Finally, Chang Long's efforts paid off as she managed to climb onto the head of the Hoop Dragon King. She had to sit and catch her breath for a moment before continuing her next move. Meanwhile, Oliang and Siegfried struggled to climb the slippery scales of the Hoop Dragon King and had barely made it halfway. Oliang, moving as cautiously as a slow turtle, feared slipping and falling to his death.
"Wow..."
Wet Trash Can muttered in shock as he noticed a crater that looked like a giant basin, about twenty meters deep and stretching out of sight. Initially, he had sensed the ground sloping steeply but had not seen the crater due to the lingering dust. Now that the dust had settled somewhat, he could see the extensive damage.
"Is the crater really this big!?"
Oliang gasped, staring down from his resting spot.
"We're lucky to have escaped that giant energy ball in time,"
Siegfried said, his tone reflecting Oliang's awe.
"At this rate, this place might turn into a lake,"
Chang Long muttered to herself. She then stood up, summoned Davy-chan to possess her body again, and approached the half-closed eye of the Hoop Dragon King.
Shunk!!
Without hesitation for time, place nor fear toward doom, Chang Long drove the Sovereign Sword into the left eye socket of the Hoop Dragon King with all her strength, embedding the blade to the hilt. Blood gushed out like a burst pipe.
Crackkk!
A thunderous roar erupted from the Hoop Dragon King's mouth. It thrashed violently in pain, forcing Chang Long and the two men climbing up to grab onto anything they could. Chang Long held onto her sword, still embedded in the dragon's eye, as her secure anchor.
"Whoaaa!"
The two men yelled in surprise, quickly grabbing onto the dragon's upturned scales, which acted like spikes.
"What's happening!"
Oliang asked, confused by the dragon's violent thrashing.
"Chang Long must have started her attack. Let's move quickly!"
Siegfried urged.
"How can we move? It's hard enough when it's still, and now it's thrashing around. Just holding on is tough enough!"
Oliang responded, struggling.
"But it had started moving, if it reaches the starting town, what then? We have to do something!" Siegfried insisted as the Hoop Dragon King began to flap its wings and lift off.
"Maybe we can deal with it here,"
Oliang suggested, thinking it was better than risking a fall, as it would be an ugly death.
Siegfried considered Oliang's words and looked around hoping to a potential weak spot of this Hoop Dragon King. Eventually, he found one.
"There!"
he pointed out to his friend with a hopeful tone.
"Alright..."
Oliang replied, not entirely confident but recognizing that it was a better option than climbing further.
At the Southern Sea Abyss, the battle for territory between the native monsters and those migrating from the Royal Cliff continued fiercely. Players searching for the hidden tomb of the Pirate King found themselves caught in this chaotic conflict. Even the two notorious guilds, Doom Star Guild and Dark Horse Guild were struggling.
"What should we do, boss?"
One of the players asked his leader anxiously. Their group had suffered heavy losses from the monster skirmishes, reducing their numbers from fifty to just over ten.
"Form a defensive line!"
The leader ordered, his face tense.
"Hey, everyone, isn't that the guy who took down the Avian Humanoid Beast King that attacked the starting town!"
A player, stuck in the nearby area shouted, recognizing the person they called leader.
The frightened players turned to look at the person the first player pointed, hope rekindling as they recognized the person who had been featured on the front page of the city's newspaper as the hero who had saved the starting town.
"Mr. Orion!"
The female players chorused excitedly, thrilled to see their hero.
"Mr. Orion, please use the spell that turned the entire area into a sea of golden flames, like when you defeated the Avian Humanoid Beast King! That way, we might have a chance to survive!"
One of the female players pleaded, causing others to buzz with agreement, leaving Orion momentarily stunned.
"Boss..."
Orion's subordinate called softly, noticing his prolonged silence.
"Um... that's a high-level skill I learned from an NPC in the Longshan City on Aseana Island. It has a cooldown of seven days, and it consumes a lot of energy. I can't use it unless absolutely necessary,"
Orion explained with a smile, causing a wave of disappointment among the players.
'Damn it, I shouldn't have taken credit for that. Good thing I came up with an excuse quickly, or I'd be in lynched, sigh!'
Orion thought to himself.
"We need to do something, or we'll all die here. We can't even use teleportation scrolls to return to the city in this area!"
Another female player said, glancing at the large stone wall behind them.
"That's right! If you could handle an Avian Humanoid Beast King easily, these creatures should be no problem for Lord Orion of the Doom Star Guild, right?!"
A seductive female player clung to Orion's arm, batting her eyelashes repeatedly. Orion, swayed by her charm, nodded in agreement.
"Awesome. Now this is a real hero who doesn't need fermented bull hero can."
A player praised, sparking cheers of agreement. Orion snapped out of his daze, his face turning pale.
"Well then... please take care of it, Lord Orion!"
The seductive player said sweetly, pushing Orion with a strength, surprisingly strong for a woman into the midst of the monster battle.
"Shiiit!"
Orion shouted in panic as the monsters on opposing sides unleashed their skills simultaneously. Realizing his fate, he quickly pulled out a teleportation scroll from his chest and activated it. The guild members and other players watched as Orion turned into a white light just as the monsters' attacks collided at his position.
"What?"
The seductive player gasped in surprise.
"Oh, come on. What the hell were you thinking! Pushing him into the middle like that? Even a high-level player would meet a grisly end. Now who's going to help us fight our way out of here?"
