Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 97: Plan of War

Veyron succumbed to his injuries just a few hours later. My mother and Liora were heartbroken by his death, but they had no choice but to move on.

Over the next few days we worked to prepare for the war. Derrick and Isabella worked together to train everyone for battle. Since the werewolves in our pack now had a high healing ability, they didn't have to hold back while training them.

In fact, I made sure to tell Derrick to give them the same treatment he gave me.

The women and children who couldn't fight were given other tasks to complete. Like fortifying the defenses. Even the elderly were given work. No one was spared.

While I, on the other hand, worked with Liora. We went over the battle plan Veyron came up with.

His plan was simple. He wanted to force the Nyx pack to attack at a single point. I agreed with this assessment. If the Nyx pack were to surround us and enter from the north, south, east, and west, then our forces would be spread too thin.

His plan was simple; he would only put a few men on the north, east, and west walls. These walls would be spiked, and the men on them would be carrying wolfsbane to deter them from climbing the wall. This would force them to attack from the south gate, where our main forces would be waiting for them.

It was a good plan, so to speak, but if things were to go as Veyron planned, then he would most definitely lose. The fighters of the Nyx pack were just too powerful and too many.

But now that they had gained my primordial bloodline, which made them stronger, they now had a higher chance of winning.

"What about Danzo?" Liora asked, "I've heard stories from Veyron. Danzo's power is unmatched. That's the reason why Roran was pushing for this marriage so much."

"I'll have to be the one to face him head-on. Did Veyron mention any specifics about Danzo's power?"

"He did say that the members of Danzo's lineage inherited a body-hardening trait. He also said that before the apocalypse Danzo wasn't as powerful."

"Really?"

That is strange.

"Yes, he said that before the apocalypse Danzo and Roran were on par when it came to strength. But after the apocalypse he tripled in strength."

What could have happened to make him change so much?

Well, it makes no use dwelling on it. The only way I would figure it out was by asking him directly.

"Umm… by the way" Liora suddenly took on a serious expression. "What do you plan to do when all of this is over?"

What do I plan to do?

"I plan on turning this place into a thriving settlement."

"Really!" Liora's mouth opened wide as if she couldn't believe that I had said that. "Who are you, and what have you done with my brother?"

"Is it really so strange?"

"For you? Yes. When I saw you stepped up to become the alpha, I was happy. Before I thought you would be like, 'I don't want to get involved. This has nothing to do with you… Liora, you solve this!"

She tried to do her best impression of me, but she wasn't good at it since it sounded nothing like me.

"I'll need your help if I am to make this pack a success," I said, cutting off her laughter.

"I think you'll do fine," she said, taking on a more serious tone. "You're already handling yourself well already. We can already feel the difference in how you do things from how Roran does things."

"Awhooooo!!!"

Just then another loud howl went off. And soon a hundred more followed. It was the Nyx pack. They were howling right outside our walls. They howled nonstop for a few minutes, then ceased.

They've been doing that from the first day they showed up. It was psychological warfare. They reminded us of the presence.

Their goal was to make us anxious so we would do something stupid and play into their hands. They also wanted to disrupt our sleep cycle. The howl of enemy wolves can affect the mind adversely.

But thankfully it had no effect on my pack since the bloodlust of a strong enough alpha could negate this effect easily.

"Anyway, the next thing we have to discuss is the Nyx pack setup," Isabella said. "I learned that their hierarchy was different from ours. Whereaswe have chiefs like the war chief, the guardian chief, the caregiver chief, and the hunting chief. The Nyx pack has generals. They have 3 generals in total. I don't have much information on them other than the fact that they also got a significant power boost after the apocalypse started."

"Three generals, huh? Isabella and Selthia can each face off against a general while you and Derrick take the other."

"That seems fine," she responded. "But are you sure those two can handle it? Especially since one is missing."

"It will be fine; don't worry."

"Fine, but we will still need someone to face off against the moon princess. The chief of the guardian is pretty powerful, and with the help of our mother, they could stand a chance."

"Don't worry about the moon princess. She won't be a problem," I said.

"Hmm? Are you planning to handle her by yourself?"

I suppose there is no harm in telling the truth.

"The moon princess is actually my fated mate."

"What?" Liora's expression froze still. "It can be. You're serious?"

I nodded my head.

"I can assure you that Sylvie is being held against her will by Danzo."

Danzo must be feeling pretty impatient right about now. Especially since nothing happened when he revealed to Kaelen what really happened to his father.

At first he most likely thought I was dead. But seeing Kaelen not return to him and the village still intact, he must've guessed that I was still alive. And that I was the one he was really going up against.

"OK, I trust you," Liora finally said.

Just like that the days passed, and the night of the full moon was finally upon us.
