Mecha Devourer System

Chapter 89: Cult Infiltration (III)

It was a simple room, with a desk and two seats, both opposite the desk.

As the two masked figures led Everlearn inside, they exited through one of the doors in the room.

With their departure, only a single figure remained seated at the desk opposite Everlearn.

His face was also obstructed by the mask, making his features quite hard to see, but if one thing was clear, it was that he was no Newcomer.

The Core in his chest was thrumming powerfully with energy.

His eyes faintly scanned the room, and he couldn't notice any camera at all.

If they were trying to keep things secret, they obviously wouldn't sabotage themselves by putting cameras on their own actions.

That was comforting for him.

"Have you been given the Pact?"

The masked figure asked, his voice seemingly robotic, showing signs of alteration.

Everlearn responded.

"I have, though..." he said, pausing.

"Though what!?" the figure asked.

"I have a question…"

He replied.

"You can no longer go back on your Pact, since you've already come here. So whatever your question is, keep that in mind," he said, then continued, "Now, what's your question?"

Everlearn leaned forward slightly and asked,

"That door behind you, on the left side, leads out of this place, doesn't it?"

"Yes, it does," He answered almost automatically, but then he paused,

VROOOOOOOOM!

The air flapped as the figure rose to his feet, but his eyes widened when he watched a palm slam forth toward his face.

He jerked his head to the side, dodging the attack with incredible reaction speed before he punched at Everlearn's face.

BAAAAAANG!

The heavy sound of collision rang out as Everlearn turned his body, his face out of the punch, and he turned, his elbow connecting with the side of the figure's head precisely on his ear.

When it struck him, he was lifted off his feet and sent crashing into the wall instantly.

The two doors on the side were quickly opened as two robed figures immediately stormed into the room.

But when they stepped in, all they saw was the exit door wide open and Victor slowly pushing himself up from the ground.

"What happened!?"

They asked as they helped him up the ground.

His mask had shattered, revealing a face marked by cruelty, a blade scar running down the right side.

His teeth gritted tightly, eyes flaring with destructive rays of purple light.

"He's an outsider!"

He forced out from the gaps of his teeth as the two others gasped in shock.

"How did he—?"

Victor walked towards his broken mask.

At the side of it, his finger tore out a tiny chip that he laid on his palm.

"I have the recordings and his face."

"Find him and kill him!"

___________

DIIIIIIIIIIING!

The chime of the elevator echoed out through the corridor, and out stepped Everlearn, who continued to his door.

Bringing out the green card, he slid it over the scanner and stepped in.

"Huuuuuuu…"

A breath of exhale left Everlearn's lips as he threw the card on his table and headed to the bedroom.

Looking at the time, it was 2:31.

'Class starts at 7:25. I can still get a quick nap at least,'

He mused to himself while lying on his bed, quickly setting the alarm before placing the device by his side.

His mind couldn't help but drift to the events.

It ought to have been a relaxed day, class early, and a ride with Rosa in the evening, yet it had ended quite hectic.

Thankfully, the door he went in really was the exit, and he got out with no problem.

He didn't know why Boss Ash would suddenly ask him such an impromptu request, but still, he was glad he was able to get the job done.

With that resolved, he descended into a silent sleep, and the night quietly passed.

___

When Everlearn woke up the next morning, he only did so because of the stinging rays of sunlight on his face.

'What the—?'

He mused as he looked outside, gazing at the bright golden sun.

"That's…"

He immediately picked up his device, and his eyes widened when he saw the alarm had already beeped thirty minutes ago!

The time right now was 7:35!

"Shit, I silenced the phone last night, and the alarm didn't ring."

He muttered, jumping off the bed and racing to get dressed for the day.

The next class they had was Technoget Class.

It focused on the latest gadgets, mostly offensive and defensive, used by Corers to combat the Nakros, discussing which were most effective and other related topics.

It made Everlearn raise an eyebrow, though, as he noticed many of the things the X Guard Academy taught leaned toward the Nakros in one way or another.

One may even call it the Nakros Extermination Academy.

But perhaps that was one of the reasons why X City had also never been invaded before.

Three hours passed, and the class was over, but another class began right after.

It was a weird class: History Class.

Nvidians weren't ones to care about the past.

Things were happening too fast right now to worry about what had already happened.

There was a class for it, though, and as expected, it told the story of how the first Corers had eliminated some prominent figures among the Nakros.

Again, it led back to the Nakros.

The classes for the day were normally one or two, but today, there were four.

When the last class ended and Everlearn stepped out with the others, it was already 8:24 PM.

His stomach grumbled hard, and he decided to branch to the cafeteria before going back to the dorm.

He wasn't the only one with that idea, judging by how crowded the cafeteria was even at night.

When Everlearn finished, he made his way back to the dorm, but halfway through, he noticed something that made his heart thump slightly.

He was being followed.
