Mecha Devourer System

Chapter 87: Cult Infiltration (I)

As Everlearn slowly lowered the phone and turned back, he flinched backward, noticing a face just behind him.

"Hey!" he exclaimed as a giggle followed.

It was Rosa, her pink eyes staring at him, and he had no idea when she'd snuck up on him like that.

"Your girlfriend calling for the night?" she teased as Everlearn scoffed with an eye roll.

"Girlfriend calling for...Yeah, right."

"What? You're no longer the weakest human in the school, therefore undeserving of love, are you?" she asked, hinting at his excuse from the last time.

"She's not my girlfriend, and she ain't calling for the night, whatever that's supposed to mean," he answered, but then he caught her staring at him, giving him a wink.

"Ewwww, pervert!"

He gave her that look that left Rosa in disbelief before she grinned.

An evil grin.

"What are you planning?"

"Nothing," she answered, though it was obviously a lie.

Still, Everlearn needed to be somewhere, and time was running out.

"Night's closing in. Can you give me a ride back to the dorm?"

VROOOOOOM!

The engine rumbled at that second as Rosa clicked on her phone, and the powerbike immediately drove itself, parking right before her.

She got on, wearing her helmet, and Everlearn did the same before sitting behind her.

"Hold tight… pervert!"

Rosa said as Everlearn's face within the helmet turned red.

"Hey, I'm not a—"

VROOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The tron powerbike burst forward with insane acceleration speed, and Everlearn was almost thrown off, only managing to remain seated due to his arm tightly wound around her waist.

"Awwwn."

The moan rang out within Everlearn's helmet, and his bone froze.

"What was that?" he couldn't help but ask, and the reply came softly.

"You're holding tight…" she said, causing Everlearn to release his grasp, but then,

VROOOOOOOOOM!

Another insane acceleration made him grip her waist tightly again.

"Awwwn, so tight."

She moaned once more, and Everlearn finally lost it, roaring out loud.

"Stop messing with me, ROSAAAAA!!!"

"Hehehe."

VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

_________

"I didn't think we would have so much fun as we did this evening, Everlearn," Rosa said as Everlearn handed back the helmet.

"Stop making it sound so weird, you pervert."

He cursed as Rosa giggled coyly.

"You're not innocent, I just know it."

"Still, thanks for the time, and see you in class tomorrow…" she said, swiping her green card on the scanner and disappearing into her dorm room.

After she went inside, Everlearn also brought out his green card and swiped it on the scanner.

It made a satisfying beep, the door opening, but he didn't enter.

Instead, he waited for the amount of time it would have taken him to do so, then shut it closed, remaining outside.

Eyes turned to the map on his device one more time, silently jumping onto the railings before soaring downward.

He landed crouched on the ground, becoming a shadow that quickly slipped out of the dorm building.

__________

The location of the area Boss Ash had sent him to was a dangerous place because it was just at the periphery of the second-year area.

In fact, one could almost say it was inside the second-year area, but Everlearn continued, merging with shadows to hide his tracks.

He descended atop one of the skyscrapers, and his gaze turned downward, where he found the place indicated on the map, and he had to say, it was quite a bizarre area.

It wasn't another building, but what seemed like a really wide corridor in between two buildings with a long width, drenched in darkness.

But within that darkness, Everlearn could almost hear the faint humming of energy, as if...

"An invisibility barrier?" he mused, confused.

He couldn't see anything, yet he could hear the humming with his incredibly sharp senses.

Whatever it was, there was definitely something down there.

He was hiding by the side of the skyscraper wall, high above, so he couldn't be seen.

Turning his device on, he put it to silent and observed quietly.

Soon enough, his thoughts were confirmed.

He noticed a second-year student walk into the dark alleyway after carefully looking both sides.

He paused silently in the alleyway for a while, and after doing a second check to make sure he wasn't being watched, he stretched out his hand.

A small button appeared, and he dropped it into the space.

The button ought to have fallen upon the green grass, but it didn't.

Instead, it disappeared into thin air, and then a ripple appeared in the shape of a door as the student stepped in.

'Just like I suspected,' Everlearn mused.

He watched the same thing happen again and again, and much to his shock, it wasn't only second-years.

Some newcomers also entered that place with their buttons.

FLICKER

A flicker from his pocket, and he took out his device, swiping the call button.

"Boss Ash."

"You there?"

The voice came from the other side.

"Yes. Something is going on. It's like a dark alleyway, and there's an invisibility barrier that the students access with a button."

"Second-years?" she asked.

"Not only them."

"I've counted a total of three second-years and seven first-year newcomers."

"Think you can get in?" she asked, as his spine froze.

"Get… get in?" he asked, just to be sure.

"Yes. I want you to tell me the states of things from inside there," she answered, and Everlearn's brow furrowed.

Get in?

First, he didn't have the button pass for entry.

Secondly, he had no idea what was happening beyond that invisible area.

Was it just a gathering, or actually a teleporter that took the students elsewhere?

If the group had planted so much secrecy in their activities, then it was obvious they wanted it hidden away from outsiders… like him.

"That's… that'll be quite difficult."

"Sounds like a yes. You've got three minutes, then." She answered.

"What the—! I said..."

The call was disconnected.

"Tch." Everlearn clicked his tongue as he looked forward.

Now he had to get in.

The first thing was getting the button that acted like a pass.

And after just thirty seconds, he soon noticed a student walking down the stairs and branching toward the hallway.

"Here's my chance."
