SSS Ranked Awakening: Starting With My Limitless Cosmic Shadow System

Chapter 0091: Finding The Scarf

Modret flew a long distance with the little girl in his arms.

More than an hour after flying, the little girl woke up and, not seeing her sister around, she started sobbing silently.

Without seeing Modret and Axel with her sister, how could the little girl not understand the fate that had befallen her sister?

How could she not tell that out of all her family members, she was the only one left in the world?

It was something hard to endure even for the little girl.

Modret at first had thought of taking the little girl to see the scenery in the skies but knew that would only make her much sadder.

He could only stay silent as the girl cried her eyes out.

After a few hours of crying, she fell asleep once more in Modret's hands.

Gradually, their terrain changed from the trees and slight buildings they were used to and began having traces of ice and snow.

Although it was a slow change, in the next instant, the change continued and soon became something else.

The familiar world of ice.

Modret instantly activated the Null Fire to try to keep the little girl warm; after all, he, with his many abilities, could withstand the chill in the air, but the little girl couldn't.

Soon, he could see the familiar building from a distance, only it was already in ruins.

A frown surfaced on Modret's face, and his expression became chilling as he scanned the area, searching for what or who was responsible for the destruction.

'Could it be Troy? No, that's not possible, I recall him leaving after he was done with me, so it has to be someone else…' many thoughts swirled into Modret's mind.

But he didn't let them cloud his vision or judgment as he continued on his way.

Their speed remained at the same pace as they gradually neared the location of the destroyed hut.

Finally, after a long journey, they reached the place.

Modret's gaze scanned the surroundings, searching for what was responsible for the destruction of the tent.

The wind was still chilly, and there was no sign of a Celestial Gate or a Star Beast.

Aside from that, there was nothing of notice in the surroundings, as snow seemed to have covered the footprints of whatever it was.

Modret held the girl gently in his arms and approached the destroyed tent.

On getting there, he raised it up slightly but didn't find anything underneath it.

Everything else was destroyed, and the scarf in particular was missing.

'Who the hell took it?' Modret's rage was already boiling over.

He shifted his gaze and scanned his surroundings once more but didn't notice anything.

"Young master…" Axel finally called out.

Modret could still sense the anger and hatred in his calm but respectful voice.

"What is it?" he questioned as he approached Axel.

Axel smoothly pointed at something in front of him.

It was the footprint of a beast, and it led in a particular direction.

"Awakened beasts did this?" Modret raised a brow suspiciously.

Axel shook his head. "We can't be certain of anything yet, but it's a likely guess."

Modret furrowed his brows in deep thought.

"I'll set up the tent with Angel here while you scout things out. Let's know if it's something we can handle easily."

"Yes, young master."

Axel nodded then vanished into specks of shadow.

Meanwhile, Modret calmly wrapped the little girl in flames and the shadow puppet strings to restrict her movements so she wouldn't accidentally burn herself.

After doing that, he approached the destroyed tent.

It wasn't completely destroyed and could still be salvaged from the bits and pieces left of it.

Having learnt how to set up a tent a long time ago, it didn't take him long to resolve the tent issue.

After he was done, he gently placed the little girl who was sleeping peacefully into the tent.

Still, even as the little girl slept peacefully, Modret could see tears trailing from the corner of her eyes. It was obvious she was having a dream relating to what had happened to her sister.

After gently tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, Modret paced around calmly, waiting for Axel to return.

On Axel's end.

After leaving Modret, he followed the trails he could find, occasionally getting lost in some while figuring out a way to track down the others.

Thankfully, he had learnt beast tracking from his father.

Even though these were awakened beasts, they were no different from their unawakened counterparts, possessing the same habits and behaviours.

Due to the fact that he lost track of the beast a couple of times, it took him some time before he finally tracked down the awakened beast.

And to his surprise, it was located atop a mountain.

It was a mountain built of ice, and he could even see the glass-like structure from afar.

Terrifying pressures pressed down on him the moment he approached, and aside from that, surrounding the mountain were three Celestial Gates.

They were centered around the mountain in the form of a triangle, and they radiated an intense dreadful pressure that caused even Axel to subconsciously take a step back.

'This is… a pressure above the universe level?'

Axel wasn't certain, but he could faintly guess that there was most likely a beast above the universe level.

He hesitated briefly, then sneaked into the encirclement.

Outside, he could see a multitude of awakened beasts patrolling through the place as though they were checking out something.

He could see their alert gaze scanning the surroundings suspiciously for any issues.

Axel paused once more, deliberating on whether he should continue or not.

After a slight pause, he decided to continue so he could see whatever was going on.

He waited for the group of six awakened beasts who were at the cosmos realm to pass before heading deeper into the towering structure that seemed like a pyramid.

He stopped once more upon sensing another patrolling squad before continuing on his way.

Surprisingly, the inside of the mountain was spacious enough for the beasts to be able to enter, and even from the distance, Axel could already hear loud shouts of the beasts entering into his ears as though they were celebrating something.

He frowned briefly, then continued deeper, eager to see whatever this was about.
