Roarrr!!
Firetail roared loudly and then snubbed at Davy-chan before inviting Hulu to move away from the old grouch. With such a vast space to play in, there was no need for them to stick close to these two old guys.
"Wow! Look at him, acting all tough now that he's a bit bigger. And that arrogant one, so happy to have a dragon as a friend. If you're really that tough, stay haughty all the time!"
Davy-chan shouted at the arrogant pets who were ignoring him, his loud voice. He was so annoyed he wanted to go smack them both on the head.
"Hahaha. Davy-chan, why do you keep picking fights with them!"
Hisa-chan laughed at Davy-chan's angry demeanor.
"They really deserve a good smack on the head. Come on, missy must be awake by now."
Davy-chan grumbled as he stood up, inviting Hisa-chan, who was still laughing, to head back inside the Castle of Death.
After resting for a few more hours, Kearick led Chang Long to the throne room, where a large black hardwood throne stood. It was adorned with silver and gold carvings and various colorful gemstones. Chang Long's friends, including Kitsune, were awestruck by the throne's grandeur and beauty. Only Chang Long was not as excited since she had seen it in her dreams before.
"Amazing! This throne belongs to Chang Long?"
Wet Trash Can exclaimed in astonishment as he approached the throne for a closer look, just like everyone else.
Kearick disappeared behind a curtain of black velvet into the room behind the throne and soon returned with a black, intricately carved wooden box about a meter and a half long and around thirty centimeters wide. Kneeling, he respectfully presented the box to Chang Long with both hands.
"What's this?"
Chang Long frowned and asked, but Kearick just smiled and continued to hold out the box, waiting for her to take it.
Reluctantly, Chang Long accepted the wooden box amid her friends' curiosity. They gathered around her, eager to see what was inside. She gently placed the box on the ground and carefully opened it.
"Oh!" Oliang and Wet Trash Can exclaimed simultaneously.
"Is this, that thing!?"
Aden looked at the contents of the box, then at the Sovereign Sword hanging at Chang Long's waist.
"It's beautiful!"
Peach Blossom admired it, her eyes unblinking.
"No wonder. I always wondered why Chang Long carried a sword without a sheath."
Valentine laughed.
Chang Long reached out and took the scabbard of the Sovereign Sword, made of gleaming crystal and edged with pure white silver. Small silver studs shaped like winged skulls with daggers piercing through the skulls adorned the scabbard. She then drew the Sovereign Sword from her waist and sheathed it for the first time.
As the Sovereign Sword was sheathed, it emitted a brilliant light in shades of fiery red, white, and blue, causing everyone to shield their eyes. When the light faded, they saw that the eyes previously visible on the blade were now also on the scabbard.
"Whoa, that's super fancy!"
Kimhant exclaimed loudly, causing everyone to laugh at his childlike excitement.
"How old are you, Kimhant? You're acting like a kid!"
Peach Blossom scolded him, noting his youthful face and childlike behavior.
"I'm 15! I'm not a kid!"
Kimhant pouted at Peach Blossom.
"You're younger than Peach Blossom!"
Siegfried chuckled, while Peach Blossom's eyes widened in exaggerated disbelief. How could this cheeky kid be younger than her?
"So, Chang Long, what are you going to do with this Land of the Dead?"
Oliang asked seriously after admiring the Sovereign Sword's Sheath to his satisfaction.
"Hmm, I'm not sure. What do you think, Kearick?"
Chang Long seemed quite troubled by this matter and turned to ask Kearick, who now looked almost human except for his pale skin and the black eyeliner that matched hers.
"For you, who are currently on a journey to hone your skills while waiting to face the six remaining Heirs of the Pirate King, shall I contact your remaining guards to gather forces in preparation?"
Kearick replied solemnly. He had heard all about Chang Long's story from Davy-chan and wanted to support her as well.
"You can do that?"
Draco, Oliang, and Wet Trash Can asked simultaneously. They were affiliated with guilds and were waiting for the next patch to engage in battles for special area with other guilds. The idea of amassing forces was very appealing to all of them, except for the handsome guild leader who stood by, looking unperturbed.
"Of course, as long as the ruler commands what she want this land to be, we guards will follow without question!"
Kearick vowed with firm seriousness.
"Suit yourselves… By the way, have we completed the mission to rescue the twelve living people yet?"
Chang Long asked, glancing around for the twelve.
"It's done, but it seems like we didn't get anything from it because your fire destroyed everything, including the dead's treasure chests."
Valentine smiled.
"Then where did they go?"
Chang Long asked, still puzzled, as she could not see the twelve anywhere.
"Kearick already sent them back. We were waiting for you to wake up so we could return together."
Siegfried answered with a warm smile.
"Then we must return to our original dimension. Thank you for your help, Kearick."
Chang Long nodded, feeling a bit shy about making eye contact with Siegfried after the Samurai Cemetary incident. She glanced at Kearick, who unintentionally broke his stern demeanor and smiled back happily. He knelt and respectfully bowed to Chang Long as a loyal servant.
"This way, Master."
Kearick gestured towards the side wall of the throne room, where several large round mirrors were.
"Wait for us."
Davy-chan, Hisa-chan, and Chang Long and Draco's pets came running in, panting.
"I completely forgot about you guys."
Chang Long laughed, making everyone else laugh as well.
"As a royal guard of the Reaper King, who holds dominion over the dead, I command the portal to open to the human dimension now!"
Seeing everyone was present, Kearick reached out to the mirror and opened the portal.
"See you later."
Chang Long gave Kearick one last look before stepping into the mirror, which now looked like a silver pool. As the portal was closing, Kearick remembered something and shouted into the portal, hoping they would hear him.
