Lord Of Puppets

Chapter 37 – Learning how to craft.

<<I've….. Honestly… I was scared…. No… I'm still scared of her.>>

<<I've never seen her use all of her power… But I can tell that she is monster beyond monsters.>>

<<….>>

<<But even so… I don't want her to go.>>

<<Her knowledge… Her informations…. Her…. "EVERYTHING" she knew!>>

<<She was teaching me…. She was helping me learn about the world.>>

<<Family.>>

<<Kingdoms.>>

<<Trade.>>

<<She was apparently teaching me "common" knowledge, something not special in eyes of common beings…. But she said that I've would need it.>>

<<Not only that, but she was helping me in crafting.>>

<<Specifically my core.>>

"Ah…. So that is the problem…. I've was wondering why your golems sucked so much… The problem is that you lacked mana to train properly and experiment." – said Ariava.

"YES" – the puppet written down.

"Hm…. I think I can help you with that."

"?!"

"REALLY"

"Yeb. I can."

"I may not look like it, but I do know art of [Magic Forging] and stuff, so….. Wait a bloody second."

"Do you have the [Mana Blacksmithing] skill anyway?"

"?"

"…"

"NO"

"…"

"Ah…. Welp, that also explains something."

"I did saw you use mana crystals in their rough form as cores…. Yea, I honestly should had seen that coming ages ago…."

"…"

"Okay. So let me explain."

"Skills are something like manifestation of your own power and efforts."

"This is something you know, right?"

"You can acquire skill by practicing and developing yourself, causing the skill to be formed with your own efforts."

"From what I know and from what I can see right now, the golem crafting require skills called [Mana Blacksmithing]."

"This skill is related to [Blacksmithing]."

"Simple put, it helps you manipulating mana while forging."

"And this is something you would need for your golem crafting... Wait, what kind of skills you have anyway? Write them down."

"…"

"Sheesh… If I'm being honest this is quiet pathetic…. Like extremely."

"Honestly, with your talent I would expected you to…. Well, develop way too much, but I guess the lack of information and your body were holding you back big time…. Like too big."

"Still, you have [Blacksmithing]? So, you… Wait, how much do you know how to…. Well, craft?"

"…"

Puppet took out different tools and began showing the woman how it worked.

Breaking apart different blades.

Reassembling them.

Putting together pieces.

Creating weapons or parts.

"…"

(Wow…. This was… Extremely primitive….) – thought the woman.

(Still, I can't really say it's not bad… He knows how to put things together and how they… Huh. Actual this piece of trash is bit well made?) – thought Ariava as she inspected wooden club that had blade peace attached to it.

(I guess he may be inspected how joints and other stuff worked and tried to replicate it?)

"…"

(But again, this won't work…. Damn.)

"Okay…. I guess I will have you teach you some stuff regarding crafting, if we want you to learn how to improve your core."

<<And so, she started to teach me about blacksmithing…..>>

<<…>>

<<I've got to say…. I wasn't… Expecting it to be…. SO, CURIOS?!>>

<<She thought me basics, about how to properly make some basic weapons and stuff…. She also had shown me how to properly use some tools AND she also showed me how to set up something called "WORKSHOP".>>

<<She said that people such as blacksmiths and alchemist have an special space, an building or a room where they work.>>

<<Each of those workshops specializes in different kind of work.>>

<<For now I've set up something called "blacksmith workshop" …. But the whole set up did ended up eating a lot of DP points.>>

<<However, she said I desperately needed it or there would be no future for me.>>

<<She also said that if I wish to develop further in the future, I would also need to learn something called "Alchemy" and also set up a second workshop dedicated to it…. Honestly, I still don't get it…. But from what she had shown me so far from her own "simple" crafting…. I understood that everything she was saying was true.>>

<<And so I've decided to just fallow her instruction.>>

<<Days went by and she taught me bit by bit about crafting…. About all the stuff I didn't knew or was doing wrong.>>

"…"

"CAN I USE THIS TO CREATE A BODY FROM THIS"

"Hm?"

"Oh, you mean like use the metal?"

"Well, sure. It is possible."

"Metal is way tougher than wood or dirt… But is way heavier and complicated."

"There are golems out there that are made out of metal… But for now, you should forget it."

"The biggest problem right now is your core."

"If we don't make an proper one, you will be stuck, not being able to grow properly."

"You are special."

"Unlike humans, you can replace your body parts for the stronger ones and everything… But right now? Your body is straight up trash."

