"Do points have anything to do with graduations? "Someone asked.
"How do we obtain them?" the girl who had been trying to act timid asked shyly.
As if she had been waiting for such questions, Professor Olivia grinned and replied, "if you do not maintain at least a thousand points on that point slip by the end of the year, you will be expelled from the special class."
"Although there is no direct correlation between points and graduation, more points mean more resources, which means higher chances of graduating."
Her words sent everyone into a thoughtful trance. She had pumped up the importance of the points.
Seeing them trying so hard to plan in their little heads, Professor Skinner rolled her eyes and continued, "as for how you can get those points,. There are many ways…"
She wrote a few words on the board while reading them out loud as she did.
"Academic achievement."
"Transactions between you and someone else with points."
"Third and the most important part. Missions."
Mission?
Jinn furrowed his brows. He had heard nothing about the mission from anyone.
But so were other things he did not know of.
Thinking of this, he eased up and continued to listen.
"You will be sent on the first weekend of every month. The mission you choose will be your choice, but the difficulty of the mission will determine how many points you will receive."
She went on to explain how missions were just them solving problems for the church.
And as Jinn had thought, for that they would be leaving the campus and entering the city.
So they were not completely cut off from the outside world.
Missions were divided into several grades.
Harmless Missions: ones that do not include any fighting. They were worth about 10 to 20 points. One can take several of these missions at a time.
Wilderness Mission: missions that required them to enter the forest and capture or kill beasts for their body parts. They were worth 50-100 points. Based on the materials and beasts they acquire.
Then came the final and deadliest missions.
The Demonic Missions.
Whenever Church was shorthanded and needed students to help them with the minimal tasks of exorcism, Eradicating demons and hunting someone, they would ask the academy for their help.
These missions were not only dangerous, but there was also a chance someone could lose their life.
But the church was responsible for the safety of the students.
Olivia explained that the task of the students will just be assisting from a distance, but even that could turn out to be troublesome and dangerous.
But the rewards of this mission were equally lucrative.
200-500 points per mission.
And they could earn extra points based on their contribution.
"Only second-year students are allowed to take these missions, but since you are a special class, you can take them."
Jinn could feel the confidence bubbling in the class. He could feel the desires to take such a dangerous task from almost everyone.
Only Evelyn seemed indifferent to taking such a mission and casually listened to the professor.
"But do keep in mind that you can only take three Demonic Missions in a year, and you have to take them in pairs. Which means sharing the points."
The enthusiasm dimmed down as soon as it came in, and everyone groaned under their breaths.
"There are many ways to earn the points. You don't have to risk your lives."
With a snort, Olivia cleaned the board.
"The Mission hall is on the west side of the academy. You can ask the receptionist about it. At the hall, they will tell you everything in detail."
"Take missions from there and get points once you are done. Money cannot be exchanged for points, but the opposite is possible."
'This is the main point, teacher. Why are you speaking like it does not mean anything?' The offhanded comment about the money made Jinn almost scream at her.
But since he could only take missions in the first week of the month, he might not want to exchange it for money.
'Which means I have to be frugal with two currencies.' Jinn had already spent half of his savings on suits, but that was an investment he needed.
Then he purchased the Easy Go Bag, which was also a responsible purchase.
In the end, Jinn made a vow to take his money more seriously.
But he did not know that every time he makes a vow like that, he ends up breaking it one way or another.
He might try to seem frugal, but Jinn was a compulsive buyer for things he came to like.
Fortunately, they were not useless things.
"Now let's focus on starting the class." With a clap, Olivia snapped everyone out of their dreams.
The clock had struck ten on time, and the class started.
She started by explaining the importance of Dragon energy and what it was.
She also gave everyone a small notebook, the size of their palm.
"This has everything you need to know about the energy and how you will be able to unlock the next chakra sphere."
Once more Jinn wanted to ask why she would casually toss the main information and go into detail on the useless things.
But professor Skinner did not have any intentions of explaining anything else.
"We will now continue to refine your control over dragon energy."
Seeing the bored look on many faces, she decided to throw oil on their dimming spirit.
"You might not know this, but some of you have already reached the tenth level on their first try, and that is the bare minimum level for you to even try and read what is in that book."
And would you look at that…
They were burning like wildfire.
"Before you reach this level, that book cannot be opened."
Jinn looked down at the book and then back at the professor. 'What am I supposed to do? '
"But we are not going to do the same old maze activity again. There are better ways to improve." Saying this, she waved her hand, and now every student had a canvas placed before them.
On the canvas, there was a colorless drawing.
"You will be using your dragon energy to paint this. The color will change on its own, and you just have to make sure the color does not go out of the line."
Soon the activity started with a simple coloring task.
Jinn hesitated seeing the drawing. 'Since I only have to color, it might not be that bad. So what if I cannot draw? coloring is easier than drawing.'
Giving himself some confidence, Jinn picked up the canvas and injected his energy into it.
