Reincarnated as a Lizard

Chapter 139: The Mountain Gnoll General... Delivers a Gift?

Rumble~!

However, before she could come to a decision on whether or not to lend a hand to the mountain gnolls and assist them in killing the mountain dwelling troll to save herself from the future problems, a loud rumbling sound echoed out behind the mountain gnolls struggling against the mountain dwelling troll.

Followed by the mountain gnolls slowly moving to the side to make a path through the narrow mountain path, where a massive figure slowly became visible… And as the figure came into view, Scaly could not help feeling a shiver run down her spine as she witnessed a massive mountain gnoll close to the same size as the mountain dwelling troll stepping forward.

[Mountain Gnoll, General, lvl 59]

Inspecting the powerful mountain gnoll that had just appeared, Scaly could not help narrowing both her eyes upon seeing that it was actually only a single level away from reaching level 60.

Although it had not yet managed to cross over that barrier, she had a feeling that it was no weaker than the humans who had reached or were above level 60 that she had encountered. The only human still far stronger than it being the terrifying crimson flame knight human who had caused a disturbance throughout the entire mountain range earlier with his attack.

Rooar!

At the same time that Scaly was awed by the strength of this new mountain gnoll, the mountain dwelling troll who was facing this powerful mountain gnoll also felt the clear difference in strength between this new mountain gnoll and the ones that had been attacking it so far. Forcing it to prepare itself for a possible final struggle against this powerful opponent.

To put it into simple words, it was a clear difference in their evolutionary level. Even if their levels weren't that far apart, the evolution of the mountain gnoll general was clearly far above any of the other mountain gnolls. Resulting in it being far stronger than them.

In a sense, it was the same situation with the drake that resided on top of the tallest mountains of the mountain range and Scaly herself. The evolutionary level was what kept them at the top of the hierarchy even though their levels might not be the highest. Especially Scaly, who was essentially only level 9 at the moment…

ROOOAR!

As the mountain dwelling troll was preparing itself for battle with this new and powerful opponent who was by no means weaker than itself, the mountain gnoll general didn't let out a terrifying roar instead of the normal growling sound that the rest of the mountain gnolls made before it charged towards the mountain dwelling troll filled with killing intent.

ROOOAR!

Not one to be outdone when it came to roaring, the mountain dwelling troll let out a similarly loud and confident roar filled with killing intent before responding in kind and charging towards the approaching mountain gnoll general.

Rustle~!

Of course, sensing the imminent clash between these two powerful monsters, the mountain gnolls who had been fighting the mountain dwelling troll a short time earlier quickly retreated to avoid getting caught up in the battle.

All of them understood that when these two monsters went all out and the mountain dwelling troll was forced to the brink, it might want to try and take some of them down with it after it realized that it wouldn't have a chance to take down the mountain gnoll general, something that the mountain gnolls wanted to avoid.

BANG!

Not a second after these weaker mountain gnolls had retreated, did the mountain dwelling troll and the mountain gnoll general violently clash with each other in the middle of the narrow mountain path, causing rocks and debris to fly around them as both used their powerful strength to contend with each other without relying on any weapons.

Crack-!

A battle of pure strength alone that caused the ground beneath their feet to start cracking under the tremendous pressure. Even causing small cracks to start spreading up along the side of the rocky walls encasing the mountain path. Making it unstable and causing a few smaller rocks to fall down on them from above.

Not that any of them cared about this, as the small rocks didn't cause any harm to them and only served to force the weaker mountain gnolls to retreat even further back to avoid being caught up in the battle between the two…

How powerful! Would I be like this if I chose to evolve my strength instead of my magic?

Observing the battle playing out below, Scaly could not help showing a hint of admiration towards the two powerful monsters, as she finally managed to catch a glimpse of the power of those who decided to follow the path of pure strength.

Although she didn't feel any interest in changing her path from magic, she did start to wonder when she would be capable of causing that kind of damage with her magic. After all, the most she could do at the moment with her magic was flood a small area. Nowhere near the level of causing the ground to split apart around her at the mere presence of her magic.

Hopefully with her next evolution, her magic would also evolve along with it and become a bit more destructive than it was now. Not just to increase the strength of her magic, but because she felt that it would be a requirement for her to have that kind of magic if she wanted to look as awesome as the two monsters currently fighting in the mountain path below did.

Of course, she also began to think more about her ice magic, as different from her water magic, it did have a solid form and seemed to be capable of causing far more damage to her surroundings than her water magic.

Then again, it could also just be that the level of her water magic and magic was still far too low. After all, if she could use magic capable of flooding the entire mountain range like she imagined a powerful dragon should be capable of, the destruction of her water magic would be unmatched even by something like fire magic that could cause things to blow up!

But… Now that there is a far more powerful mountain gnoll around, it might be harder for me to get my hands on the body of the mountain dwelling troll after it dies. Even if the damage caused to the rocky walls lowered the mana required…

Sighing to herself as her thoughts returned to her original goal of seizing the body of the mountain dwelling troll, Scaly could not help lamenting that it had become far more dangerous compared to before to get her hands on the body of the mountain dwelling troll after it died.

If she wanted to have any chance at getting it, she could only hope that the mountain dwelling troll would be capable of injuring the mountain gnoll general enough for him to retreat after the battle. Giving her a chance to collapse the rocky walls to block the path and descend to eat the mountain dwelling troll while the mountain gnolls were busy trying to move through the blocked path.

Unfortunately, as she looked down at the battle between the mountain dwelling troll and the mountain gnoll general, she was disappointed to discover that the battle was a rather one-sided ordeal.

Given that the mountain dwelling troll had already sustained a lot of injuries and had been fighting for over an hour beforehand, it was unable to put up a real fight against the mountain gnoll general. Only able to delay the inevitable, as it continued to sustain more injuries, while its recovery speed continued to decrease. Showing that there was a limit to how much the troll could recover.

Riiiip-!

ROOOOAR-!

In the end, the mountain gnoll general managed to take advantage of the weakening mountain dwelling troll to directly rip off one of its arms before throwing it into the air-

Plop~!

Huh?

Where it soon landed right next to Scaly who had been observing the battle from above.

Although this had only been done because the mountain gnoll general wanted to prevent the mountain dwelling troll from reattaching his arm again like it had done in the past, Scaly wasn't one to complain when a gift was thrown at her.

Not to mention the problem of seizing the rest of mountain dwelling troll's body, she would at least be able to find out about whether or not she would be able to absorb dragon blood from others to increase the purity of her own dragon blood with the help of the arm that landed in front of her.

Chomp!

And so, while still paying minimal attention to the battle that was taking place on the mountain path below, Scaly didn't waste any time as her teeth sank into the oddly tender flesh of the troll arm filled with excitement at the prospect of increasing the purity of her dragon blood.
