"You've all seen crazier things happen within the last few days. So can you say with a hundred percent certainty that it's impossible?" Alrik asked as he stroked Eliza's hair.
Her sobs were dying down, though she was still shaking in his arms.
Gaya sighed. "You're right. It's not impossible. But you need to explain, so the rest of us can understand. We thought you were dead. You weren't breathing, your pulse was gone, and your body was cold."
These words made Eliza squeeze him tighter, as if she could hold him here and make sure nothing would ever take him.
"I will explain, but first, we need to leave the bathroom. It's getting cramped in here."
"Oh please. Every bathroom in this house is the size of some people's houses. But you're right. Discussing this here is inappropriate. We'll give you two a moment together, and wait for you downstairs. Don't take too long though. We'll all need to prepare for work soon."
After saying that, they all left. For several seconds, neither he nor Eliza spoke a word to each other. She just held him close, and he knew she needed the contact to forget the feeling of waking up beside a dead version of him.
"I was so scared." She finally spoke to him, and he kissed her forehead.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I was also caught off guard, and I would have returned to my body sooner, but I was doing something important."
"Will this happen every time you fall asleep? I need to know so I'll be prepared. I don't think my heart can take seeing you in that state again." She said and he sighed.
"It's not an ability caused by sleeping. I just didn't know how to control it at that point."
'Well, can you control it now?"
"Not really. But I know the best way to get help. I need to find something. I'll explain it when we meet the others so you can all hear it together. Let's go join them. They must be getting anxious by now." He said and she nodded.
They joined the others, but Eliza still refused to leave his side. He sat on a sofa, and she sat on his legs with her arms around his neck. He didn't mind holding his wife close.
"We're all here now, so tell us what happened."
"Like I said, it's a new ability. It's called soul walking. I basically detached from my body, and though I could see and hear everything, my voice doesn't project the same way, else Eliza would have heard me calling for her."
"You called my name?" She asked and he nodded.
"Screamed it actually. I also thought I was dead at first, till I got an explanation. We need to find the Zerdon sword, and we need to find it fast. I know the team we put on it is trying their best, and have managed to narrow down a general area they suspect the sword is being held. I can help them narrow that down further, because I have seen where the sword is. Zee is the key to everything, and the reason why I started developing these abilities in the first place."
"Zee?' Bruno asked with a frown.
"Apparently, Zerdon is the sword's name, and it only became my family name because of the bond Zee had with my ancestor. The first of the Zerdon bloodline to wield it. So I decided calling it Zee would avoid confusion. I was chosen, first for my bloodline. The rest would be better explained when I get the sword back. The visions were also sent to me by Zee. The sword has been trying to communicate with me, but couldn't because of the great distance between us. Communicating is stronger in the soul plane, which is why Zee was able to connect to me. I know it sounds crazy…"
"Yeah, it does sound crazy." Kellan interrupted. "But I literally just saw you come back from the dead…"
"I wasn't dead."
"I know, but it was still freaky. Don't scare us like that, boss man. Anyway, like I was saying, it might sound crazy, but I'm sure we all believe you. You're not the type to make up lies, or try to deceive us with such a tale. Plus, we literally saw you move like the flash yesterday."
"He's right. We believe you. So what do we do now? How do we find the sword?" Mira spoke up.
"I'll have to speak with the team we tasked with searching for it. I don't have an exact address of the location, but I can work together with them to search for familiar sights that will lead us to the address. Then we make an infiltration plan." Alrik responded.
"If we're not careful with this, and we're caught on Valderran soil, you know the consequences." Gaya said to him and he sighed.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there. The sword doesn't belong there anyway, even if it was sold off by that dumbass I call a cousin."
Alrik didn't tell them the part about Zerdon coming from another realm. All of this was already shocking enough. Better to wait till he had more information, before confusing everyone more with the news of the existence of foreign worlds. The portal beasts weren't of this world, definitely. But that was easier for human minds to comprehend, because people were more focused on fighting off the beasts.
Eliza and Alrik returned to their room to get dressed for the day.
"I won't be able to come to work with you today."
"I know. You need to meet with the sword finding team. I understand. And it's ironic that I wish you could come with me today, because yesterday, I was the one trying to persuade you to stay home." She sighed.
"Don't look so sad. I know why you want me close. I'm sorry for traumatising you so badly this morning."
"Don;t apologise. It's not your fault. You're a great man, Alrik. It's not hard to see why you would be chosen by the Zerdon sword, of all the people with your family's blood." She said with a small smile, and kissed his throat.
"Speaking of family…"
"Don't worry. I woke up to see the love of my life, cold and dead beside me, and I'm still standing. My family is the least of my problems. I can handle them. I'm expecting an email from your investigative team soon. They'll send me evidence, I'm sure of it. The one thing I can count on is how sloppy my family is. This grand plan of theirs to bring us down definitely has holes and inconsistencies in it considering how fast it was all put together. Your team will find them, and I will use that to nail them."
He chuckled at the fierce expression on her face, glad to see the sadness away even if for just a few minutes. "That's my girl."
"I'll come see you as soon as I can." He said and it was her turn to laugh.
"Or maybe you should go to your own office after that. You haven't been there to work since you revealed your identity as the CEO. I'm sure your employees are wondering where their new boss has been."
"I have been with my wife. Exactly where I should be. Where I always want to be." He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer.
"Your lips are filled with such sweet words."
He leaned in close to whisper in her ears. "Your lips are also sweet, but not the lips you speak with. In fact, I'm dying for a taste of that sweetness. I missed my breakfast this morning because of all that drama of me being dead. I can sneak in a taste before we both have to leave."
She grabbed his shoulder as he began to lower himself to his knees. "Wait, Alrik. I'm going to be late. There's no time for…"
He removed her hand from his shoulder, and put it on top of his head as he got on his knees and pulled her closer. "You better hold on tight."
She yelped as he threw her left leg over his shoulder and pulled her skirt higher. She fisted his hair, and he groaned as he leaned in closer. "You're already dripping for me, my sweet, sweet wife."
She moaned as he pulled her lace panties aside, and licked her from slit to clit. He sucked on her lips, and then dipped a finger inside her.
"A..alrik."
"I love it when you say my name like that, darling."
She whimpered as he added another finger, and curled them both inside her. Her legs began to shake as he sucked on her clit, and her grip on his hair tightened.
"More, please."
He chuckled. "I thought you didn't want to be late?"
"I'm the boss. I can go whenever I want. Right now, I want my husband to fuck me till I forget my name."