"I know you tried to make it "useful" and "deadly", but in reality its beyond pathetic."

"The blades here on your body? They are just rough ripped apart blades. They suck."

"They can cut, but if you crafted proper blades then it could have been way better."

"You need to learn how to craft a proper body."

"Dungeon can evolve and develop monsters, but in rough way…. Like evolving or mutating, but for you…. Sorry mate, but based on what you had told me, you are in shitty situations."

"Golems don't have ability to evolve."

"The wooden mannequin and human mannequin that was an developed version from it isn't really… Well, its body is not good."

"I think the dungeon tried to initiate a living beings in nonliving way. Trying to make an object that tried to look "alive" … But I doubt it could make something properly, maybe some of its developed monsters could end up being complete trash as well."

"The way dungeon doing things with your golems are primitive."

"Normally this primitive level works with other dungeons, if anything it work excellently since not only it could possibly allow the dungeon create stronger and different monsters… But for you?"

"The way the dungeon research works is pretty much useless and the human mannequin you had obtained was…. Well, it was pure luck if I'm being honest."

"If you want dungeon to create new monsters, you need to develop them yourself from the scratch."

"There is no other way."

"However, enough about bodies, since right now we need to focus on something important."

"Core."

"You already know it, but you and your golems need it to operate."

"Without proper one, you won't do anything… Or you may just shut down."

"Mana is source of power, but for you it is also source of life."

"…"

"Wait…. One of your skills is [Mana], right? How did obtained it?"

"CLASS CHANGE"

"I see… So, you have obtained this skill automatically after the class change…. Then how about your mana? Did you felt like you had bit more after you obtained the Golem Maker?"

"YES"

"…"

(Then is possible for this guy to develop his mana vessel?) – thought the demon woman.

(Normally it should not possible, since golems don't have a ability to grow their own mana vessel… But he had obtained [Mana] skill, which proves he can be affected…. This is worth experimenting on!)

(If this really works then the potential that this thing has would drastically increase!)

(But for now we should focus on the core.)

<<If I'm being honest…. I…. I don't really know how to feel…. Honestly, I've felt nice when I was crafting… Even when I failed or when I've trained…. I've told it to Ariava and she told me those were the emotions.>>

<<She said I was enjoy myself... Huh….. It does feels nice.>>

<<But it wasn't easy… The start…. Well, it was easy, but afterwords stuff started being harder and harder.>>

<<I've also had an accident when I've set myself on fire.>>

<<This kind of caused Ariava to panic a bit, before then telling me to stick to practicing the basics before then she just flew out of the dungeon.>>

<<After she returned, she brought in some "clothes" and apparently the ones that she had brough to were something used by blacksmith to keep themselves safe… But they really didn't fit my size.>>

<<She said that I should make myself a new body, an one that is not about combat but instead about learning and crafting…. Honestly…. I really didn't wanted to do it…. But then again, she is more than powerful enough to take down anything I've had seen or faced before.>>

<<So, I've had made a brand new body, a one that looks similar to the human mannequin. She said it was the best choice.>>

<<After that, I've started practicing some form of crafting that involves heating up metal and striking it with hammer.>>

<<Hitting with hammer.>>

<<Carving.>>

<<Sharpening.>>

<<I guess I really was not doing anything when it came down to … Well, to anything?>>

<<She have also told that [Mana Blacksmithing] that I need for my golem crafting is an branched out extended skill that is related to [Blacksmithing] and she also told me that the skills are not almighty.>>

<<She said if the [Blacksmiths] with level 1 skill who is an talented blacksmith would face off against an blacksmith who knew nothing about blacksmithing but had level 10 [Blacksmithing] would result in the obvious outcome with the talented blacksmith winning.>>

<<She said that [Blacksmithing] will only help me in blacksmithing and that is it.>>

<<True… I've could tell somewhat that I've had only bit easier time when it came down to crafting.>>

<<Anyway, days went by and my crafting got much better.>>

<<The results….. Well, the simple dagger that I've had made wasn't as good as the dagger that I've had looted from the adventures, but Ariava said that is way better start that she could had imagined…. I don't get it…. This dagger was "trash" really….>>

<<She said that there is no such thing as genius that is best at everything from get go and everybody needs to fail over and over before they can finally reach their goal…. She isn't wrong. It did took me a lot of attempts to make different kind of limbs and coding.>>

