"It's much better than before… believe me. She didn't rub it in the boy's face… and I assume she was acting arrogant before the fight to get him riled up, right? That was part of your plan? You just wanted to prove yourself?" My maid of death smiled at Ada.
"Uh, y-yeah!" She exclaimed, clearly just going with the flow.
"Mhm… Anyways, let's get you washed up. Then, we'll discuss the real reason why I came here."
"Hah! I knew it! You didn't come here because you loved me!" My daughter shouted almost smugly as if she wasn't offended by this thought.
"*sigh*... just get washed up."
…
"So, where is your father?" I asked the prince as we ate at the main dining table of this palace. It was beautifully decorated but also unnecessarily large.
"He's out right now. If you have any problems, I can relay it to him if you would like," The boy replied, using the perfect form to cut his pancakes.
I then looked over at my daughter, who was sweating profusely, trying her best to copy his form, but in the end, just resorted to her casual way of eating, making me chuckle just a bit.
"You two are like polar opposites," I smiled, sipping on the juice presented to me. I had already eaten before coming here, so I just watched the two awkwardly interact with each other as I sat across from them.
"Anyways… Mom, what is the real reason you came here?"
"Ah, yes. Well, it's something I would like to discuss in private with you. So I'll just talk about it after we eat. Although, as of now, I would like to know how your relationship is progressing?"
The two children both took a few seconds to process my question before scoffing and turning away. Clearly, they weren't amused by my joking attitude.
"I'm assuming nothing has happened besides this little duel of yours… will you have another one today? The healers here must be quite amazing if the injury I saw online was instantly regenerated."
"Well, we do have many connections…." The prince puffed out his chest proudly while Ada just rolled her eyes.
"If you have as many connections as you say, then can you help me find the location of somebody? He's originally a Japanese citizen, and although he is probably older than your father, I'm sure you could find him for me, right?"
"Depends on who it is. If you're coming to us, he must be pretty important."
"He is, and I'm sure you've even met him before. The Hero of Summoning," I smiled gently, causing the boy to shiver in his seat. "You can find him for me, right? I just need to have a little chat with him about something."
"He should be on the front lines…" the boy began to sweat, keeping his eyes on his breakfast.
"No, I'm talking about the real body. Not that fake who kills small fry… I want the real body. Find him for me, and I'll reward you greatly."
"And what can you present to me that I already don't have?"
"Interdimensional travel. I'll offer the technology I have discovered. In exchange, you will find me the Hero of Summoning. It will be his MAIN body."
"I just… need a bit of time. I have to discuss this with my father as it is a matter of a hero reigning from our country… I can tell you are lying. I know you want to kill him."
"And what makes you say that? Do you even believe I could be able to kill him, or do you know something I don't? Is he weakened? Has he lost some of his power?" my smile slowly grew as I leaned over the table, my face coming closer and closer to the boy's quivering pupils.
All of a sudden, a spark of bloodlust erupted across the room. It was the servants planted around the corners of this massive dining hall, and they weren't happy as I came off as threatening towards their little prince.
Feeling their threats practically radiate through the room, I backed away but stayed standing up.
"Teach your pets manners before I kill them all," I stared down at the boy, and he tried to keep up a stern and unphased expression, but it was easy enough to break it down and force him to lift up his hand.
All of the servants left the room instantly, although their bloodlust was even stronger than before.
"Mom… can't you just relax and enjoy the meal instead of interrogating the prince?" Ada asked.
I ignored her and shifted my eyes back to the prince, who almost seemed to shrink back in his seat. "You have a week otherwise, I'll be going straight to your father. If you want to prove you're powerful, then use this chance to prove something in your life for once."
Provoking the boy was more than enough for me to get him to do what I wanted, and even though Ada was frustrated by it, she couldn't help but admit it was a decent plan.
"Fine… I'll do it myself. And I take all the credit, not my father."
"Are you sure you want the credit for helping find the man who's going to die? The all-powerful and ever so famous hero…?"
"No, I want the credit of discovering interdimensional travel. I doubt a public enemy would ever try and use that fame… so I'll just use it to boost my own cred'? Decent enough deal?" The boy shot out his hand for a handshake.
"I like you…." I smiled, shaking his hand before sitting back down.
This boy was just like his father, so I couldn't help but dream of what he would grow up to be. In a new world created and ruled by Tolf… I wonder where he would place. Or would he even accept such a position underneath the rulers?
I wouldn't be surprised if ever led some kind of rebellion.
