Reborn As The Barbarian God

Chapter 58: Slave?

It was Brakthar, and he was running toward Galthor as if he had lost something, but his face was filled with excitement.

"Chief! Chief! Chief!"

Galthor slowed down and used his senses to scan the barbarian, but he wasn't hurt anywhere. He just appeared to be filled with excitement.

"Chief, you won't believe this!"

"Maybe when you tell us, I'll know what to believe."

Brakthar finally reached their side, and he grimaced when he heard Galthor say that. "Of course, of course!"

"Why are you in such a hurry, Brakthar? Did something happen to you? You finally saw someone that likes your ugly head?" one of the masters called from the side.

Brakthar grunted and scowled. "Chief, you remember that today is the market day on the Revolutionary base where merchants secretly come and trade? Days like today, we get the chance to see different goods, both unique and special!"

On a normal day, merchants usually come over to supply the local market, but on market day, they would specially come to sell things that are not usually seen in the Revolutionary base. It's always a day all the banners look forward to.

Even though the other banners have backers, their people still have the chance to buy different unique stuff. And the reason Brakthar did not go with them on the hunt that day was to go to the market and see if there was anything the barbarians might need.

"I know all of this. What happened?" Galthor asked curiously.

"Slaves! There are slaves being sold today!" Brakthar said with excitement.

Galthor twitched. As a former human who lived in the modern world, he wasn't all that comfortable with the idea of slavery. And as a barbarian who was supposed to be a slave, it was also a touchy subject.

"We don't need slaves, Brakthar. We're barbarians!" Karathra snapped.

Galthor nodded. What work would ever be difficult for barbarians to do themselves?

Brakthar scowled. "Listen, listen! This is not what I mean. There's something unique about this particular slave. According to the merchant, the slave is an enchanter!"

Everyone shifted with surprise. When the word enchanter came up, it brought to mind two things: relics and formation spells. Those who can make relics and set magical formations to perform different types of functions.

Although different gods might have their own ways, passed down to their worshippers, on how to set formations and make relics, the problem lies in the fact that they can only create relics and formations that lie in their god's domains.

A fire god can only create relics that relate to fire and formations of similar effects.

But enchanters are different. They are one of the few groups that can break into different types of domains, just like those with appraiser powers. In fact, their guilds and organizations are intertwined.

Technically, they should have been bullied by others because they have no central god they serve, just like the barbarians, but their powers are too important and special for them to be bullied.

That also lies the problem. They are so important that the fact that an enchanter is in a place like the Revolutionary base is not only laughable, it's dangerously suspicious as well.

Karathra folded her hands. "What would an enchanter be doing here? And a slave? That's impossible! Their organizations guard them zealously, and they'll go to war against anyone who hurts their members. Not to mention the fact that other powers would immediately side with them."

Ashclaw cleared his throat. "It's said that there are some groups that are natural friends of all gods. The enchanters are part of this group."

Brakthar grunted. "Because things shouldn't happen doesn't mean they do not! Look, do you really think every power out there wants those enchanters' organizations to know what type of enchantments and formations they have?

"They all have enchanters enslaved to work for them on the side! Because there's light, then it's certain there must be darkness. Although I'll also agree that one finding its way into the Revolutionary base is strange."

The barbarians stood silent as they turned to Galthor to make his decision. "The others have enchanters that must be working for them. Most of the monsters they kill are not sold here, and from their castles, you can see the formations they put up.

"We do not have one, and yet one appears around us? That's too convenient."

As much as Galthor was happy about the prospect of an enchanter, it seemed really suspicious to find one in the Revolutionary base. And if he had to guess, then they would be the ones to buy it.

'...so, the fact that the barbarians have a god has now begun to draw attention eh?.....'

"Do you mean it might be a spy?"

Galthor spread his hands. "That depends on the fact that we somehow manage to buy this slave. Spying on other races is difficult because of the differences unless they convert one of us, but right now, we're still too tightly bound for anyone to turn."

Brakthar's excitement dimmed immediately, but Galthor chuckled. "Of course, we'll still try our best to buy this slave! Even poison will fill the stomach and stop starving. What happens next still remains to be seen.

"Two truths can stand. We need an enchanter, and we won't miss this."

"Here are my orders. Karathra, you are to represent me with full authority in this matter and make sure to get me this enchanter slave. Make sure it's a real enchanter. Brakthar, use all of our resources if you have to, and throw some punches if it's needed."

Karathra bowed. "Of course, we'll do as you wish. But seriously, Chief, if it's a setup, do we really have to walk into it?"

"It's a trap if we don't know what we are walking into. It's another thing entirely if we do, and even with everything, it might not even be a trap, and we might not even be able to buy the slave."

Karathra and Brakthar bowed again. "As you wish, Chief. We'll do our best to get this slave for you!"
