"Eh? She's not dead?"
Although it was very faint and weak, Sylvia's chest still rose and fell. The crow landed on his shoulder with a low rumble in its throat, then took a sneaky bite from Hurata's body.
Leon's brows twitched, but he didn't chase the bird away since it was the one that led him here.
He dropped Hurata's corpse at the door, then walked towards the girl. He snapped the rope suspending her, and let her body fall to the ground.
Crouching beside her, he frowned a bit.
"She's beyond normal saving. Even a health potion would not work."
It was purely a miracle that she was still alive.
'What if I turn her?'
He suddenly thought, feeling curious. He'd read about vampires and werewolves turning humans into their kind. Even a zombie bite could turn someone into a zombie.
'So, do I bite her, or do I give her my blood?'
He pouted, confused. He wasn't a vampire, nor was he a werewolf. He didn't know what method to choose.
"Oh, well…"
He shrugged, deciding on what to do. He bit his lower lip, hard enough to draw blood. Then, raising the girl slightly while holding her neck, he kissed her.
It was raw and unromantic, like the cutting of one's hair. Yet, the scene looked highly erotic.
Ignoring that, Leon lightly pressed her throat, forcing it to open and accept his blood into her system. Before disengaging, he also bit her lips, letting his fangs dig in slightly.
'A combination of the two—marvelous. I'm simply brilliant.'
He entertained such narcissistic thoughts proudly.
Cradling her head in his hands, he patiently waited for results. Soon, his eyes caught immediate changes. First, her heart stopped beating. Then, her wounds began to heal, while her skin turned slightly pale.
'Hm? Interesting…'
The healing was quite fast, closing all the wounds in under a minute. Unlike the rags her clothes had turned to, her skin had become pale and pristine.
Soon, her eyes snapped open. They had turned dark purple, contrasting her silver hair. Leon watched with a curious gaze as her eyes snapped to his face, recognition slowly dawning in them.
"B-boss…?"
She sounded hoarse and weak. Then, her expression contorted.
"I'm… hungry. So… hungry."
Her voice had changed; the last word sounding like a growl. Leon's brows rose in surprise.
Then, she lunged at him, tackling him to the ground. Holding his collar tightly, she straddled him, then let her lips crash into his.
Unfortunately, it wasn't a steamy kiss that one would expect.
Instead, she bit into his lips and hungrily sucked his blood. Her eyelids fluttered softly, savoring the body fluid gently.
'Has she become a vampire?'
Leon quietly wondered. He only lay on the ground and allowed her to do as she pleased. It wasn't like he really cared. Of course if it was a guy who did that, he'd have lost his head. Even indifference had its limits.
Finally, after about two minutes, she stopped drinking his blood and threw her head back.
Howl!
The sound was piercing and a bit pleasant—at least to Leon. Still holding his collar, she lowered her head and looked at him. Her mouth was slightly open, showing her fangs that were dripping with his red blood.
"Satisfied?" He asked softly.
The girl nodded, remaining silent. The two continued to gaze at each other until the crow cawed.
It seemed to be getting impatient with their prolonged stare. Sylvia's gaze darted towards the bird, her expression curious as if wondering how the bird would taste like.
The crow's feathers bristled as it hopped back cautiously. Even though it was stronger than her, something in her gaze made it wary.
"Get up."
Leon finally spoke, lightly pushing her off him. He stood up and dragged Hurata's body into the room. Then, he tore a hand from the body, and threw it to Sylvia. The girl eagerly accepted it and began eating.
As for the crow, Leon gave it the man's head and genitals. The rest belonged to the killer himself. And just like that, dinner was served.
.....
The next morning, Leon woke up and stretched. He felt renewed and invigorated. Looking to the side, Sylvia was curled up on the ground like a stray dog, making him question her mental state. Although it seemed like she was fine, it was obvious that her mind had been messed up.
He ignored her and stepped into the bathroom. Removing his clothes, he turned on the tap and let cool water flow down his body. All his injuries had healed, leaving his body pristine without scars.
He looked into the mirror, then brushed aside his bangs. The color of his crystal reflected back to him—blue.
'Third Level…'
He mused, feeling a bit empty. This rate of evolution was fast. In his past life, he had only reached the Third Level after almost two years.
Yet, here he was, already one after a few months.
It was strange. Perhaps it was because he wasn't human, he wasn't sure. However, he gladly welcomed such developments. As long as he could be strong enough, he'd do almost anything.
Creak…
His thoughts were interrupted when the bathroom door opened and Sylvia stepped inside, still in rags. Leon deadpanned.
"What?"
He asked, a little speechless. He was starting to doubt that she had any common sense left.
"Bath?"
She answered with a question, looking doubtful. It seemed she wasn't so sure about what she needed. Leon rolled his eyes, then dragged her in.
Since she didn't even know what to do, he decided to lend a helping hand. He couldn't have a dirty lady following him around, right? Right?
He took off the rags on her and helped her get into the bathtub. He brushed aside her fringes and saw the yellow crystal on her head.
'So she's really just like me.'
Holding the sponge in his hand, he washed the grime off her body with practiced ease. This wasn't the first time he was bathing a woman. He had done so for Cassie when they were younger.
And although this act made his body hot, it didn't influence his thoughts as he dutifully completed the task.
He rinsed her, then helped her change into simple clothes. He also changed into a different set of clothes, picking them from a wardrobe in the room.
Caw! Caw!
"You still haven't left?"
Leon turned towards the bird which was perched on the door. His brows furrowed slightly, but he decided to accept its company.
Caw! Caw!
It cawed again, then flew out of the room as if saying 'follow me'. Leon tilted his head, then shrugged. Signaling to Sylvia, he said coolly.
"Let's go."
He wanted to know what other discovery the crow had made.
