The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 222 Mockery!

"If he wants to go, let him. No one is forcing him to his death!" Chen Zheng casually shook his head, too lazy to explain further.

After all, he knew the strength of the people inside better than anyone. This old fool is definitely marching to his death!

"Such arrogance!" Liu Changhai's beard trembled with anger. If he wasn't mindful of the other man's military status, he might have already charged forward to teach this sharp-tongued brat a lesson.

"Chen Zheng!" Long Tianyun roared, calling him directly by his full name. "Don't think you're the only one who's capable while everyone else is useless! And don't you dare think our Central Plains Department can't get anything done without your help! I'll say it again: we don't need your people interfering in this matter!"

This guy is truly too arrogant! I refuse to believe we can't accomplish anything without him!

Chen Sheng frowned slightly and shook his head with a hint of resignation before waving his hand.

At that moment, a dozen or so shadows suddenly appeared around the parking garage, swiftly retreating into the distance. One of them walked directly toward Chen Zheng and stood respectfully at his side.

It was Zhao Feng.

A cold smile touched Zhao Feng's lips. If the trusted aides hadn't completely locked down the parking garage, the people inside would have burst out long ago with their level of strength! How could Long Tianyun possibly have the chance to stand here spouting nonsense?

Seeing this, the others were stunned on the spot. They had no idea that so many people had been hiding nearby.

Long Tianyun's expression turned grim. He never imagined that the border forces had arrived so long ago without giving any warning at all. It was a humiliating slap in the face.

Liu Changhai was also perplexed for a moment, but he quickly shook his head with a scornful smirk. Even if these people seemed mysterious, their movement techniques were probably just slightly better than average. When it came to a real fight, only true strength mattered.

"Young man," Liu Changhai began, a mocking smirk on his face, "I'm not afraid to make a bet with you. If I rescue the hostage, you will immediately kneel before me in front of everyone and kowtow three times. How about it?"

"After that, I will permit you to become my disciple!" he added. He proposed such terms not only because he was deeply annoyed, but also because he coveted the influence behind Chen Zheng. No matter how you looked at it, he was a regiment leader and a member of the Association. If he could be won over, Gao Feng would have one less card to play.

"Cut the crap," Chen Zheng chuckled, shrugging with complete indifference. "Let's see if you can even make it out of there alive."

Zhao Feng's face was also filled with disdain. This old man must be tired of living! To think he'd dare say, in front of everyone, that he wanted to take our God of War as his disciple? What an absolute joke! With Chen Zheng's current power, this old man wouldn't even qualify to be his disciple's disciple!

"Alright, kid, I'll take that as you accepting the bet!" Liu Changhai sneered. He then turned to Long Tianyun. "Commander Long, I am about to move, but as for the things we agreed upon earlier..."

"You can rest assured, Master Liu," Long Tianyun said, gritting his teeth. "Our Marshal is a man of his word. As long as you can rescue the hostage safely and deal with those people, you will have the first pick of the spoils!"

These were their pre-arranged terms, and at a time like this, he had to honor them.

"Very good," Liu Changhai said, casting a sinister smile at Chen Zheng. "Then all of you just watch!" He then abruptly stamped his foot, launching himself lightly into the parking garage entrance without making a single sound.

The pitch-black entrance was perfectly silent.

"Master Liu is truly worthy of being Master Changyun's younger brother! Such incredible skill! He'll surely be able to rescue the young miss!" Long Tianyun exclaimed, deliberately glancing at Chen Zheng with a sneer.

Does he really think the world can't turn without him? The Central Plains Department has plenty of experts! Once Master Liu kills the enemies and rescues Miss Feng, let's see if Chen Zheng still has the face to stay here.

At this tense moment, everyone stared anxiously at the entrance to the parking garage, their hearts pounding with uneasy anticipation.

Before long, bursts of fierce fighting erupted from the underground garage, punctuated by Liu Changhai's furious roars. But the sounds didn't last long before they quickly faded away.

Just over ten minutes later, a disheveled, blood-soaked figure shot out of the entrance. His speed was incredible—far faster than when he had gone in.

"Master Liu?" everyone cried out in shock.

The figure was none other than Liu Changhai, who had charged in so confidently just moments before. But now, he had clearly suffered severe internal injuries. He clutched his stomach tightly as blood seeped continuously from between his fingers. If he weren't a master of internal arts, he would have already been dead.

"Those bastards..." Liu Changhai gasped, his expression aghast. "They... they ambushed me! Such despicable, shameless scoundrels!"

"Master Liu... what happened?" Long Tianyun was stunned beyond belief.

"Commander Long, this mission is likely a failure," Liu Changhai said, his face deathly pale as he shook his head with great difficulty. "Rescuing her is impossible. You should just attack directly!"

He had just experienced the terror of the people inside. Even with a few more men, he knew they would be no match.

"This..." Long Tianyun was dumbfounded.

The hostage is still in their hands, so how can we possibly attack? Most importantly, they have the items we brought out of the secret realm. If we bombard the place with heavy weapons, those items will be destroyed! If we weren't worried about those things, why would we have gone to such trouble and expense to ask for your help?

Just then, Chen Zheng unfastened the cloak from his back, casually handed it to Zhao Feng, and began to walk slowly forward.

Seeing this, everyone froze. Liu Changhai frowned, a mocking sneer forming on his lips. "Kid, didn't you hear me?"

"Even I am no match for them. What good can you do?"

"This isn't a game. You could get yourself killed..."
