Chapter 203: Chapter 193: The End of Everything
Ah Li quickly took Xiao Hua from Ah Mao’s hands and soothed her gently.
Seeing her dad’s hand bleeding nonstop, the tears Da Hua had just managed to hold back began to fall even harder.
"Da Hua, don’t cry, don’t cry. Dad’s coming to save you right now. Don’t be afraid."
Ah Mao had just gotten his younger daughter back, but when he turned and saw his older daughter sobbing so violently, he was at a complete loss.
He couldn’t even feel the pain in his hand. All he felt was worry and heartache for his daughter, whom he soothed as if she were still a little girl.
But unlike Xiao Hua, Da Hua was an adult, and she was surrounded by several people holding weapons.
For Ah Mao to get his daughter out unscathed was simply an impossible task.
"Dad, just have everyone attack! Don’t worry about me. If I die, consider it my atonement for our uncles!"
Da Hua closed her eyes in despair.
’This whole mess is my fault. Let me be the one to end it.’
"Don’t be ridiculous! You and your sister are my precious girls. I’d give up everything I have in this life to protect you two!"
Between being a good leader and a good father, he ultimately chose to be a good father.
A person always has to fail someone in their life. What matters most is being true to your own heart.
Perhaps they would all die later, but at this very moment, he just couldn’t bear to watch his own daughter die before his eyes.
’Who says humans possess feelings that animals lack? Maybe humans are the most heartless and treacherous creatures in this world.’
Having watched the drama of the Xing Clan father and daughter unfold from beginning to end, Tang Mo couldn’t help but have such a thought.
"Alright, let’s move. Time to get to work."
Tang Mo said to the group of men resting off to the side, then led the way inside.
Her spiritual power morphed into Wind Blades, and before anyone could react, they shot out at incredible speed, ending the lives of the men holding Da Hua hostage.
"Go! Save your daughter, and then call all the other apes over!"
At this moment, Tang Mo was still too far from Da Hua, with a group of people in between, so she could only shout at Ah Mao.
Ah Mao didn’t even react at first. He was just staring intently at his daughter when he suddenly saw the armed men beside her collapse.
It wasn’t until he heard Tang Mo’s shout that he snapped back to reality. He slammed his uninjured arm against the stone wall of the cave, a deep, powerful roar bursting from his chest.
"AWOOOO!"
The sound was deafening, powerful enough to be heard halfway down the mountain.
In that instant, all the apes in their caves heard their chief’s call. They poured out and charged toward the summit, ready to answer his summons and join the battle.
After doing this, Ah Mao charged toward Da Hua, preparing to pull his daughter back to his side.
The turn of events was too sudden. By the time the Wildman Tribe Chief and his men realized what was happening, Ah Mao had already reached Da Hua’s side.
’We can’t let him take Da Hua back! The rest of the apes will be here any second. If we lose our last hostage, this whole operation will be a total failure.’
The Wildman Tribe Chief couldn’t care about anything else at this point. He raised the thorn-wrapped club in his hand and charged forward to stop Ah Mao and Da Hua.
But to his surprise, the ape chief didn’t fight back and simply endured the attack.
His grip on his daughter’s hand never loosened for a moment.
’I can’t let go now. If I try to fight back, the others lurking nearby will immediately swarm Da Hua.’
’One person can only do so much. The most important thing right now is to protect my daughter and get her away from here.’
"Dad..."
Da Hua was pulled along by Ah Mao, weaving through the crowd toward the cave entrance.
Ah Mao held Da Hua tightly, shielding her with his own body so that none of the blows could touch her.
Da Hua watched as the clubs rained down on her dad, each blow feeling like a needle piercing her own heart.
Tang Mo had already charged in with her people by now, clearing a path inward from the cave entrance.
The men inside the cave were the elites of the wildman tribe, after all, and they were much stronger than the grunts who had been standing guard outside.
Since they couldn’t use firearms, fighting in the narrow cave was a difficult struggle for Tang Mo and her team.
Ah Mao’s family of four was still inside, so all firearms had to be put away for the time being.
Ah Li and Xiao Hua were standing near the entrance, so Tang Mo reached them quickly. She escorted the mother and daughter out to safety.
All of this actually happened within a few minutes...
By the time Tang Mo pushed deeper inside and reached Ah Mao and Da Hua, Ah Mao had already sustained too many injuries. He was running purely on willpower, struggling to keep pulling his daughter along.
Seeing Tang Mo arrive, Da Mao was instantly relieved. He used his last ounce of strength to push Da Hua toward her.
"Get Da Hua out of here first. Please."
After saying this, Ah Mao could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground.
"Dad..."
Da Hua cried out in anguish, watching helplessly as her exhausted father was surrounded by the men.
Tang Mo didn’t hesitate at a time like this. She always knew what was most important and when.
She grabbed Da Hua’s arm and pulled her out of the fray.
It all happened in the blink of an eye. By the time Tang Mo got back, Qin Ling’s squad had already cleared out the wildmen inside the cave.
At this moment, everyone still standing was one of their own.
But Ah Mao was lying in a pool of blood...
He hadn’t even fought back, all to protect his daughter. His wounds were too severe.
The rest of the Xing Clan had gathered at the cave entrance by this time. They saw their enemies, the wildmen, lying on the ground, while another group of humans was clearly with Ah Li’s family. They quickly pieced together what had happened.
The cave was too small to hold so many people, much less the enormous apes.
So they all stood at the entrance, anxiously peering inside at their chief.
When Lao Ba and Lao Jiu carried the Xing Clan chief out together, all the other apes immediately crowded around.
"Dad, Dad, are you okay?" Da Hua cried, kneeling beside Ah Mao.
"Dad, Dad..." Xiao Hua was young, but even she knew her father was badly hurt. She gripped Ah Mao’s hand tightly and wouldn’t let go.
Ah Li sat on the ground, resting Ah Mao’s head on her lap.
The other apes circled around Ah Mao, their eyes filled with overwhelming worry.
"He’s on his last breath. Say what you need to, and make it quick."
Lao Ba had never been one for tact, and his words earned him a kick from Second Brother.
He was speaking the plain truth, though. The wildmen’s blows had been vicious, nearly every one of them lethal.
The ape chief had too many wounds. The blood loss alone would be enough to kill him.
