Starting with a Super Five-Star Hotel

Chapter 321: Just be a female security guard at my house_1

"This thing of yours is also an artifact, right?"

Long Xiwén eyed Su Xuan's Ruyi Staff, a mischievous glint in her beautiful eyes.

"I want to see your search warrant," Su Xuan said.

"Don't bother. The search warrant is fake. I forged it."

Long Xiwén admitted frankly, "I really, really wanted to take a good look around your place, and it turns out I did find some interesting things."

She raised a hand, her fingers caressing a throwing knife. "If I'm not mistaken, this throwing knife isn't yours either. It belongs to the murderer who massacred the Bai family, right? He didn't have to use a screwdriver to kill, did he?"

"It's his," Su Xuan shrugged.

"You really are..." Long Xiwén tidied a strand of hair with the tip of the knife, choosing her words carefully. "It seems like everything has something to do with you!"

"Long Xiwén," Su Xuan said suddenly. "Do you have a favor to ask of me?"

"Ah?"

Struck by how Su Xuan had seen right through her, Long Xiwén blinked her beautiful eyes in astonishment. "You could tell?"

"Only an idiot couldn't," Su Xuan snatched the throwing knife from her hand. "If you really wanted to cause trouble for me, you wouldn't be dilly-dallying with me here, and you certainly wouldn't have come sneaking over alone."

He had met Long Xiwén more than once or twice, so he had a decent understanding of her.

"Spit it out. What is it?" Su Xuan said coolly.

"I..."

Suddenly on the defensive, Long Xiwén's mouth fell open. "I'm not asking for a favor! I want you to assist me as a way to atone for your crimes..."

"The culprit in the Bai family case is on the run, and I have no idea where he went," Su Xuan said irritably. "As for the case of the damaged artifacts in Chongming Park, I had nothing to do with it. I just got a daoist robe from Zhang Shan, and you're more than welcome to take it. There's nothing I can assist you with."

"It's not about those two cases!" Long Xiwén said innocently. "We're still waiting to apprehend the culprit in the Bai family case, and the damaged artifacts case is already closed. I'm not here for either of those."

"Oh?" Su Xuan was surprised. "Then why were you spouting all that nonsense about the daoist robe and the throwing knife?"

"I was just afraid you wouldn't agree to help me..." Long Xiwén's pretty face flushed slightly. "So I thought I'd try to scare you."

"You think you can scare me? I have a net worth of hundreds of billions," Su Xuan glared. "If I had actually committed a crime, I'd have my airline arrange a private jet to fly me somewhere no one could ever find me. Scare me? What a joke!"

"I guess I can't, hee hee," Long Xiwén lowered her head.

Su Xuan walked over to the coat rack, pulled out the embedded throwing knives one by one, and said, "This coat rack is actually a piece of art worth at least a million. You just damaged it. Tell me, how are you going to compensate me?"

Long Xiwén grew flustered. "But the knives were already stuck in it when I got here! You clearly broke it yourself. I... I only added two more stabs, I..."

"Hmph!"

Having gotten the upper hand, Su Xuan's lips curled into a slight smile. "I know you can't afford that on your salary, so how about this? From now on, you can be a maid in my house... oh, no, a female security guard would be better. Do that for ten years, and we'll call it even for the coat rack."

"A female security guard..."

The stunningly beautiful Long Xiwén pictured herself in a security guard's uniform and immediately shook her head. "No way!"

"Master, is everything alright?"

Just then, Butler Liu's voice came from outside the door.

"Everything's fine."

Su Xuan called back, having lost interest in teasing Long Xiwén. He adopted a serious tone. "Seeing as you've brought me money on multiple occasions, just get to the point."

"That's your reward money. It's not like I gave it to you, why would I..." Long Xiwén started to explain, but when she saw Su Xuan's stern, handsome face, her voice dropped to a whisper. "Before I tell you my problem, can you tell me... can you really fight ghosts?"

"No," Su Xuan said.

"But Zhang Shan swore you could," Long Xiwén insisted. "He swore on his life that it wasn't some master who resolved the haunting at the funeral parlor, it was you. He saw it with his own eyes!"

With that, Long Xiwén produced two willow leaves, the very ones Old Master Zhou had given Zhang Shan.

Su Xuan said, "That doesn't prove anything."

Long Xiwén said, "I don't think it proves much either, but my case is just too bizarre. I was hoping you would try to help me. And, um, this is a personal request. It has nothing to do with Chief Zhong."

Su Xuan asked, "How bizarre?"

Long Xiwén took a deep breath. "This is what happened..."

「Around noon,」

Zhong Huilan had suddenly called Long Xiwén into her office and assigned her a case. When Long Xiwén read the case file, she was dumbfounded.

The owner of a villa claimed his house was haunted. During broad daylight, he could hear footsteps walking inside the walls. The mirrors in the rooms reflected a face that wasn't his own. At night, dark shadows floated past the windows...

Long Xiwén almost thought the villa owner was insane. How could such things possibly happen?

But she went to the villa to investigate anyway and discovered that everything he said was true!

Especially when she looked in the mirror...

The person in the reflection was not her at all!

"Su Xuan, please come with me to take a look," Long Xiwén pleaded pitifully after finishing her story. "If you can help me solve this, I'll definitely treat you to a nice meal!"

"Just a meal?" Su Xuan frowned.

"I'll pretend I didn't see any of these things in your room," Long Xiwén said, winking mischievously.

"Kiss me," Su Xuan said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"What?" Long Xiwén almost leaped into the air.

"Fine, if you don't want to, forget it."

Su Xuan lay back on the bed, calm and composed, his eyes half-closed in an expression of utter nonchalance.

"I..." Long Xiwén walked over to Su Xuan, suddenly grabbed his hand, and pressed a quick, light kiss to the back of it. "I... I did it!"

"Hahaha!"

Su Xuan saw the faint lipstick mark on the back of his hand and nearly howled with laughter. He was quite satisfied, having pushed the prim and proper Long Xiwén this far.

"Let's go!"

Su Xuan sprang up from the bed, grabbed his Ruyi Staff, and headed for the door.

"But it's nighttime!" Long Xiwén followed behind him, her face flushed.

Su Xuan said matter-of-factly, "I still have to drive my rideshare during the day!"

Long Xiwén said, "Oh."

He's a good person. He helped Chief Zhong and so many others. He's... endearing... yes, so endearing, like a cute little puppy. And there's nothing wrong with kissing a puppy!

"Long Xiwén, do you like me?" Su Xuan suddenly turned around and asked.

"I do!" Long Xiwén blurted out without a second thought.

"Got it."

Su Xuan turned and continued walking.

"Aaaaah!"

Long Xiwén wanted to die, stomping her foot hard on the floor.

What she didn't know was that Su Xuan wasn't helping her out of the goodness of his heart.

He was just looking to earn some more incense merit.

He'd been worrying about where to find... a ghost
