Chapter 1500: Xixi, You’re So Noble
“Im… Impressive!” Jiang Yuning muttered, giving a thumbs up.
He still could not make sense of what had just taken place. He also could not wrap his mind around how she had managed to chase away so many of his students. Everyone now viewed her as his wife.
Jiang Yuning felt oddly shy.
“So you think I’m not making any sense?” Nian Xi crossed her arms in front of her chest, looking justified and self-righteous. “I may seem like I’m jealous, but… I’m actually correcting the inappropriate conduct in your class. Don’t you normally notice this at all?”
Jiang Yuning scratched his head with a baffled expression on his face.
Nian Xi found him to be rather slow-witted, and she gave him a look before continuing, “Many of your students didn’t care about the answer to their questions at all. They merely wanted to get close to you and listen to you speaking because you’re so good-looking.”
“I see…” The realization finally hit Jiang Yuning. “I didn’t know.”
“That’s because you’re too innocent, and you wouldn’t think too much about it!” Nian Xi sighed. “Let me ask you. What do you think of the questions asked by the students who came to consult you after your lecture today?”
“The questions seemed more meaningful, and some of them were extremely specific.” Jiang Yuning suddenly became happier. “I like answering them.”
“Exactly! After all, you’re a Physics professor and not a celebrity. If you can’t impart your knowledge to those who truly need it, then your lessons are wasted!” Nian Xi said with a sigh. “Because of that, I’m willing to play the villain for the sake of those students. I merely hope to groom more scientists, and I don’t care how others will think of me.”
“Xixi, you’re so noble.” Jiang Yuning was full of admiration for her.
“Don’t mention it,” Nian Xi said as she waved her hands. “This is my responsibility as a cop.”
“Xixi, you’re seriously the greatest cop I’ve ever seen.” Jiang Yuning adored her dearly right now, and he felt lucky to be liked by her. “Xixi, I genuinely thought that you were jealous, and I even felt a little gleeful because of that.”
He felt very proud that his woman had become so fierce for his sake.
“Why would I be jealous? I’m proud of you,” Nian Xi replied as she abruptly turned to look at him with an unusually serious expression.
Her gaze made Jiang Yuning’s heart soften, and he felt as if he was bursting with joy.
…
Jiang Yuning ordered quite a few side dishes when they ate in the canteen, and he kept piling food onto Nian Xi’s plate. “Xixi, you should eat more. The chicken feet are good!”
“My hands are tired. Feed me,” Nian Xi said lazily.
“Sure.” Jiang Yuning began to feed her obediently.
Some of the students seated around them began to whisper to one another.
“Wow, who is she? Professor Jiang’s so nice to her.”
“Hey, keep your volume down! I heard that this woman flew into a rage in Professor Jiang’s lecture just now. She’s the jealous type, and she looks so fierce!”
“Are you serious? How fierce can she be when she’s crippled? Professor Jiang’s taste in women is so strange. Did his mind get all muddled up by the research that he’s fiddling with every day?”
The couple stayed silent for a while.
Nian Xi then looked at Jiang Yuning with a calm expression. “See? Sometimes, it’s tough being the good guy.”
Jiang Yuning frowned. All of a sudden, he stood up and turned to face the girls who were gossiping away. He then said, “Let me warn all of you. You better be polite to my fiancée. She’s not crippled. Her leg is only temporarily injured, but I’ll still like her even if she walks with a limp forever. Besides, what has this got to do with you guys? How can you badmouth your professor and his fiancée so casually?”
