Chapter131-The Thousand-Year-Old Sunshine Boy

Leo nearly dropped the teacup he had just picked up, looking at Reize with a bit of shock.

Reize, in turn, turned a deep shade of red, rushing forward to cover Amelia's mouth.

"President sir!"

"She... she's young, she doesn't know what she's saying! Please, don't misunderstand!"

"Mm..."

Amelia let out a dissatisfied murmur as her mouth was covered.

Leo looked at Reize, who was flustered and scrambling, then glanced at Amelia's innocent eyes, and a knowing smile appeared on his face.

"Reize, Reize..." Leo shook his head, his tone tinged with teasing. "I never thought that the usually serious Reize would be into kids?"

"This... this isn't good!"

Hearing Leo's words, Reize's face flushed even more, and he awkwardly lowered his head.

However, Amelia raised her clear eyes and timidly explained, "I... I'm not a child anymore... According to the elven calendar and the lifespan conversion with humans, I'm already 19!"

19 years old was indeed considered the beginning of adulthood, leaving the childhood phase behind.

However, Leo's surprise hadn't yet subsided.

He waved his hand, and a gentle wave of energy immediately enveloped Amelia, temporarily teleporting her to the other side of the courtyard.

Looking at Reize, who was so embarrassed he seemed ready to bury his face in his chest, Leo's voice remained surprisingly calm.

"Reize! What is this nonsense? You're facing such an innocent elven girl, and you don't feel guilty at all? What are you planning to do about this?"

Hearing this, Reize tightly pressed his lips together, remaining silent, his head lowered even further.

Amelia's unexpected answer had caught him off guard, but for some reason, he didn't feel the urge to rebut or defend himself in this awkward situation?! Perhaps, deep inside, he felt strangely pleased with what Amelia had said but didn't know how to accept it. After all, he was just a thousand-year-old sunshine boy...

Seeing Reize like this, Leo shook his head.

"You had the chance, but you're no good at this. No wonder you've been single for so long!"

His tone softened somewhat.

"Reize, if you two really care for each other, I won't interfere. After all, this is your personal matter, and I have no right to meddle. But..."

He changed the subject.

"I don't want my trusted Commander to be someone who's frivolous and irresponsible in matters of the heart."

Of course, Leo's words were more of a gentle reminder and warning.

He could tell that Reize was serious this time, though he was too shy to express it. The elven girl, Amelia, also had pure eyes, and she seemed to be a good person.

If they truly cared for each other, they were actually quite a good match.

More importantly, this seemed to be the first time Reize had shown any romantic feelings for a female, which intrigued Leo. After all, Leo had watched Reize grow from a young, skinny boy working in a blacksmith's shop to the man he was today.

In a sense, Leo thought of him as both a brother and a father figure.

For all these years, Leo even suspected that Reize might not have had much interest in emotional matters. But now it seemed that Reize had just never met someone who could stir his heart.

Hearing Leo's earnest words, Reize's eyes reddened slightly.

He raised his head and looked at Leo with determination.

"President, I swear on my sword and honor that I will treat Amelia with sincerity and will never betray her trust!"

Leo slowly nodded.

As for Amelia openly calling him her soulmate, Leo decided not to delve into the details of what had happened.

Well, maybe there was a tiny bit of envy deep inside him, though he would never admit it.

He waved Reize off.

"Go ahead, I'll have a private chat with Amelia."

"Yes, President sir."

Reize respectfully bowed and exited the courtyard.

Once Reize had left, Amelia's figure appeared back in the courtyard. She seemed somewhat confused, still trying to understand what had just happened. She lowered her head awkwardly as she noticed Leo studying her.

"Amelia," Leo's voice was gentle.

"What do you think of Reize? What kind of person is he?"

"Ah?"

Amelia blinked, momentarily caught off guard.

Leo patiently repeated, "I mean, in your heart, what kind of person do you think Reize is?"

Amelia fell silent for a moment, seemingly in deep thought. Then she slowly raised her head, her eyes filled with sincerity.

"Reize-dàren... he's a really good person."

"He saved me from that terrible place, gave me a place to stay, and has been very kind and considerate to me."

She paused for a moment, her voice soft but firm.

"When I first saw him, I felt... he is a person with a very gentle yet strong heart."

Upon hearing this, Leo finally allowed a smile of satisfaction to appear on his face.

This was the first time he had heard someone describe the usually stern and iron-willed Reize as gentle.

It seemed that this unexpected fate might truly become a beautiful story!

In the end, Reize, with a spring in his step, took Amelia's hand and left the President's residence.

This scene surprised many who knew Reize's usual demeanor.

They had never seen this cold-faced commander smile so... goofily!

...

In the former Dalton, inside an inconspicuous tavern.

Two people entered the tavern, leading a young man with a sharp expression, and headed straight to the table at the back against the wall.

"Lord, we've brought him."

Walter was leisurely sipping a mug of ale when he heard this, and his gaze shifted to the young man.

This was the same young man who had reported the underground casino to the Dalton Guard.

"Sir, I greet you."

The young man immediately bowed upon seeing this mysterious superior.

Walter casually waved his hand, taking another sip of his drink.

"You handled this well. From now on, you'll be working in my intelligence team," Walter said.

Upon hearing this, the young man's eyes lit up with uncontrollable excitement.

The position of this officer in the Hat organization was far higher than he had imagined!

He knew that promotions and transfers within the organization were highly regulated, with each member shouldering an important responsibility. Yet, this officer could casually reassign subordinates!

It had been worth all the time and money he had invested to infiltrate the casino. That casino had been under strict surveillance by the Hat organization from the very beginning.

But Walter hadn't personally intervened, sending others to monitor the situation instead.

Dealing with matters involving large families in the city and confronting them head-on wasn't something Walter was suited for.

After dismissing a few people, Walter drained the rest of his drink.

"Boss, check please."

A seemingly ordinary tavern owner approached with a smile.

"Sir, this drink is on me."

Walter paused slightly, looking at the tavern owner with suspicion.

Noticing Walter's scrutinizing gaze, the owner cleared his throat.

Without a trace, he subtly rolled up his sleeve, revealing a hidden insignia on the inside of his wrist.

Seeing the mark, Walter's mouth twitched involuntarily!
