Chapter 2120 Extra - The Fall of Ends
The Kingdom of Ends was no better, to be honest and while Brooj as well as Pal had given their support, the Royalty of Ends demanded that favours were to be returned by other kingdoms living the south of its borders.
To its surprise, The Mong Empire was not the only one attacking the Kingdom of Ends. The supposed strong alliance that Ends was in became extremely fragile after the first two weeks of the attack. Nalg had basically fallen by then and the Mong Empire had decided to focus most of its attacks against Ends.
It was at that time that the small kingdoms smaller than Ends had decided to band up to raid against Ends, believing it was a lost cause. After all, Ends had not always been the greatest leader when it came to their alliance. They had been rather greedy when with 'donations' and always demanded more tribute even though the other kingdoms had given more than their fair share.
Ends had always stated that they needed the money to support the huge amount of troops so that they could provide sufficient reinforcements for Nalg and Pal in the efforts to stop the demons from overflooding. When in actual fact, all those were 'fake news' and they did not give a shit about the situation in Nalg or Pal.
Sure, they assisted a little by providing basic equipment and supplies to both the East and West of Ress but other than that, Ends took that money and spent it on themselves especially the Royalties and their affiliated nobles. It did not take long for the other kingdoms to notice all of these but their arguments came to naught mainly due to the actions taken by Ress.
With Ress Isolation Barrier and the initial rumours of Ress creating demons of untold parallel, Ends took that opportunity to suck the other kingdoms dry of their resources. They stated that without Ends keeping track of Ress's development, there was no way in chance the Mong Empire was able to create such speculations.
Thus, when the Mong Empire had decided to attack the Kingdom of Ends, Pal, and Brooj were only sending reinforcements for the sake that Ends was able to fight back against the Mong Empire, in hopes that they can stop or reduce the pressure on Nalg.
However, since Nalg had fallen in less than two weeks, both kingdoms at the west of Ress had decided to not give a shit about Ends at all. Pal was the first to call for a withdrawal of their troops and subsequently Brooj too.
This gave the signal that Ends was on its own especially when both of the kingdom troop detachments had cited that the Mong Empire had no intention of producing an offensive operation against the Mong Empire.
All they did was hide behind their walls and kill whatever zombies or abominations that came their way. Of course, the resistance that Ends troops put up was relatively stronger compared to Nalg but their walls were not maintained despite the consistent amount of money in poured into Ends by the other kingdoms.
This caused their Eastern walls to fall within the first week and Ends was quick to give an excuse that this was mainly due to the fact they had concentrated their efforts in protecting the North where Ress resided. However, like Nalg, they were able to hold rather well at their capital and the stockpile of hoarded goods was used without blinking an eye.
Meanwhile, the kingdoms south of Ends had decided to send raiding parties to the East of Ends and rejected all refugees. They took whatever was available and valuable while taking the opportunity to route the zombies towards the direction of the capital.
What's more human nature showed its ugliness by killing or imprisoning helpless refugees so that they could be the meat shields against the zombie horde when it was needed.
After all, they believed that the undead would not come after them not until much later if they had Ends as a buffer while the rest of the southern kingdoms shored up their defences in anticipation of such attacks. Even Brooj and Pal had decided to team up to increase their buffer zones so that once Ends had fallen, they would be more or less ready for the zombie fight.
Trenches, traps, and palisades were made to increase such buffer zones even though they knew it was not enough to stop such a horde but the surrounding kingdoms of Ends were more than satisfied. Because of how their Mages showed their respective Kings and Queens how Ends eventually suffered a slow death against the undead horde, they decided to take a step further.
Trebuchets and Catapults were moved closer to the range of Ends as those soldiers risked their lives by shooting shots of firey mass into Ends, hoping that they could burn and kill the zombie horde within it. There was no need to worry about preserving the capital of Ends.
To the fellow humans who were desperate to survive this sudden onslaught of magical zombies, they rather kill the source of it all than allow them to manipulate. Enjoy new stories from empire
So as the defenders of Ends were at their last legs, those allied kingdoms began pelting fire into capital, in hopes that they burn all the corpses and reduce the amount of bodies the necromancers of Mong Empire can use to fight. The allied kingdoms also believed that this was how Mong Empire was going to plunder.
After the zombie horde had cleared the area, causing the defenders to flee or die in the course of action, only then the Mong Empire soldiers entered to sweep the battlefield. That was also why the southern kingdoms realised such a tactic being employed and used it before the Mong Empire soldiers were able to get there.
This also mean that kingdoms had started to possess the musket wand rifles and they began attempting to produce such items for their own sake too. However, this did not provide a dent against Kraft's plan since his objective was simple.
To get as many humans as they can get. If said humans were able to use the musket wand rifles, this meant that it will be easier for Jin's army to train them when the soldiers die and resurrect within the walls of Ress.
