Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 42: Decisive Blow

On the blood-stained plains at the foot of Hesse Mountain, two vastly different armies clashed fiercely, engaged in a brutal struggle.

In this bloody bayonet fight, the stark contrast between the two races' combat styles was vividly displayed. The human front line seemed like an iron dam blocking the surging green tide. The Greenskins shouted fierce battle cries as thousands of goblins and beastmen fell, and huge monstrous creatures charged against the well-trained human infantry.

The attackers were continuously hit by the severe assaults of battle halberds and massive long lances in the middle of the battle formation. Meanwhile, the powerful bloodline power of the Knights occasionally burst forth, and sometimes just the shockwave from a Knight's mighty spiritual energy was enough to rout the cowardly monstrous creatures, especially the goblins.

On the other hand, the beastmen within the green tide were more difficult to stop. They often attacked the crucial points of the formation, forcing humans to face these Old World's fiercest warriors one-on-one. Human soldiers were simply not a match for the beastman warriors in these personal fights. These creatures, slow to move, could fight indefinitely, even with long lances piercing through their bodies.

Likewise, some excellent tactics could compensate for the lack of individual strength of human soldiers. Gunners and giant sword attendants formed tight phalanxes to bear the brunt of the charge, allowing the walking knights enough time to bypass the beastmen's flanks and then crush them.

Human soldiers repelled attack after attack, yet more and more enemies appeared on the road by the river. It seemed as if the beastmen and goblins were endless.

The massive advantage brought by numbers weighed heavily on everyone's heart like a black cloud pressing down on a city.

The dwarf, Belos Dragon Hammer, wielded a warhammer and smashed down a goblin that had charged in front of him, grumbling like a cannon: "Damn! These beastmen scum are utterly fearless. A dwarf has already shattered six or seven monsters, yet they continue to charge fearlessly. Big friends, we must think of something promptly."

At the rear of the formation, a sister of the Dawn Goddess Church raised her hand, triggering an explosion of green energy on the grass-covered plains. A searing heat wave and dazzling light erupted from the underground. The Divine Magic: Geysers caused subterranean springs to burst forth in the monster-crowded positions, sending dozens of monsters flying.

Though the destructive power was not enough to significantly impact the beastmen, they could stand up and continue fighting. However, the dazzling light of the divine magic still instilled fear in a large number of monsters, causing the courage of a dozen goblins to collapse completely. They scrambled up from the ground, screaming and fleeing the battlefield. They paid no attention to how frail the sister of the Dawn Church was. If they could break through the phalanx of guards and attendants at the front, even two or three goblins could bring her down, tear her soft nun's robe, and wantonly ravage this delicate girl.

Yet, the human knights seized this opportunity. While the monsters were mostly knocked down by divine magic and the army formation was shaken, Knight Oerstein decisively led three squads of armed attendants in a fierce counterattack.

A large number of beastmen had their morale shattered by this savage assault and fled from the front lines.

Beastmen had this distinct style; they joined battles fervently and fearlessly at the onset.

But if the battle dragged on and they remained disadvantaged, at a certain point they would suddenly lose interest in the fight, growing bored. Then, they would leave the battlefield without looking back, deeming their leader incompetent if he couldn't lead them to an exhilarating victory.

Subsequently, their belligerent nature would lead them to fight among themselves until the biggest, strongest, or most cunning Greenskin subdued everyone and climbed to the top of the tribe to launch another exhilarating war against humans and dwarves.

Therefore, a beheading strategy was the most effective against Greenskins. The biggest, strongest one in the green tide was usually the warlord or leader of their tribe.

The next best move was a rapid assault, causing them constant heavy blows so that they couldn't stand firm enough to enjoy the hacking.

Currently, Knight Oerstein's ferocious counterattack had destabilized the monster wave somewhat. Su Li, standing on the high ground, saw everything clearly and immediately seized the opportunity: "Impact Knights, launch a full-scale assault immediately. Don't give them time to regroup!"

The Impact Knights on the right side of the formation received the order and immediately mounted their horses in unison. The knights kissed their sharp swords, then under Hilude's forward swing of his longsword, everyone galloped forward.

A full five teams, sixty Impact Knights in total, almost the entire force of the Impact Knights in the Hesse Territory, charged forth.

Sixty blades gleamed ominously high in the air as the knights shouted a word, reaffirming their loyal vow:

"For Hesse, for glory!"

Filled with pride, Hilude pointed her horse towards the green wave ahead, raised the Fiery Sun Dawn Rune Sword in her hand that shimmered with golden light, and shouted fiercely:

"Follow me, warriors of the Bauhinia Clan, charge!"

