Chapter 1514: The Other Party Should Choose Whether She Wants to Break Up or Wait

Nian Junting was stunned.

He suddenly felt like he could understand why Jiang Yuning was able to move Nian Xi’s heart. Nian Xi was a tough girl, and he could evoke her desire to protect him.

“Anyone would think that you want to break up with Nian Xi since you’ve retreated into your own world, ignored everyone, and refused to answer Nian Xi’s call,” Nian Junting said as he looked down at him condescendingly. “Even Nian Xi thinks that you’re probably sick of taking care of her.”

“I’m not…” Jiang Yuning said as he looked up anxiously. “Why would I be sick of taking care of her? Even if she continues to walk with a limp for the rest of her life, I’m willing to take care of her as long as I live.”

“What do you mean when you say that she’ll walk with a limp for the rest of her life? Mind your words!” Nian Junting warned with a dark expression on his face.

Jiang Yuning looked down, forlorn. As if he did not hear what Nian Junting had said, he resumed, “I’m not going with you because I don’t know what I should do. I don’t want to break up with her, but I’m also afraid I’ll implicate her.”

“There are certain things that you have to face.” Nian Junting bent down and tried to speak in a gentler voice, “Of course, it’s certainly better for you to leave Xia City and cut off contact with Nian Xi for the time being. However, I feel that you can be more honest and clarify things with her. She’s not an unreasonable person. Besides, she’s a cop, and she’ll know that the most important thing now is to catch the criminal.”

Jiang Yuning was shocked.

Nian Junting continued to say, “Perhaps you may think that you initiated a one-sided breakup for her sake, but she’ll hate you. She may even doubt herself and put herself down. This is especially so since women tend to let their thoughts run wild. In the past, others have also threatened my wife to break up with me. She kept this from me and ditched me, and I had an exceptionally hard time then. I couldn’t understand why because we were fine in one moment and yet, in the next instant, she told me that she had fallen for someone else. It hurt more than having a knife pierce through your heart. Afterward, she said that she was merely putting on an act to trick the other party, and she did not let me in on it because she was afraid that the other party would see through my poor acting. We resolved the misunderstanding, but I still can’t get over it even after a long time. I was pretty mad, and I even hated her for a while.”

“I feel that, at the very least, a couple should be honest with each other and clarify things when they face troubles. You may think that you’re having a hard time, but it may be worse for the other party. The difference is that at least you know that the other party still loves you.”

“Minimally, you should allow the other party to choose if she wants to break up or to wait. You shouldn’t decide on your own.”

Jiang Yuning mulled over Nian Junting’s words carefully. Finally, his jet-black eyes seemed as if he had found a ray of hope.

“Besides, the people in the TOX organization may not necessarily buy it since you chose to break up at this point,” Nian Junting continued. “If you truly want to protect Nian Xi, you should step forward instead of hiding behind her. You should attract the attention of all the bad guys over to you.”

“Mr. Nian.” Uncle Han frowned and interrupted them.

“Am I wrong?” Nian Junting turned and looked at Xu Gang. “You have to venture deep inside the tiger’s den if you want to destroy it. That’s the only way. I’ve led a few operations back then when I was in the army. It was a matter of life and death every time, but I’ve never failed.”

Xu Gang’s brows trembled slightly.

“Say no more!” Uncle Han said, sounding much harsher than before. “How can our Mister possibly do such a thing? He’ll break down.”

“No, he won’t,” Nian Junting said, and his expression looked as sharp as a knife. “He could stay underground for ten days and nights without breaking down. This goes to show that he’s actually very strong at heart and has a high level of tolerance.”

Uncle Han sneered coldly and said, “You make it sound so easy, but you’re not the one who’s going.”
