Bloodweaver

Chapter 87: Mayhem

Dominique rampaged across the arena floor with terrifying momentum. Her aura deepened into a shadowy pulse, almost imperceptible - yet the sheer density of her body made her feel like a wrecking ball. Pillars cracked under her steps. Tiles exploded beneath her feet.

She was weight incarnate. Unstoppable. Uncaring.

She barrelled through the panicked crowd like a juggernaut, and civilians were little more than ants beneath her fury. One poor soul tried to scramble away, too slow. Dominique's arm lashed out and swatted him sideways like a broken puppet. He slammed into a support beam with a crunch that echoed. His body lay limp, yet he didn't get a hint of attention from anyone.

Everyone was scrambling, more worried about their own survival amid Dominique's rampage.

Another woman tripped, screamed - then vanished beneath Dominique's descending boot. The scream turned to a sickening wet snap. Blood painted her heel.

But Nadya?

Nadya moved like fire given form - quick, precise, surgical. Her explosions weren't chaos. They were choreography. Pinpoint bursts of heat and force, each one calculated to perfection, blasting her from floor to wall to beam with liquid grace.

She zipped over the chaos, a streak of flame in the air, and spotted a young couple huddled behind a shattered table.

With one flick of the wrist, a controlled orb burst mid-air behind her. Nadya launched herself upwards while gently blowing a shield of debris away from the pair.

"Stay low!" she shouted. "Keep behind cover! Don't move!"

The youth nodded, clutching his girlfriend tightly. Nadya didn't wait - she was already gone, streaking toward Dominique like a homing missile.

'I have to confront her directly or she'll end up massacring everyone here.'

As much as Nadya wanted to avoid it, knowing it would be difficult, she didn't have any other choice.

But it was too late; the real madness was just getting started...

Some in the crowd - desperate, stupid, or high beyond reason - injected themselves with TEMP-Z. Syringes clattered to the floor. Needles bit flesh.

And within seconds, hell bloomed.

One man screamed as his muscles ballooned grotesquely, skin tearing as his body bulked up twice its size. His pupils dilated, foam dripping from his mouth as he roared and charged blindly, only to be crushed instantly under Dominique's next leap.

Another woman gasped in awe, her hands crackling with electricity. "I can feel it—I can feel everything!" she shrieked, bolts surging around her in erratic bursts.

Behind her, a kid barely out of his teens blinked as his skin turned transparent, showing organs and veins glowing with violet energy. "I'm… I'm invincible!" he cried, seconds before getting caught in someone's wild swing and smashed through a craps table.

Adrenaline surged. Sanity vanished. The high of power took over.

TEMP-Z turned wannabes into monsters, and almost all of them couldn't handle it.

Screams filled the air. Explosions erupted from other mutants. A man flung someone across the room with telekinesis that he didn't know how to control. Someone else with steel-hard skin shattered a bartender's skull with a single headbutt.

It was mayhem. Beautiful, bloody, unfiltered chaos.

Dominique didn't slow. She stomped through it all like a goddess of death. A mutant tried to punch her - she shifted instantly, aura glowing darker, her body dense as iron. The man's fist shattered on her cheek.

She laughed and grabbed his neck.

Crack!

His body dropped like meat.

"You think I give a damn about these insects?" Dominique bellowed, ploughing through a row of chairs. "Brooklyn raised me in hell! When the Z-Virus came, I didn't beg - I broke people! Crushed skulls! Took what I needed!"

She smashed through a food stall like a wrecking ball, blood and hot oil splashing around her. A vendor screamed as metal beams and her weight collapsed onto him.

"I clawed my way through the underground! Broke bones, snapped spines - I earned my crown! I became the fucking queen of Venom!"

Nadya landed gracefully atop a lighting rig, palms blazing, jaw clenched.

"I know," she shouted over the noise. "I was there when you were crowned. And I was there when I took your eye."

Dominique's roar sent chandeliers rattling and rafters shaking.

"You think that cheap shot made you better than me?! You're nothing but a coward!"

"I've always been better," Nadya shot back, and then-

Boom!

An orb detonated behind her, flinging her downward. She rocketed through the haze of smoke, neon, and screams, angled her body mid-air, and twisted.

Crack!

A brutal dropkick slammed into Dominique's shoulder.

The big woman stumbled, but didn't fall. Her aura flared dark, body turning dense in an instant to absorb the blow like a slab of mountain.

Dominique snarled and spun, snatching a screaming bystander by the collar.

With no hesitation, she hurled the man at Nadya like a weapon.

Nadya's eyes narrowed. She twisted in a blur, an explosion bursting from her palm to redirect her spin, catching the flying man mid-air and landing him safely behind a broken bar counter.

"Stop using people as projectiles, you psychopath!"

But it was too late for so many others.

Bodies littered the floor - crushed, flung, melted by wild powers, torn by unstable mutants born of TEMP-Z. The crowd had become a battlefield. The scent of blood, smoke, and burned ozone filled the air.

Drugs. Death. Screams. Ecstasy.

The Serpent Pit had always been a monster's den. But now, the monster was unchained.

Dominique thundered forward, eyes locked on Nadya and no one else.

"You made me bleed once," she growled, low and guttural. "This time, I'm going to grind your bones into paste."

Nadya just grinned, flipping backwards, her feet landing atop a burning roulette table that sparked with broken wires.

She raised her hands - twin orbs flickering like miniature suns, their light bright and contained.

"You're welcome to try, Viper. But I'm not that rookie from years ago."

And with that, they clashed again.

Smashing through halls, ceilings, and underground chambers. Dominique levelled walls in her pursuit, her dense body cratering floors and crushing everything in her path.

But Nadya kept moving - a blur of flame and force, outpacing her, baiting her, setting up the next blast.

Their war tore the underbelly of Venom apart, and it seemed as though Kai's battle with Zeke wasn't over just yet, either...
