"This Northern Desert Sect is truly audacious, daring to challenge all five Half-Saint powers alone!"
"What five Half-Saint powers? It's clearly only four. The Extreme Cold Manor isn't even worth mentioning compared to the other five."
"..."
While the spectators gossiped noisily, the faces of the other four Half-Saint faction leaders turned dark and grim.
Among them, Liu Zongzhu of the Radiant Sword Sect looked the most displeased. Under his leadership, the Radiant Sword Sect had thrived in recent years, and he had even begun to harbor ambitions of unifying the six Half-Saint powers of the Northwest.
But he knew that was impossible — the Holy Lands backing the other five forces would never allow such a thing.
So, Liu Zongzhu had settled on a long-term strategy: gradually devour the others bit by bit. Just as his plan was steadily taking shape, the Northern Desert Sect suddenly brought out a decrepit old ancestor — completely disrupting his designs.
If today the Northern Desert Sect truly achieved its goal and obtained the Sacred Artifact of the Extreme Cold Manor, then even if they failed to unify the Northwest, they would almost certainly give rise to a Saint.
At that point, the Radiant Sword Sect would be forced to bow its head, and Liu Zongzhu himself would become the laughingstock of the entire region.
"Amitabha."
The abbot of Heart-Unity Temple, Master Jue Ming, suddenly rose and bowed with his palms together. "My Heart-Unity Temple may lack such an ancient ancestor, but we will not surrender so easily. Ancestor Wu Xiang, I must trouble you."
Though his words declared his stance, everyone could tell he was subtly pointing toward the Extreme Cold Manor.
Many turned their gazes toward Bing Yan.
Yet she remained composed, calmly sipping her tea as if none of this had anything to do with her.
Seeing this, the disciples of the Extreme Cold Manor clenched their teeth in frustration.
If they could, they would have stormed forward to scold her right then and there. They could not fathom how the elders had allowed such a ruinous woman to temporarily lead the Extreme Cold Manor.
"Amitabha."
Great Sage Wu Xiang slowly stepped out from among the crowd. He bowed toward the Blood Coffin and said, "This humble monk, Wu Xiang, has come to challenge the senior within. I humbly request that you reveal yourself."
As soon as his voice fell, a hoarse and ancient voice echoed from within the Blood Coffin.
"Young one, you have only comprehended two hundred and sixteen Dao Truths. You are not this old man's opponent. It is not too late to admit defeat now."
The voice was quiet, and every word seemed to drain the speaker's remaining vitality.
Yet every syllable sent a shiver down the hearts of everyone present.
Two hundred and sixteen Dao Truths — that was the level of one who could ascend to Sainthood at any time.
And still, such a cultivator was dismissed as insignificant by the speaker within the Blood Coffin. This only deepened everyone's curiosity about what kind of being lay inside.
Great Sage Wu Xiang's eyes flickered with surprise. It was true that even among Great Sages there were vast differences, but for someone to see through another's cultivation so easily, only two explanations existed: either the opponent possessed an awakened bloodline, or his comprehension of the Dao Truths surpassed one's own by more than double.
At this point, Wu Xiang no longer dared to gamble, but since his juniors had already spoken boldly, he could only grit his teeth and say, "To witness the senior's power is this monk's honor. Please, make your move."
"So be it. Since you wish to see the old man's strength, unleash your full power."
The tone of the speaker within the Blood Coffin remained calm and indifferent, revealing nothing of his true strength.
"Amitabha."
Great Sage Wu Xiang chanted solemnly, taking a step forward to stand in midair.
He did not hold back. Within a single breath, a colossal golden Buddha image manifested behind him, towering hundreds of feet high.
As his title suggested, it was a faceless Dharma manifestation.
Just standing there in the heavens, the image filled all who beheld it with an irresistible urge to kneel and worship.
At that moment, the voice from the Blood Coffin sounded again. "A hundred-zhang Golden Body Manifestation… I did not expect you to have received the inheritance of the Great Thunder Sound Temple. Very well. With that, this old man's palm strike should not kill you instantly."
Great Sage Wu Xiang was not angered by those words. Instead, he maintained a respectful tone and asked, "Amitabha, may I ask how to address Senior, so that this humble monk may lose wholeheartedly?"
"A name is nothing more than a mark," the old voice replied slowly from within the Blood Coffin. "It has been too long — this old man no longer remembers his own surname or name. In my youth, I followed my grandfather and the army of the Northern Abyss Imperial Dynasty in campaigns across the vast world. I always charged at the forefront of battle, wagering my life in every fight. Thus, I earned the title of 'Little Wolf God.' If you do not mind, you may call me the Wolf God Great Sage."
The old man's speech was unhurried, but every word was clear and resonant.
"Wolf God Great Sage?"
The older cultivators among the crowd repeated the title under their breath, and soon, someone cried out in shock.
"He… he's the direct grandson of the Wolf God Emperor — the strongest Great Sage of the Northern Desert Sect!"
Divine Emperor.
Those two words alone were enough to make every person present tremble. To them, such a being existed only in legend.
Yet now, they were witnessing the descendant of a Divine Emperor personally take the field. It was a fortune earned through eight lifetimes of cultivation.
On the Radiant Sword Sect's platform, Sect Master Liu's expression turned bleak the moment he heard that name.
The old man sitting behind him said quietly, "Sect Master, today's defeat is not your fault, but ours for being too weak. However, this old man will not allow the name of the Radiant Sword Sect to fall into disgrace."
Liu Zongzhu turned to him anxiously. "Ancestor Wuming, do you truly intend to face the Wolf God Great Sage?"
"As sword cultivators, we advance and never retreat. If we shrink back before a mighty foe, how could this old man, the foremost of the Radiant Sword Sect, still face the world with honor?"
While they spoke, the duel in the heavens had already begun.
The Blood Coffin creaked open slightly, revealing a narrow gap. A withered, colorless hand emerged, reaching out toward the towering Golden Body behind Great Sage Wu Xiang.
It was a lifeless, emaciated hand — so thin it seemed a mere breeze might shatter it.
Yet, when it struck through the air with the gentlest motion, it carried a power that felt as if it could annihilate the heavens themselves.
Though the palm was not directed toward the spectators below, its pressure alone made everyone's legs tremble uncontrollably.
Several weaker cultivators fainted on the spot.
Boom!
A thunderous sound erupted from the hundred-zhang Golden Body. In an instant, the massive figure disintegrated into dust.
Great Sage Wu Xiang was sent flying, his body spinning like a severed kite before crashing down toward the arena below.
Boom!!!
He struck the martial platform with such force that it left a massive crater, and billowing smoke obscured the scene entirely.
Then, his strained voice came from within the dust and rubble: "Thank you, Senior, for showing mercy. My Heart-Unity Temple concedes."
At those words, the withered hand withdrew back into the Blood Coffin.
The cultivators of the Northern Desert Sect erupted in jubilation.
"Ancestor is invincible!"
"Ancestor is eternal!"
"..."
The Sect Master of the Northern Desert Sect swept his gaze across everyone present and said coldly, "Next."
"The Snowmist Nation concedes and offers its Sacred Seed."
"The Cloudnight Nation concedes and offers its Sacred Seed."
"The Starwatch Pavilion concedes and offers its Sacred Seed."
In the blink of an eye, out of the five Half-Saint powers, four had already surrendered.
All eyes now turned toward the Radiant Sword Sect.
