Chapter 1702: Fainted
It was a shame he was still too young. No matter if it was Lu Li or Square Root Three, he didn’t give them the chance to talk straight business with him.
If Ruling Sword had as many suitable new players as Glory Capital, they wouldn’t let a 14 year old go on stage. Glory Capital easily influenced their worldview, but you had to be patient and endure to really go far.
Soulless Grass was defeated by another one of Glory Capital’s players.
Then, Mu Qiu went on and defeated this player. The final score was 3-2, with Ruling Sword leading by 1.
Finally, they had to play out the group competition. Both sides just had five competitors, so they didn’t need to decide who would go on.
The Donghua Cup didn’t have any perfect rules to begin with.
Lu Li and Square Root Three shut themselves up – the match would be commencing straight away. If they kept on chatting, then it would look like they didn’t really care about the competition.
In the group competition, Ruling Sword was a little weaker. This was a fact without a doubt.
Lu Li felt that their own Princely Beauty was far off from their opponents. However, even at her own mediocre level, she somehow hoped Wandering could wait for her to grow up to get married. It was a good thing their own girls in the team weren’t infatuated with Wandering’s permanent good looks.
If something like that really happened, Lu Li would be the first to scold him.
Dragon Flame didn’t face off against Fat Monkey this time – instead, he was pursuing Soulless Grass, and was crushing him.
It was a good thing that Mu Qiu, who was the most experienced here, managed to somewhat stabilize the battle.
Changing his output and wielding his Sword of the Brotherhood, Mu Qiu was far more amazing than many celebrity competitors.
The first one to be snet off was Princely Beauty. The little maiden did her best, but she was too young, being tricked by a false attack and not responding in time. After being deceived a few times she was finally completely out of mana.
Without healers, fatal attacks would definitely be fatal, but it still wasn’t enough to say all hope was lost.
However, when Short Road fainted, Lu Li couldn’t bear to watch this group of pitiful children any longer.
It was his own fault – how could he have let them on stage?
It wasn’t the first time Short Road fainted either. Although it didn’t happen as often as it did in the beginning, it still happened when he was too nervous.
It looked like in the future they’d have to wait for Short Road to fully recover before he could properly compete again.
There wasn’t any more suspense after that. Glory Capital ended up winning the competition.
They were really actually quite gloomy. They were originally going to kill Ruling Sword’s priest, and after they won, there wasn’t any more suspense.
When they started, it looked like they had been set up.
It was only until Ruling Sword’s few competitors were unable to remain focused on fighting and they looked at Short Road that they believed. That way, they were sure that they had won the competition, but they had won it without putting up a fight.
It looked Ruling Sword wouldn’t win unless some sort of miracle happened.
There was no miracle and they won – how great!
In this way, the competition between Ruling Sword and Glory Capital officially ended.
Ruling Sword received 3rd place in the Donghua Cup, leaving the competitors disappointed, especially Princely Beauty and Short Road. Taking the blame, he was very apologetic, but Lu Li and all were very understanding.
Right from the beginning, this competition wasn’t about getting results.
Princely Beauty probably became aware of her shortcomings through this competition. Hopefullym she would find some time to train in between chasing after Wandering.
Soulless Grass won a whole of female fans. In a few days, there would be companies asking him to be their spokesperson.
Even Mu Qiu and Fat Monkey would have rewards.
After the Donghua Cup ended, they were preparing for the second league match. This was a formal competition. Everyone was giving up all they had to get the first prize.
It would difficult for Ruling Sword to win two trophies. Lu Li sometimes didn’t even really want to think about it.
The final deciding match of the Donghua Cup was on the second day. Glory Capital were against the Gangnam Royals, so there was certainly no suspense as to the outcome of the battle. Even so, the high-level players that Gangnam Royals hired were still not worse that those new players that Glory Capital had been training up for many years.
This was the same as many a Donghua Cup before. Glory Capital took the first place as they had always done.
Lu Li wouldn’t let these people like Fat Monkey and Mu Qiu participate in the next Donghua Cup. Next time, Short Road and Princely Beauty along with Soulless Grass would be the main force. From their current performance, they might not even get into the top 10, let alone the top 3.
This time, Fat Monkey and Mu Qiu were the decisive factors.
The road of growth for a competitor was crooked and difficult. If everything went smoothly for them, their careers would be propelled into limelight.
Truthfully, most competitors had already experienced setbacks. If they didn’t go through at least a few of these setbacks, then they couldn’t say they had complete experience.
Lu Li hoped that the competitors who left the Sharpening Centre would go through their own struggles to grasp the reality of victory.
After the second day of the Donghua Cup ended, another two students chose to leave the Sharpening Centre, the reason being because they weren’t allowed to compete. They were clearly older and a little stronger than Princely Beauty and Soulless Grass, so why weren’t they allowed to participate? That initial promise never came to fruition.
Lu Li could only laugh at this.
It wasn’t untrue that they were older – it said so on their ID.
But to say that they were stronger than Princely Beauty and Soulless Grass was just being too egoistical.
It was true that Lu Li promised before that if there was a chance, they could participate. He had denied them of this opportunity, so it looked like he was in the wrong, so there wasn’t much chance of him being able to argue his way out of it.
This whole situation was all like a damn zoo.
That was what Lu Li felt like. Looking at the ten remaining people, he didn’t feel too sure of himself.
These kids had more or less come from good backgrounds, and apparently, they even understood laws and contracts.
“Who else wants to go, then?”
“I…I won’t go, not even if you force me away,” Soulless Grass stammered. However, he was only the first one to speak. He felt he had found worth in life, although he didn’t win.
Through all these things happening, this new kid’s ambition was ignited.
“Wherever my man goes, I’ll go. If my man doesn’t go, I won’t go, hahaha…”
The little maiden looked as if she was crazy. Who knew when she would be able to get Wandering to stand beside her?
Both of them had entered the arena, so they had no ill feelings towards Lu Li. But what about the other eight?
