Facing the Apocalypse with My Other Selves

Chapter 92: Mere Germs Nothing to Worry About

Even Aivlette herself did not believe she could succeed by relying on her own strength alone.

She was acutely aware of the huge gap between herself and the Kingdom Guard Captain standing before her.

That was a gap so wide she could not even withstand a single blow.

Yet at this moment, she completely ignored the long sword raised high by the Kingdom Guard Captain; in her eyes, there was only her royal father.

All because of Wizard Shen Yu's words.

Everything else, leave it to him!

If she could not bring herself to trust even at this moment, how could she possibly face the judgment of the gods!

In truth, Wizard Shen Yu would never disappoint her.

Just as everyone believed that the Pearl of Violet would fall today, her life snuffed out like a candle's flame—

Boom—!

A sudden, thunderous sound exploded throughout the grand hall!

Everyone was startled out of their wits and did not have time to react.

And as they frantically looked around, they saw that the Kingdom Guard Captain, who was supposed to be standing guard before the King, had been hurled across the hall, smashing a gaping hole high above.

Aivlette's longsword now lay horizontal against the King's neck.

What happened?

Everyone was stunned by what they saw; the guards responded the fastest, each striding forward.

"Protect the King!"

But just as the cry rang out, a sustained humming reverberated throughout the whole hall.

All the guards collapsed to their knees in anguish, the surrounding air shuddering violently, as if some invisible force was pressing down upon them.

It was only then that people noticed, at some point, a series of pitch-black, orb-shaped objects were floating amid the grand hall.

It was these orbs that continuously radiated a unique power, easily suppressing every guard present.

Even the Kingdom Guard Captain, who'd been blasted away, was now struggling, face flushed red, utterly powerless.

"The Demon Warriors of this world are far inferior to the Martial Arts Masters of the Martial Arts World," Wizard Shen Yu concluded with ease.

These orbs were the "Non-lethal Force Field Restraining Weapons" he'd just borrowed from an interstellar civilization.

They were for internal warnings, each orb capable of generating a fixed force field up to ten tons.

Moreover, they could stack upon one another.

If one wasn't enough, then two, three, or even dozens.

The so-called Demon Warriors were, in essence, mages specializing in reinforcing their bodies with enhanced magic, still a far cry from the full scope of martial discipline found in the Martial Arts World.

The Kingdom Guard Captain was subdued completely with just over twenty orbs.

Unable to move an inch.

At this moment, the panicked ministers finally saw Wizard Shen Yu slowly entering through the grand doors, and one by one, they realized the source of the upheaval.

"Ao Yu, this is a rebellion!"

"Do you not fear the retribution of the Magic Empire?"

"You are a Court Mage!"

"..."

Wizard Shen Yu couldn't be bothered to look at their feigned bravado; with a wave of his hand, the vibrations intensified, causing all the shouting ministers to fall silent, unable to utter another word.

In reality, there were still some who were clever.

Such as the Left Minister.

He stood stunned, watching Wizard Shen Yu and these mysterious Magic Guides, as well as Aivlette, who now held a sword to the King's throat, and said nothing.

Especially when he saw the Court Mages entering from outside, clutching wands and all manner of Magic Guides, he understood even more clearly that this absurd coup might succeed in an even more ludicrous fashion.

His gaze quickly fixed on Wizard Shen Yu.

Just by observing the bewildered faces of the other mages, it was clear who was truly leading this coup.

And those mages were indeed confused.

When Wizard Shen Yu had notified them, each expected a bloody battle ahead.

But now, what were these Magic Guides supposed to be?

"Mage Ao Yu, these Magic Guides... may I study them? I'll pay you the highest research fee and solemnly sign a contract, absolutely respecting your intellectual property," a white-bearded mage couldn't help but ask Wizard Shen Yu.

"We'll talk about that later," Wizard Shen Yu brushed him off with a wave, turning his gaze to the King still seated upon the throne. After a brief silence, he spoke slowly, "Your Majesty, it is time for you to abdicate."

The King of Violet, in fact, was not all that flustered.

He had lost composure for only a moment, when the Kingdom Guard Captain was struck down.

But when Aivlette's sword came to rest at his neck, he grew calm again.

He knew his daughter well.

Patricide was not something Aivlette would commit; at most, she might put him under house arrest.

But that still meant the kingdom would truly fall into the hands of Aivlette and this young mage before him.

"I am willing to yield," the King's figure seemed to wither further; ignoring the blade at his throat, he turned his head to Aivlette. "But my daughter, are you truly ready to bear the burden of sitting on the throne, watching your subjects die one by one, witnessing your kingdom's annihilation under Divine Punishment?"

With those words, the struggling guards and ministers below grew still and silent.

They lifted their heads in disbelief, gazing up at their King.

Indeed, many among them sincerely believed that the presence of mages brought about Divine Punishment, and that so long as the mages were purged, judgment would cease.
