"Mr. Chen..." Qian Guomin began, "I've looked into the last incident. It's true that you saved Elder Sun with acupuncture, and I admit that in many cases, traditional Chinese medicine does have the potential to turn the tide!"
He didn't entirely deny it, starting instead with praise. But he soon sighed and shook his head. "This time, however, is completely different. Elder Sun just had a sudden cerebral hemorrhage. The blood vessels in his brain have ruptured; this is simply not something traditional Chinese medicine can treat! Not to mention, the man is already officially dead!"
His expression was filled with helplessness as he finished. There was simply nothing that could be done.
"The way traditional Chinese medicine determines death is different from yours," Chen Zheng said, shaking his head slowly. "You rely solely on machines and data to declare someone dead. We, on the other hand, respect the patient's will. As long as the body still has warmth, anything is possible!"
"Mr. Chen, this is no joking matter!" Qian Guomin's voice turned cold. This guy is far too arrogant! I'm a neurosurgery authority, the most renowned in all of Jingzhou. If I say someone can't be saved, there are absolutely no exceptions. Even sending them to the capital would be useless.
"Step aside," Chen Zheng said with a nonchalant wave of his hand, not bothering to argue further. "Don't get in my way."
"You..." Qian Guomin's face instantly darkened. This man is too much.
As if to prove his point, he reached out and lifted Sun Zhengtang's eyelids. The man's eyes were completely blood-red, looking as if they were about to bleed.
"Do you see? His brain is completely engorged with blood. Even surgery is useless at this point!" Qian Guomin scoffed mockingly. "Do you think you're some kind of god who can bring him back from this?"
"Vice President Qian, please step aside immediately and don't get in the way of Mr. Chen saving him!" Sun Doudou spoke up, her voice equally cold.
What Qian Guomin didn't realize was that, to Sun Doudou, Chen Zheng was no different from a god.
He was about to say more, but seeing that Sun Doudou had spoken, he didn't insist. After all, her family were the hospital's investors, and he had no right to object. He could only snort coldly and stand to the side with his arms crossed, assuming the posture of a mere spectator.
In the end, I'm not the one who will lose face. I have to see what tricks this guy has up his sleeve to bring a dead person back to life. Especially one with a cerebral hemorrhage!
Chen Zheng quickly stepped forward, took out a Great Origin-Nourishing Pill, and stuffed it directly into Sun Zhengtang's mouth.
Seeing this, Qian Guomin slowly shook his head. The man has already lost all signs of life; medicine is completely meaningless at this point. Even if he swallows it, his body can't absorb it! This guy must be a charlatan!
He had no idea that as the Great Origin-Nourishing Pill entered Sun Zhengtang's mouth, it instantly melted and spread throughout his body.
Chen Zheng then took out his silver needles and began his treatment. After nearly thirty minutes, he finally finished. By then, his forehead was covered in sweat, and he felt extremely weak. Continuously using such an advanced acupuncture technique exacted a terrifying toll on him. He had reached his limit.
"Is that it?" Qian Guomin sneered. "Why hasn't he woken up yet? Miss Sun, I don't mean to discourage you, but this person is very likely a fraud. These days, swindlers have all sorts of tricks, and it's easy to be fooled!"
The other nurses also shook their heads. Many of them had previously witnessed Chen Zheng's methods, which truly seemed capable of bringing the dead back to life. At the time, they had all thought he was no different from a deity. But looking at the situation now, it seemed that was just a fluke. What a shame the former chief physician had been inexplicably dismissed over the incident. Thinking back on it now, it all seemed so unbelievable.
"Vice President Qian," Chen Zheng said calmly, "don't be so quick to judge. Why don't you check on him again?"
Qian Guomin paused, then shook his head with great disdain. "Mr. Chen, must you insist on embarrassing yourself?"
This was a massive cerebral hemorrhage with no time for surgery. Does he really think feeding him a random pill and poking him with a few needles would fix it? What a joke!
Despite his thoughts, he couldn't resist stepping forward to check on the patient in the same way he had before.
"See? Are you convinced now?" Qian Guomin burst out laughing, because Sun Zhengtang's eyes were still an incredibly horrifying, bloodshot red. "Mr. Chen, oh, Mr. Chen... you really are a stubborn one." He shook his head in utter disdain.
"You folk healers, with no credentials or professional knowledge, I bet you haven't even seen a single scientific paper, have you?
"It's not that I look down on you, but do you really think that we formally educated doctors learned everything for nothing? Do you have any idea how much effort we've put in, how much sweat we've poured into our work behind the scenes?
"If folk healers like you could easily best us, then wouldn't our decades of study have been a complete waste?"
Qian Guomin was particularly irritated with Chen Zheng because the former chief physician who had been dismissed was his student. Now, that student had his medical license revoked and could only stay at home. Seeing his student's downfall, Qian Guomin seized the opportunity to mock Chen Zheng.
"Why are you all looking at me like that?" Qian Guomin demanded, suddenly noticing that everyone's expressions were off. "Did I say something wrong?"
"Vice... Vice President Qian... Elder Sun, he..." a nearby nurse stammered in utter shock.
"What about his eyes? Aren't they still the same as before..." As he spoke, Qian Guomin turned to look. The words died in his throat as he froze completely.
Because...
The crimson in Sun Zhengtang's eyes was rapidly dissipating. They were returning to normal, his pupils beginning to focus.
Not only that.
The monitor beside the bed suddenly beeped. His heart had resumed beating, and all his vitals began to normalize.
In other words...
Chen Zheng had truly pulled Sun Zhengtang back from the brink of death.
