves were rough, he could not help but feel his eyelids twitch when he saw this scene.
If he didn't use his Kung Fu, he wouldn't be able to lift such a heavy object with just his physical body alone. However, if he used Kung Fu, his strength would increase explosively, making it possible for him to do so.
However, the crucial point was that this Ah Yuan did not have any fluctuations of Energy or inner strength within his body, which was very terrifying.
Tang Zheng could not help but mutter to himself, just who is the other person and that elder. Even though he does not look much different from an ordinary old man, to be able to make this Ah Yuan act so respectfully, he must not be an ordinary person.
All in all, the identities of these people were extremely mysterious. Now that he was the captive of these people, it was hard to predict just how dangerous it would be.
Looking at the astonishment in Tang Zheng's eyes, a hint of satisfaction flashed across his eyes as he said: "I am the most powerful among the younger generation of our clan. If you dare act rashly then killing you is easier than killing an ant."
While speaking, Ah Yuan carried the wooden bed out of the wooden hut.
The scenery in front of his eyes suddenly became clear. At this time it was noon and the sun was high in the sky. Tang Zheng unconsciously closed his eyes and after he adapted to the sunlight, he once again slowly opened his eyes and couldn't help but stare blankly.
