Heaven’s Devourer

Chapter 1614: The Real Graveguarding Palace

Chapter 1614: The Real Graveguarding Palace

A temporary truce was established on the white jade platform.

None of the six on it dared to act for now. The Eternal Emperor Tomb had proved too difficult to predict, and they were afraid that internal strife would result in all of them dying.

There was no other choice but to work together.

The four demonic emperors began to discuss.

"Wasn’t that the Violet-Eyed Emperor? I saw a carving of him once, in some palace ruins in the Demon Immortal Realm. It’s definitely the Violet-Eyed Emperor!" Olden Golden Mountain asserted.

Perpetual World Tree nodded as well. "Indeed, twas the Violet-Eyed Emperor. His true form is the Violet-Eyed Beast. I thought to search for his corpse within those same ruins, but to think that he had already been turned into a corpse puppet here in the Eternal Emperor Tomb......"

Celestial Demonic Emperor said sharply: "Who is turning them into corpse puppets? If Violet-Eyed Emperor was done thus, it won’t be just him. There might well be other eternal demon emperor corpse puppets. Be careful."

The four demonic emperors were uneasy at being confronted by their ancestors. If even their ancestors had been turned into corpse puppets, how would they fare?

"Stop worrying so much. We’re already here, so just make the best of chances we get. We can work with the kid if we have to - whatever it takes to get out of here alive." Perpetual World Tree noted with a cool head.

The Eternal Emperor Tomb was fraught with dangers, but with it would probably come great rewards. However, for now survival came first, and the rewards seemed far out of reach.

Perpetual Demonic Emperor was thinking that they might all end up dead like the Unending Demonic Emperor......

Wu Yu was not as worried.

From their conversation, he had learned that the corpse puppet from before was the Violet-Eyed Emperor from the Demon Immortal Realm. He had a palace in Demon Immortal Realm, but it was already destroyed. Clearly, he had been someone important in the Demon Immortal Realm.

And yet he too had been killed in that battle, and even made into a corpse puppet. Who had built the Eternal Emperor Tomb? Unknown, and terrifying.

Even Wu Jun himself could not help but exclaim at how perilous this place was. It was completely different from any situation he had been in before. They sat on the white jade platform like a leaf floating on a turbulent sea. Any accident could send them all down to their doom.

The Violet-Eyed Emperor corpse puppet seemed to have only made a temporary retreat off the white jade platform. It seemed like the almighty immortal kernels could destroy all but the corpse puppets, which were immune.

Wu Yu had a hunch that they would meet the Violet-Eyed Emperor corpse puppet again.

After some time, the four demonic emperors and Wu Yu had all recovered fully from their injuries. This made them feel a little more confident.

"Look, what’s that up ahead?"

After another four or five days, Wu Jun seemed to have spotted something. He immediately stood up and pointed.

The others reacted instantly, quickly looking at where he had pointed.

The immortal kernels around them seemed to have finally lightened, and a dark palace now loomed in front of them.

What a grand palace it was.

Even as learned as Wu Jun was, he had never seen the likes of it before. In every direction you looked, the end of the palace could not be seen. It seemed to be a world itself, floating before them.

Even if they were far away, they could feel a terrifying chill emanating from the palace. Its aura was like needles of ice, puncturing them deep in the bone. They shivered.

This was not just a physical chill, but a spiritual one that made them sink into melancholia.

Fortunately, all of them had their own measures to ward off this spiritual chill, and they remained largely unaffected by it.

Wu Yu used Visualizing the Inner Ape. With the image of the Inner Ape within him, the chill of the dark palace ebbed away, finally disappearing completely.

The palace was gigantic. Although the white jade platform was a long ways away, they could not see the entirety of the palace.

The powerful immortal kernels surrounded the dark palace, a maelstrom of Soul Eater Wind, Death Valley Flame, Eternal Night Frost, and Karma’s Lightning. There were no gaps.

"Who made this palace? It’s majestic. It’s at least 5 percent the size of the entire Demon Immortal Realm!" Dignified Lava Beast exclaimed, stunned at the sheer scale of it.

All of the demonic emperors were awestruck by it. Dignified Lava Beast was right in his estimate.

In Wu Yu’s mind, Demon Immortal Realm was indeed huge. It was probably about the same size as the sky palaces.

Which meant that this dark palace must be as big as dozens of sky palaces. Even Wu Jun had never seen a palace of this scale before.

"I wonder if this compares to the Jade Emperor’s palace?"

Wu Yu thought to himself. He had never seen the Jade Emperor’s residence before, and could only imagine. However, it seemed possible that the layout of this place resembled the Jade Emperor’s place somewhat. After all, he had seen a similar epochal immortal design to what the Jade Emperor had built in hell.

From the moment they spotted the dark palace, they continued to employ various methods to combat the chill.

After another seven days, they finally reached the palace. It felt like they had finally reached port, and a dark land lay before them.

Wu Yu and the others could finally leave the white jade platform and step into the dark palace.

This place was incomprehensibly huge. The four demonic emperors hesitated to even move forwards. But they had come so far!

Therefore, all four transformed into their true forms and went in!

Olden Golden Mountain, shimmering with golden light, bridging heaven and earth. He took flight from the white jade platform, moving forward with speed. Perpetual World Tree rustled and whispered, a canopy of leafy branches blotting out the sky.

Dignified Lava Beast, a bubbling mass of magma, more like a volcano come to life rather than a beast, except for the huge maw. And Celestial Meteor, in his comet form, streaking towards the dark palace.

The four demonic emperors all had huge bodies. Even Wu Yu’s 1 million doppelgangers would not be able to compare to a hundredth of their size.

Even so, these gigantic forms looked as unremarkable as a couple of worms compared to the size of this palace.

That was how big the dark palace was. As for Wu Yu and Wu Jun in their human forms, they were even more insignificant.

"Hang back for now. This place might be very dangerous. Let the clones scout the way."

Wu Yu held back Wu Jun, who had been on the verge of starting forward. He then sent out the 1 million doppelgangers ahead of them, flying forth close to the speed of the demonic emperors.

Seeing the situation, the four demonic emperors slowed down as well. They too did not want to take risks, and were happy enough to follow behind the cannon fodder.

The six of them came to a platform of black brick, awaiting the information of Wu Yu’s clones.

For now, the demonic emperors did not intend to fight Wu Yu and Wu Jun. Firstly, this place was even wider than the white jade platform, and there was plenty of space for them to run to. Secondly, they did not know if they could make it out alive from the palace without the cooperation of those two.

For now, there was a tacit alliance. Of course, none of them broached the topic, but simply maintained a safe distance from each other.

The sheer size of the palace meant that even 1 million doppelgangers barely made a dent in terms of ground covered. Wu Yu was frustrated by this, but the clones soon enough found the main door of the dark palace.

Two gigantic jet-black doors, so tall that their tops could not be seen. And written in bloody red: Graveguarding Palace!

Seemed like this was the true Graveguarding Palace, while the secret chamber and white jade platform had all been protections. Each of the words were as large as the demonic emperors themselves. It was hard to imagine how they had been carved on.

The black doors were surrounded by dark mists that obscured their vision. However, the clones were unafraid, and rushed in. They realized that the black doors were a cover-up!

"The real Graveguarding Palace actually lets one enter at will?" Wu Yu felt a little thrown off by the open door.
