Chapter 5089 Cannot Overwhelm?
"One particular place is more distant than all the others. I wonder if Elders can tell which place I'm referring to." Venerable Knight Lussandra said calmly.
"Isn't that the Twelve Bastion Cities? What's so strange about it?"
"Didn't it also get attacked?"
The Venerable Elders looked confused.
"Yes, but the Heavenly Blight Hall's people aren't fools. They managed to evade our search by always hiding in the most obvious locations. They tend to mingle among the common populace. I believe one of these locations is where the Divine Emperor of Death is operating while we search everywhere else other than these sanctuaries."
"If the Divine Emperor of Death is really here, I believe the Bastion Cities is where he would be because that location is the only one that doesn't fit or relate to the places that were attacked, unless I'm missing something. The Heaven's Warriors we sent to the Bastion Cities are also fewer because so many powers already protect it. The other locations are all at an identical distance, more or less, but the Bastion Cities are farther than the others. It is as though they want to keep us away from this location or already know we won't send many Heaven's Warriors there."
"Why would he be there? Is it because of the Ethereal Lumina Tree?"
"Heavens! Is he planning to devour the tree and cultivate it to a higher level!?"
"In that case, we need to move quickly."
The Venerable Elders looked pale. One of them quickly stood up and wanted to head there.
"Elders, that's not what I said."
But at this moment, Venerable Knight Lussandra's voice echoed.
"It is impossible to forcefully absorb energy from the Ethereal Lumina Tree. Although it does not form a spirit in its lifetime, it has a Will of its own supported by the yin-yang cycle of the realm. Hence, the energy can only be distributed and kept within a region by our masterful Bastion Sanctuary City Formations. The Will would not allow all the energy to be transferred to one single entity, nor would that entity be able to handle all that energy, no matter who they are. Even Void Calamities get blown up by it if they are not careful."
"That's right." The Supreme One chuckled, "The Ethereal Lumina Tree cannot be overwhelmed by pure force alone. For an Upper Realm's Ethereal Lumina Tree, one needs to be at the stage above the Hierarch Stage. Does the Layer Limit allow it?"
He shook his head wryly.
The Venerable Elders looked embarrassed for losing their calm. They have also read about this, but this information was too weighted in terms of karmic burden, causing them to forget.
"Then why did you say that he would appear there?"
"My apologies, elders. I'm not inclined to reveal it to anyone other than the Supreme One."
"You-"
Some Elders looked stupefied. Then why did she bother saying all of this?
She pointed to a place, and they must go? If the war suddenly escalated or if the Divergents really tried to conquer the sanctuaries and terrorize the people, how could they react?
"Supreme One, what if the Divine Emperor of Death uses that apocalypse flame incarnate spirit? Wouldn't he be able to overwhelm the Ethereal Lumina Tree's Will? That terrifying spirit's manifestation alone caused the Lower Realm's Realm Core to stop accepting new realm rulers. I suspect this isn't so simple."
"Could be." The Supreme One nodded at that elder, "However, that spirit is a special existence. If it can ruin Realm Cores, then it would be utterly useless against the Ethereal Lumina Trees. They are yin-yang existences that allow a realm to form and sustain the myriad of veins, mountains, and rivers, so if the Realm Core is weak against that apocalypse spirit, the Ethereal Lumina Tree will certainly be strong against it. We don't have to fear that spirit's Will can overpower the tree's."
The Venerable Elders seemed satisfied with the explanation. Another one couldn't help but ask.
"Then what about the Divine Emperor of Death's Enigmatic Heart Laws? Since he is rumored to have reached the State of Divine Possession, I'm afraid…"
"No matter how strong his Will is, if he doesn't have enough energy to back it up, he can only maintain the forceful absorption for a few seconds at best."
The Supreme One flicked his sleeves, dismissing them before he gestured for Venerable Knight Lussandra to continue.
"Yes," Venerable Knight Lussandra continued, "I believe the Divine Emperor of Death is in one of these cities based on the difference between the locations, but I'm not completely sure why he would be there based on the reasons I have other than to create a temporary base. Perhaps we'll find his allies there, but if I'm right, there's a high likelihood that he would return to the place where he underwent his tribulation…"
"… and try to do something about the desolate air." A separate soul transmission fell on the Supreme One's head, making him raise his brows in surprise.
"Why would he return to the place where he underwent his tribulation?" The Venerable Elders were confused.
"As I said before, I can't reveal the reason." Venerable Knight Lussandra cupped her hands before bowing again, "My apologies, Elders."
The Venerable Elders made dissatisfied expressions. They couldn't understand why the Celestial Transcendent would place so much importance on her words despite her failures.
"Supreme One, we're already dealing with more Galaxy Wormholes appearing day after day in other regions and even in other realms. As of now, we have sealed a total of seven Galaxy Wormholes, and more are bound to appear in the southeastern sector of the Upper Realms because of the increasingly worsening era. Perhaps, we might've even missed one wormhole. This is top secret because it could lead to widespread unrest. Only Realm Masters, their trusted subordinates, and Heaven's Warriors like us, Venerable Elders are in the know. I suggest that we do not heed the words of a youngster like her, even if she is a Venerable Knight."
"Clearly, even if she is capable, she doesn't have the experience to see through all of it."
The Venerable Elders agreed. They then turned to look at the Supreme One and saw him pondering, making them inwardly sigh.
"Everyone, do not restrict yourselves from searching the locations you want to. Meeting with Divergents who can twist fate is more or less a matter of chance encounter. As long as we could find one, it could quickly lead to the rest. As for Little Lussandra, she is indeed young, but she is also capable, as her achievements to keep the Divine Emperor of Death in check have brought the least amount of casualties in our ranks."
The Venerable Elders lowered their heads.
They wanted to retort as the Heaven's Warriors were fearless and would give up their lives anytime. What use was saving lives if they couldn't kill the Divergent? Wouldn't more lives just be unfairly lost, their fates twisted and meeting an early death, than the one fate ordained, bringing great karmic disturbance that breaks the balance of nature?
But they dared not talk back to the Supreme One.
Did they have more experience in hunting Divergents than the Supreme One? They could only shut their mouths.
After exchanging a few more ideas, they took their leave, harrumphing at Realm Master Malzor Hexadra, who peeped on their conversation.
Realm Master Malzor Hexadra could only wryly laugh.
The Heaven's Warriors possessed too much influence when the Celestial Transcendent was beside them. Nonetheless, he also took his leave, not daring to remain.
The Supreme One and Venerable Knight Lussandra sat silently before the former's voice echoed as he poured himself a drink.
"Explain yourself…"