"Be careful, Your Highness, because the living who enter the Land of the Dead often return with bad luck for a full day!"
"Hehehe, and you're telling me now..."
Chang Long let out a frustrated laugh, as the place they had stepped into was a field surrounded by hundreds of large, red-brown bulls.
Snort Mooooo!
The sound of snorting and the cries of the level 30 Young Bull Beasts made everyone shiver. There were hundreds, each pawing the ground, ready to charge at them.
"Runnnn!"
Lidded Wet Trash Can shouted loudly. He saw what seemed to be the lead bull charging towards Chang Long's group, which stood huddled in the center. Everyone scattered in different directions in panic. The Young Bull Beasts broke into groups, chasing each person. The one most chased was undoubtedly Draco, who was wearing a red armor suit, along with Firetail, whose body was as red as flames.
"Damn! Why are they chasing me more than anyone else!"
Draco yelled, seeing twice as many bulls following him as anyone else.
"Ahhhh! Help me. I can't run as fast as you guys!"
Peach Blossom screamed, the bulls were closing in on her as her clothes were red too.
"Peach Blossom!"
Siegfried rushed to help his sister, who was so scared she could not do anything, even casting a simple spell to ward off the bulls.
"Your clothes, Peach Blossom! They make male beasts weaker, don't they!"
Draco shouted, reminding the girl.
"They do, but I can't get a chance to use it. Ahhhh. It's going to gore me, helpppp!"
Peach Blossom screamed as the leading bull lowered its head, ready to charge at her.
"Firetail, fly up! Why are you running with me?"
Draco shook his head at Firetail's lack of intelligence, who was screaming and running closely behind him. Firetail just recalled after being warned and took off into the sky, looking relieved.
"Can you believe that..."
Oliang said, astonished.
"Is there anyone in our group who's fully sane?"
Wet Trash Can was running beside Oliang who shook his head.
"If there's anyone in our group who's least sane, it's you!"
Oliang muttered to himself, not wanting his friend to hear.
Valentine and Aden, both skilled ninjas, swiftly reached a large tree unscathed. Chang Long and her companions were able to brace themselves to fight the bulls comfortably, as Davy-chan and Hisa-chan had not yet fully reverted to their ghostly forms.
"Sieg, we need to stand and fight; otherwise, we'll be running ourselves ragged!"
Draco shouted to Siegfried, who was helping Peach Blossom.
"Yeah, I think so too!"
Siegfried replied.
"Good! Firetail, breathe fire to block the bulls chasing us!"
Draco yelled at Firetail, who was hovering above. Firetail quickly responded to its master's order by breathing a long line of fire to block the bulls that were chasing its master.
"Grilled bull meat doesn't sound bad!"
Wet Trash Can said, feeling hungry after smelling the scent of grilled meat from the Young Bull Beasts. He and Oliang joined up with Draco and Siegfried, ready to fight the herd of bulls together.
"Let's go!"
Siegfried gripped his sword and turned to face the first bull charging through a small gap where there was no fire.
"Yeah!"
Everyone responded, turning to face the charging bulls without fear, knowing Firetail was covering them from above.
The sound of hundreds of bulls' hooves thundered, accompanied by the intense sounds of battle, shaking the ground. Players around the basin-like field peeked over in shock. Some even ran away in fear, thinking the bulls had gone berserk and were attacking players indiscriminately again.
"Who the hell dared to mess with the bulls? This is going to be a bloody mess!"
Said one player fighting beasts near the field, feeling horrified.
"Who cares who it is, let's just get out of here. Last time we barely escaped when some idiot made the bulls go berserk and they started goring players all over the place,"
said another player in the same group, with anxiety.
"Hehe, right. Everyone else seems to be leaving too,"
said the first player, quickly killing the beast he was fighting and running away from the area.
"Hey! Look, it's a dragon!"
a player shouted, noticing Firetail flying over the field.
"A bright red dragon with sharp spikes all over its body, and its tail tip constantly aflame... There's no mistake! That's a rare monster, the Fire Dragon!"
One player shouted excitedly. The players who were about to leave turned to look where he was pointing.
"You're from the Journalists and Writers Association,"
one player recognized the person pointing at the Fire Dragon.
"Yes, I'm a journalist from the Journalists and Writers Association."
"Hmm? You say that dragon is a rare monster?"
Several players asked, suddenly interested in the dragon. Instead of fleeing, they rushed to watch the chaos in the Bulls Field, thinking if the Fire Dragon was unclaimed, they might have a chance to tame it as a pet!
"Definitely! It usually lives around active volcanoes. I don't understand how it ended up in this Bulls Field near Longshan City!"
The journalist kept taking pictures of Firetail while answering questions. He had been with the Journalists and Writers Association for a long time and studied the game extensively. Gathering information about monsters was not easy without some connections to high-ranking members in the association.
"Maybe it came here looking for something different to eat that it couldn't find near the volcano,"
one player suggested, laughing at his own idea.
"I don't care about that. I just want to get a closer look. Maybe I can tame it as a pet!"
Another player rubbed his hands together excitedly and ran back to the Bulls Field without fear. If he could catch the Fire Dragon, whether for himself or for sell, it would be worth it—even if it meant dying a couple of times.
When there is a leader, there are followers. The players around the area followed the first player back into the Bulls Field, ignoring the risk of being gored by the bulls. Their focus was now entirely on the Fire Dragon flying above the field.
"Hehe, I should follow too. With so many players heading there, I probably won't get gored. And I might also get some good news for the paper!"
The journalist ran after the other players who were heading to the Bulls Field, also eager to get closer shots of the Fire Dragon from various angles.
