The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 354: Kumo

"Don't be surprised. This is the reflection of your soul, so I guess you haven't matured much, huh?" She lightly chuckled, but soon my image began to distort, and I returned to my mature adult form. "Oh my."

"To answer your question from before… you are still in the realm of the gods but in our own domain. Nobody can hurt you here besides the supreme god, although we have already settled everything. You still need to meet with her one more time and-"

"N-No, I don't want to see her again. She's terrifying," My voice quivered, my body shaking in tandem as my mind itself began to go back to those horrifying minutes.

"Oh, baby, I'm sorry," My mother whispered, hugging me once again and then lay down right next to me. "My Mistress may be harsh, but she will never kill or torture you. She is justified in her own right to act like this… but I've made sure and guaranteed that she won't touch your daughter… as long as you retrieve the blade for her. It's as simple as that,"

"I-I understand…."

I was just relaxing in the cottage bed, still trying to wrap my head around this entire situation, when a woman with longer spider-like legs extended from her back.

Her hair was white, and so were her eyes, but the highlights of pink shimmered like a bright nebula in space, allowing a few drops of light to set upon me.

She had a tall slender body and was dressed in a beautiful white dress with also pink streaks to match her hair… but what was so strange about her were her pupils.

Yes, they were white, but she had four pupils in each socket, one with a different shape like an X, a diamond, a square, a circle, or even a triangle.

The pupils shifted around her sockets, allowing her to analyze and scan the surrounding room before all eight of them darted toward me, sinking straight into my chest.

"Wh-Who-"

I paused for just a moment as a particular memory rose to the surface of my mind where I knew I had encountered this woman before… and now I was seeing her again right in front of me.

Before, she had the presence of a god, but now, she had absolutely no presence which could either mean two things.

One, I was completely out of her league, to the point where even I couldn't even grasp the nature and scale of her power.

Two, she was hiding her power and presence in order to pull something bad… and it was so bad that she needed to make sure nobody knew she was here.

"A-Are you here to kill me?"

Her expressionless face softened into a smile, sending a wave of warmth through me, but before I knew it, I couldn't move a single inch of my limbs, no matter how hard I tried.

"*sigh*... I'm not here to kill you. I just thought I had encountered somebody familiar, and I guess I was right. You've grown strong. Very, very strong, and that appeases me. It's nice to see somebody so hardworking actually succeed and not die,"

"Th-thank you?"

She sat down on the edge of the bed, her head slowly turning towards me like she was in a horror movie, and as her pupils all landed on me, I felt another shiver drift through my mind, allowing me to move once again.

"I just want to apologize for the actions of my partner. She's been very cruel to somebody as young and small as you, so please try not to be too angry with her,"

"That's impossible. She's threatening me with my own child,"

"Well, she does have something that belongs to her. If she really wanted to, she could have killed you and your daughter and your family and all your loved ones with just a snap of her fingers in order to retrieve it,"

"Then am I supposed to say thank you? That's just common courtesy… not fucking slaughtering people just for the sake of a little sword."

"Well, that little sword is a shard part of her own weapon. An all-powerful one that can take the form of any weapon without losing power,"

"Is that what's so special about it? If so, that's a lame reason for putting my family and me in danger,'"

"Well, it can also destroy realities," The woman smiled, and as I replayed those words in my mind, I felt yet another shiver shoot down my spine. "It can destroy anything. Logical or illogical. Physical or non-physical. It can destroy anything you can think of… and that's precisely how she usurped the title of [God],"

"That's overpowered as shit? And she just had that with her? If I had that, I could have become a fucking god as well?"

"Maybe you could have, but she did fight for the parts. She was killed numerous times in order to allow the creation of such a weapon,"

"Oh…."

A few silent minutes passed, and it was slowly getting awkward between us, the natural tension between us slowly fizzling out.

"So, what do you want? What are you here for?" I asked, holding my hand from shaking just from the presence of this woman.

Her power and presence began to swell next to me, once again causing goosebumps to erupt from my skin, layering and coating my body until no soft patch of skin was left.

"I didn't come here for much… but I lied about coming for you," She smiled, her pupils one by one shifting to the doorway, which had my mother standing there, a plate of food right in her hands.

"Get away from my daughter."

"Don't worry. I wasn't going to do anything. You're too uptight…." She chuckled before wrapping her arm around me and bringing my head into her lap. "She reminds me of my own daughter… how I missed the days when she was but a tiny child."

"What do you really want, Kumo?"

The spider goddess smiled, the spider legs attached to her back wriggling for the first time since coming here.