<<Afterworlds, I don't know much time had passed.>>

<<Pretty much each day she helped out when it came down to crafting, while sometimes taking breaks and doing something different like…. "trying to find something interesting"?>>

<<She tried teaching me about games, novels or some other "hobbies", saying that she wanted me and herself to enjoy.>>

<<She even as far as to set up an room for herself in the dungeon where she can sleep and stuff.>>

<<Besides spending time together with me, she would sometimes leave the dungeon.>>

<<Sometimes for moment, sometimes for much longer.>>

<<I've asked her what she was doing.>>

<<She said that she was going sometimes fetch some food for herself while also checking things out.>>

<<Apparently the two kingdoms that she told me about before have started their war just as she predicted.>>

<<According to her, the area where the town once was has been designed as dangerous zone by both sides, thinking that there maybe an ambush or some trap.>>

<<But she said that she just made them paranoid or something like that… I think maybe she used that ability of hers to control other beings to do something?>>

<<However, beside the war breaking out…. She kind off… Talked about something I wasn't expecting.>>

"Huh….. You know, when I look around, I can tell that your dungeon has changed a lot." – said Ariava.

"The path is not only much wider, but I've also saw some glow stones along the way….. I guess you couldn't properly deal yet with night vision problem, yea?"

"YES" – replied Thauma.

"GOLEMS BASIC VISION ISN'T GOOD, BUT I WAS ABLE TO SOMEWHAT IMPROVE IT. BUT DARKNESS ISN'T GOOD YET. WILL TAKE TO DEAL WITH DARKNES."

"Hm….. Well, it will allow your golems to fight more properly, but at the same time it will also end up causing you problems." – said Ariava.

"Since the invaders will also have bit of vision out there….. But overall, it maybe a worth investment, since you can make a bit cheaper golems that doesn't have….. How expensive would be golems with night vision?"

"Meh. Once you get there, you will tell me."

"But anyway, I have some nice news for you."

"You are going to the war."

"…"

"WHAT" – the puppet replied.

"Welp, I'm not talking about joining war between the two kingdoms… But instead a war among the dungeons."

"I don't think I've told you, but you are not the only dungeon here in the area."

"There is a second dungeon in this forest."

"The beast type dungeon."

"And right now, this dungeon is also growing and expanding."

"I've hindered that dungeon growth for some time, but it and you will have to face off eventually."

"If you and that dungeon wishes to expand, then obviously enough one would need to be destroyed."

"And that will be your war."

"And before you even ask, no. I won't help you out in that war. You will have to defeat that dungeon on your own."

"The reason why I'm telling you that is simple."

"You."

"This dungeon."

"And all monsters in this dungeon."

"They are useless."

"They can be categorized as F rank monsters, and not even high in the rank either."

"The only real dangerous thing is the dirt golem with its rough power, but its defense is beyond pathetic as it easily crumbles apart."

"I've get what you mean about growing stronger and with the dungeon not changing at all, but this is truth."

"If I'm being even more honest, the town did not needed reinforcements at all, they panicked and lacked informations."

"The only reason why they saw you as high level threat was simple."

"You caught them off guard."

"But that is it."

"If they calmed down and assess the situation more thoroughly, then they could had hunted down your golems without taking any real loses."

"But apparently they wanted to minimizes the loses….. And it was also winter time so it was somewhat understandable."

"It may had taken them a lot of time, maybe even weeks, but they should had been able to somewhat deal with random golems until the reinforcements arrives to deal with the rest of the golems alongside the dungeon."

"And I'm going to be bluntly here."

"If you didn't caught them off guard, the results would be much more worse for you."

"You need rough power."

"Tricks alone won't do."

"And to see if you are "Strong" enough, you will face off against the beast dungeon and try and destroy it."

"And here is my opinion right now."

"You will lose."

"…"

"IF YOU KNOW I WILL LOSE THEN WHY FIGHT" – asked puppet.

"Now, now. Calm down and listen."

"You and this dungeon possess…. "Special potential". An potential that could be something really something interesting in the future."

"But that said potential is also hindering not only yours but also the dungeon growth by a lot."

"Simple put, you have extremely slow start and you are still nowhere near the real starting line."

"But once you reach the starting line, we would need to see how good you truly are."

"We will need to start you would look like after we do something after the slow start of yours and this would be also a best experiment."

"And this is something you desperately need."

"If you want to survive now and in the future, you need to show me what you got."

"And by the way."

"If you want to complain or something, deal with it."

"I've already made decision for you."
