Chapter 40: Regazan The Blood Faun 2

"Soul Manifestation…"

"Rings of Calamity…"

The goat-like creature's voice pounded off the walls of the room as if more voices backed up its already resonating feedback.

The floorboards beneath its hooves cracked and a glowing purple-ish light of hexagonal pattern burst outward, interlocking rings of violet light from beneath its feet, expanding until it covered the entire office.

The tension in the room could be cut in half by a blade and the walls seemed to groan from the pressure.

I felt the outburst of Anti-arcane before I even saw the effect, an invisible pulse that sent my instincts into harewire. Then, the temperature dropped and my breath came out in quick, visible little puffs.

The creatures's shadow began to move independently from its body, rising and wrapping around it like smoke that was sentient.

The red line on its skin had grown thicker and even more redder than a few seconds ago, its horn grew larger by a few centimeters and the muscle mass packed behind ints shadowy form was incredible.

"Alright…" it growled, tilting its horned head toward me with that same, predatory grin that exposed its reddish teeth. "Let the fun begin… its time to have a feast."

Boom!

The ground exploded as it jumped forward in attack, curling its fingers into a fist and aiming a heavy blow at me. I barely blinked before Hans Wagner moved, using his staff to slam into the ground and a shockwave of compressed wind burst out, sendiing the creature flying backward into the wall with a loud crash.

"Stay behind me, Levi!" Hans barked with a commanding yet steady voice.

He was in the late ages of his life and still able to move so fluidly, it was amazing to think about. But, right now… this 'thing', this Shadow creature is on a whole new level. I could barely make it out alive when the last shadow creature I fought layed out its Soul Manifestation, now I don't know if we could beat this thing that somehow possess congnitive intelligence.

"But, Chancellor…!" I tired to protest, as I gripped my blades tighter and poising myself ready for the next wave of attack.

"I said stay back! If you know anything about Soul Manifestation, you should be running by now… specially when its activated by that evil bastard!"

He was right, Soul Manifestation literally amplifies the users abilities to the absolute max and when its coming from a sentient being, it could mean serious consequences for the target— In this case we were the targets.

The creature rose slowly from the rubble, brushing dust from its chest. The grin it had on its face was still there and those red slit eyes burning like hot coal. "So the old man still has some bite left…"

Then, in a swift blur, both of them burst off the ground and exchanged a series of close ranged combat— with Hans Wagner using his Aeromancer abilities to weave and evade attack till he finds an opening to exploit and the Shadow creature bragging red hot rings of energy from punching the air in the chancellor's direction with reckless abandon.

The office was beyond recognisable and the walls couldn't contain what came next. One heartbeat later, they were inside- next the entire front wall blew apart in a thunderous blast of wind, sending the creature out of the building and into the compound area. The explosion threw me off my feet as shards of stone and glass flew past my face, chipping my skin in several places.

When I regained my balance, Wagner had joined the creature outside.

Through the torn opening in the wall, the two figures clashed in midair under the bright shine of the moonlight, streaks of energy and wind slicing through the courtyard and every impact felt like a mini earthquake.

"Ah! You've forced me to leave my soul territory… that very smart old man!"

The creature vanished— no, it moved faster than my eyes could follow and reappeared behind Hans Wagner with a spinning kick. Hans barely reacted in time, twisting midair as a barrier of pressurized air flared up around him. The kick still connected, the barrier cracked and Hans was sent flying backwards through the courtyard, crashing into the compounds fountain.

"Chancellor!!" I shouted.

Water burst into the sky upon his impact and it rained down like shattered shards of glass. But Hans didn't stay down, a second later he rose up, his robes drenched to a wrinkle plop.

His staff spun as the wind howled around him louder, then in a burst of speed, the old man was gone, dashing up into the sky and hovering the air like a god descending.

"Impressive," the creature said, still on the ground and looking up and hans wagner demonstrate his power.

Hans raised his cane and pointed it skyward and then the clouds closer to the top of the highest point of the building began to swirl violently, in a matter of seconds the air pressure plummeted and a tornado dropped from the moonlit heavens like divine plague, slamming into the creature. The wind was loud and violent, grinding the ground beneath into dust as hans guided it with just a single free hand with his staff hand tucked behind his back elegantly.

I could tell that the goat-beast was taken aback by Wagner technique, because when I caught a glimpse of the creature through the tornado haze, several parts of its shadowy body parts were forcefully blown off, causing its shadowy aura to fluctuate a bit.

But the goat-like creature only laughed inside the storm, even as it was chipping away on its physical integrity.

"All that won't work, unless you go for my core…" it said with heightened excitement written all over its grossest face as the part of its body that were affected by the attack were immediately restored to its former looking like nothing happened to it at all.

Bam!

It slammed its hoofed foot into the ground , plating its stance to prevent being blown away by Wagner's attack.

"Shadow Art…"

"Red Silver Chaotic Afterglow!"

It began punching through the spinning air, sending red rings of energy through it's arms and outwards, striking and dispersing the wind like shattering glass. In a blink of an eye, it burst from what remained of the tornado and rammed into Hans, its fist colliding very hard with pressurized air shield around him.

Boom!

The explosion threw both of them backwards, Hans hit the tower above his building hard, coughing blood and saliva. The creature landed gracefully and unharmed with an even disgustingly wider grin.