A fervent cheer erupted from the human front line, and every pair of eyes turned southward.

The Greenskin boys and goblins hadn't yet realized what was happening, but soon the rumbling of the earth and the piercing blasts of a horn echoed over their positions, mingling with the goblins' terrified, shrill screams.

Countless Greenskins, hearts pounding with fear, looked south and saw squads of human heavy armored knights charging through their forces, deeply penetrating their positions. Many goblins and young beastmen didn't have time to resist and were trampled into pieces by the knights' surging assault. Riding lances pierced through one wide beastman's chest after another, longswords and warhammers cut left and right, and numerous monsters fell under the sharp offensive.

The Heavy Armored Knights, radiant under the sun and unstoppable, trampled hundreds of goblin monsters into fragments with a single attack, creating havoc wherever they reached.

Numerous young beastmen and goblins fled without a second thought, not daring to face this terrifying military front directly.

But there's no way back for them now!

Behind the monsters is the wide Brionne River, and each monster retreating backward only adds to the congestion of their ranks.

The anvil tactic has worked!

The monsters are driven to retreat by the knights, greatly compressing their movement area. Some weak goblins are directly trampled to death by the beastmen, while a large number of beastmen are crowded together with the goblins, unable to advance or retreat, unable even to swing their machetes.

They can only roar unwillingly, watching the elite human heavy armored knights charge ferociously, as countless long lances pierce through their formation, penetrating the ferocious beastmen's chests, spilling hot blood across the battlefield.

The knights' heroic charge evokes enthusiastic cheers from the soldiers on the chariots.

"Good job! Take down these sons of bitches."

"That's right, crush these filthy, stinking monsters to pieces."

"So mighty, charge bravely and fearlessly just like that! Push these sons of bitches into the river."

Watching the heavy armored knights, their armor shining under the sun, charging mightily, every soldier's longing to be a knight reaches its peak!

At this moment, the swaggering charging knights are veritable stars on the battlefield. In the face of their unstoppable momentum, no creature can stand in the way of their wild waves, not even a giant dragon! Under the blessing of divine grace, their sharp spears are sure to penetrate the toughest scales.

And if not even a giant dragon can stop the charge, then neither can the green tide.

Just as the human soldiers cheer, in the face of the knights' repeated fierce charges, the monsters keep retreating, continually compressing the space behind them. Already, over two hundred weak goblins have been squeezed into the raging Brionne River.

The battlefield space keeps narrowing, with thousands of goblins and beastmen squeezed into an area by the river roughly three or four acres wide, packed like sardines in a tin, with not even enough room to draw a bow.

Meanwhile, human bows and crossbows launch at will, arrows raining down, giving the monsters almost no place to gain a foothold on the battlefield.

Though the green skins are particularly fierce, when it comes down to it, their whole tribe, young and old alike, has been sent to the front lines. Many wretched goblins, usually only daring to steal from others, are among the five thousand strong wave.

They are timid, cowardly, weak, with crooked teeth and emaciated bodies, easily bullied by their tribe members.

Such a composition of troops can do well when things are going smoothly, but once they face adversity, their morale breaks quickly.

Visible to the naked eye, the green tide's morale is falling, with many goblins and young beastmen sneaking away.

Some cunning and shrewd ones directly leap into the river, Su Li sees several goblins floating downstream, bellies up, arms crossed behind their heads, disappearing downriver.

These goblins are scattered in every corner of the continent, with hidden goblin dens in the wilds surrounding every village. They steal property, even abduct women, hiding in any valley, cave, or forest.

So as long as they don't die on the battlefield, they can survive wherever they drift. Of course, even dying in the raging river is not a loss, staying on this fierce battlefield would only lead to worse death.

Seizing the opportunity, Su Li takes a deep breath and orders: "Musicians, blow the horns, launch a fierce attack, push the monsters into the water, a single strike to decide victory!"

The loud sound of the horn is like lightning tearing through the sky, and as the stirring military music plays, human soldiers immediately cheer, shouting angrily as they launch a fierce attack from all lines, with knights raising the red banner of the Bauhinia Clan, unleashing a full-force strike against the monsters.

The monsters are immediately suppressed by this formidable momentum, countless monsters falling beneath the sharp spear blades, with the retreating monsters forcing a large number of them into the raging Brionne River.

Unless something unexpected occurs, the human army can achieve the most decisive victory against the green tide without waiting for the divine grace of the Sun Goddess to be at its strongest.

But evidently, not all of the green tide consists of these ordinary cannon fodder units; they have their own trump cards as well.

Just as the human formation surges forward with their attack, the goblin sneaky infiltrators lurking all along finally reveal their lethal blades!