Other players angrily berated the woman for her reckless actions.
"Ahhh!"
Orion's scream continued as he was teleported back to the starting town, just in the nick of time, though battered and bruised. The players in the city turned to look at him with concern, fearing that a monster might have followed him into the city via the teleportation scroll.
The townspeople sighed in relief when they saw it was just some filthy, disheveled guy screaming his head off. He was covered in dirt and his hair was a mess, making him look nothing like his usual self. This was because he was hit by the monster's attacks just before the scroll teleported him back to the town
"Ouch. Damn, that hurts! I should've known better than to fall for her big boobs. Almost didn't make it out alive. Luckily, I managed to use the teleportation scroll once I got out of that cursed cliff area,"
Orion muttered to himself in frustration as he headed towards the inn to rent a room and rest.
"What the hell was up with that cliff? Why couldn't I use the teleportation scroll there? Wait a minute..."
Orion stopped dead in his tracks, eyes widening in realization, a thought striking him like a bolt of lightning. His sudden stillness drew amused glances and laughter from the passing players.
Meanwhile, Oliang and Siegfried were struggling, climbing the slippery scales of the Hoop Dragon Beast King to reach its flapping wings. Their goal was to immobilize its wings. Chang Long was furiously punching the wound she had inflicted, causing the Hoop Dragon Beast King to roar in agony, its cries echoing across the southern part of the starting island.
"Now!"
Siegfried shouted, raising his golden sword high before bringing it down on the base of the Hoop Dragon Beast King's wing. Oliang did the same on the other wing.
Seeing that their attacks were effective, the two men continued to hack and slash at the bases of the wings, causing blood to seep out. The Hoop Dragon Beast King's body wobbled dangerously before crashing to the ground with a thunderous impact, sending dirt and rocks flying everywhere.
Wet Trash Can, who had been on guard, managed to avoid getting crushed in time and quickly climbed onto the Hoop Dragon Beast King's body.
The Hoop Dragon Beast King seemed to be momentarily paralyzed. Seizing the opportunity, Chang Long withdrew the Sovereign Sword from its eye and began stabbing it repeatedly.
Whirl... whirl... whirr...
The Hoop Dragon Beast King's body started spinning horizontally, slowly at first, then faster and faster. Not wasting the chance, Chang Long stabbed the sword into its other eye before she would lose her balance.
"Ahhh!"
Oliang screamed as he was flung off the Hoop Dragon Beast King's body, managing to grab hold of its wing. The centrifugal force of the spin made it difficult for him to hold on for long. Siegfried, also slipping, struggling to maintain his grip, was unable to assist. Wet Trash Can regretted climbing onto the creature.
On the sixth floor of the Royal Cliff, a massive tornado began to form from the Hoop Dragon Beast King's rapid spinning. Its agonized roars could be heard, its body was clearly visible even to those in the town and nearby areas.
Kitsune rushed with all his might to help his beloved master Chang Long, but had to stop abruptly once more. This time, Siegfried's egg began to heat up intensely, forcing him to quickly remove it from the bag before his back got scorched. Upon taking it out, he saw that it was glowing brightly in alternating black and gold, accompanied by a loud, rhythmic thumping that resembled a heartbeat.
"What's going on with this egg now?"
Kitsune muttered, looking down at the egg on the ground with frustration. He could not help but feel pity for himself, having to babysit two such demanding eggs.
Kitsune hesitated, looking at Siegfried's egg, unsure of what to do. He could not abandon it, but it had become impossible to carry it any longer. The egg did not seem to accept him.
"Hey, Siegfried's egg. I'm taking you to your master. If you don't cooperate, I'll leave you right here!"
Kitsune spoke firmly to the egg. Seeing no immediate reaction, he decided to leave, thinking that if it would not let him carry it, it would not let anyone else either.
But just as Kitsune was about to walk away, the egg stopped glowing. The young fox smirked and returned to pick it up. He continued walking, soon arriving at the chaotic scene, which had grown even more disastrous.
"Dear gods!"
Kitsune exclaimed, his eyes wide as he saw the massive tornado moving rapidly towards him.
"Oh no! ...This is baaad"
Kitsune turned and prepared to sprint away, shouting in panic as Siegfried's egg floated towards the swirling vortex.
Thwack!
A debris of tree branch struck Siegfried's egg, making a loud crack. Kitsune felt a pang of sorrow; he had taken such good care of the egg, only for it to shatter itself.
Whoosh!
When the egg broke, it emitted a bright light that enveloped the area, forcing everyone to close their eyes against the intense glare.
The four individuals clinging to the Hoop Dragon Beast King's body tumbled to the ground, disoriented. The tornado vanished without a trace, along with the Hoop Dragon Beast King itself.
As the light and dust cleared, they saw Siegfried standing, frozen in shock, holding something in his hand. Not far from him lay fragments of the broken egg. Without needing any explanation, they knew that Siegfried's egg had hatched.
"Hey! Siegfried, did your egg hatch? What did you get, can I see?"
Wet Trash Can, who recovered faster than the others, quickly got up and ran to Siegfried. Oliang, despite his own injuries from the high fall, followed suit.
Siegfried opened his hand to show his friends. In his palm lay a black ring shaped exactly like the Hoop Dragon Beast King. Though it was the same size as a regular ring, its wings and eyes moved as if it were alive.
