Chapter 569: The Decision

Sima Family mansion.

In the ancestral hall, rows upon rows of ancestor tablets stood.

And in the rows at the lowest and nearest to the front, a few of the tablets that were comparatively new stood among the others.

Sima Yu, the family head of the Sima Family, glanced solemnly at these tablets that were for the elders who had perished during the attack from the Six Pulse Sword Sect and the Dark Lord earlier.

He took in a slow breath and let out a long sigh.

After he was done, he turned around and glanced at the other members of the Sima Family who were standing behind him.

Sima Ye, after he had heard Lin Xuan Qi’s suggestion from Sima Long, had suggested it to the family head.

And the family head wanted to make a decision on it after hearing the opinions from the other family members.

His position as family head had already been weakened significantly after what happened and some of the branches of the family weren’t too happy about his leadership.

"Why do you think we can go up against the Qing Feng Sect and all the other sects at once?

"We should lie low for now and talk to them so that we can reach a mutual agreement until we get back to our glory."

One of those in the pacifist camp, Sima Ba, said and others who thought the same nodded their heads.

Some only wanted to dispute and reject whatever Sima Ye suggested.

Especially if it was Sima Ye or Sima Long.

Sima Long had been on the rise lately and they would do anything to protect their own standings in the family, even if it meant rejecting something as important as this.

"Are you an idiot or what?

"After what they’ve done to us so far, you are still harboring the thought that they would let us be safe until we get strong enough to fight back?"

Another of the Sima Family members from the opposite camp shouted angrily.

"Why don’t you let them come over and take whatever they want from you first?"

Their disdain for those pacifists was obvious and they started to hurl insults at them.

"I think we should be more careful about the suggestion. Who knows what that Lin Xuan Qi is thinking behind it.

"Maybe he is thinking about weakening us with the tournament for the Qing Feng Sect instead." Sima Ba turned his focus to Lin Xuan Qi and levelled his accusations at him.

Those supporting Sima Ba immediately followed up and turned on Lin Xuan Qi.

"What does he want from us? Why is he helping us without asking anything back? There must be an ulterior motive from him."

Sima Long’s face reddened from the anger that rose within him.

He clenched his left fist and pointed at Sima Ba with his right finger, "How dare you insult my brother!

"All he is doing is helping his close friend and brother like he had always done.

"You are accusing him just because you are jealous that I’m the only one to benefit from him."

Lin Xuan Qi’s rise from a nobody to a successful businessman was miraculous and it was easy for everyone else to see how Sima Ba could be jealous of it.

And those who were for the suggestion to hold a tournament nodded their heads at what Sima Long had said.

"So, Sima Ba not only has his balls castrated, he is petty and jealous like an old maiden now."

One of them said and the others burst out in laughter.

"You! You..." Sima Ba felt his chest tighten and gasped for air from the anger.

Sima Yu sighed and rubbed his temple at what was happening.

The family was going down and some of them were only concerned with their own standings and benefits.

Seeing how they were in a quagmire, Sima Ye stepped forward and bowed at Sima Yu, "Lin Xuan Qi does have something to ask from us and I think it’s best to let only you know."

He glanced at the family head and waited for his response.

Sima Yu gave him a nod and activated his Spiritual Sense in the next moment.

"What does he want from the Sima Family?" Sima Yu’s voice sounded in Sima Ye’s mind.

"He wanted a Natal Puppet for his friend and after working with him for so long, he is definitely someone who is trustworthy.

"There were so many times that he could have betrayed us for better rewards but didn’t.

"He even offered us a place to hide in his mansion when things weren’t going so well with the Six Pulse Sword Sect." Sima Ye told the family head about Lin Xuan Qi’s request and what he had done for them previously.

"Hmm...." Sima Yu went into deep thought about what he had heard.

He had already leaned towards Lin Xuan Qi’s suggestion before the discussions started and after hearing about Lin Xuan Qi’s request, it wasn’t too difficult to make a decision.

"I will see to it that the Natal Puppet would be the best that the Sima Family can come up with." Sima Yu’s voice sounded in Sima Ye’s mind and Sima Ye was glad for it.

"Silence." Sima Yu raised his voice at the family members.

All of the family members who were still arguing with one another quickly fell silent.

"I’ve made my decision. We shall go ahead with the idea of holding a tournament to right our name."

Those who were for it cupped their hands and bowed at the family head shouting, "The family head is wise!"

They had been waiting to do something for so long and they were excited with the decision.

"I object to it!" Sima Ba shouted and pointed at Sima Ye, "What did you tell the family head?"

"Yeah, unless what transpired between you and the family head is made public, we don’t agree to it!"

"Right, there is no way we should hold the tournament just because of some secret arrangements.

"We demand it to be known. I’m sure the ancestors of the Sima Family would agree to it too!"

All of the other Sima Family members stared at Sima Ba and his ilk.
