Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 60: Low profile

"So… I heard you killed someone from Weavetech?" The Grand Regent said, grabbing a towel to clean his hands.

Aside from the Void Coffin, this was one of the reasons Mr. White brought Enzo here today. Moving to another continent wouldn't completely solve the problem Enzo was in.

He needed someone that could truly protect him from retaliation to take action.

"Yes, Grand Regent," Enzo responded with a nod.

Kegan deserved everything that came to him, in truth. If he was given the chance, he could kill him once again.

"Good, those fuckers get on my nerves," the Grand Regent responded with a gleeful affirmation.

Weavetech was a typical bully-type power. For years, they ruled over humanity with an iron fist. In fact, when the stronger existences left the planet, they opted to stay just so they could keep messing with the weak.

It was annoying.

Of course, people hated them.

But hating the strong was as useless as kicking rocks. There was no real point to it aside from just that.

"Let me see your hand." The Grand Regent approached Enzo and grabbed his timestamp arm, inspecting it.

The time was moving at a rapid pace, around 2x its normal speed.

"Heh, you killed an important person, huh?" The Grand Regent smiled bitterly.

This was worse than he thought; typically, there would just be a tracker, then for people of substance, a speed of 1.2x would be noticed.

But 2x was a bit much—it was probably a legacy talent.

"Don't worry, I'll fix you right up." The Regent gave Enzo a thumbs-up, then grabbed his arm with both hands, covering his wrist entirely.

All of a sudden, an inky liquid substance started to leak from his pores and onto Enzo's arm. It was slimy and hot, but in around 30 seconds, it was done.

"The time curse has been nullified and so has the long-distance detection. As long as your body is in a 200km radius from me, they won't be able to track you," the Grand Regent explained what he had just done.

Unless the task force saw Enzo face-to-face, that tracker would not work as long as the Grand Regent was in the area.

This was a good concealment ability.

"Thank you, lordship." Enzo bowed intensely; a feeling of gratitude overcame him. He would pay him back in the near future if he could.

"It's not a big deal. I do it for everyone who's in your predicament. It's just my way of sending a big fuck you to those time vampires." The Grand Regent waved his hand casually.

"Plus, you're part of our special grade program now. What kind of Regent would I be if I let those bastards at Weavetech track you here?" The Regent added, pointing out that Enzo had indeed passed his registration.

"The institute calendar officially starts in a week. You should probably get some rest—especially you, Whitey. Capturing that old witch must have been hectic."

Minutes later, they emerged from the old man's office and headed downstairs.

"There are still some formalities you need to pass through, like getting your measurements taken and the specifics of your training program. It's best you do all that today…" Mr. White said to Enzo as they reached the lobby once again.

This time, it was much more packed with people than before. Apparently, they had come early.

"I'll head out for a few hours… I'll be back in the evening to take you home. Till then, make some friends, kid." Patting Enzo on the shoulder, Mr. White made his way out of the lobby and into the snow outside.

"Sigh…" Enzo slowly sighed, panning his head to the group of people behind him.

Friends…

In hindsight, he hadn't made a single friend all his life. Aside from Nibbleskin and Victoria, he couldn't point at one person whom he viewed favorably and who wasn't family.

Walking casually, he moved through the various lines and went toward the area reserved for those who had passed, attempting to find a seat.

Just as he was about to pass by the demarcation, however, a hand pushed forward at his chest, stopping him in his tracks.

"This section is for those who passed the screening test. You can't sneak in here, loser. Go back," an obnoxious voice resounded, pushing back against Enzo with a look of disdain on his face.

Enzo's clothing was shabby, to say the least, for someone who was here to register for the prestigious Dual Moon Institute. Clearly, he was just some countryside folk who thought they were special because of a pipe dream sold to them in their backwater towns.

The fact that the institute even accepted them was one thing, but he wouldn't sit here and watch one behave brazenly.

"I'm supposed to be in there," Enzo shook his head and explained.

This person wasn't there initially when he passed, so it made sense that he was confused. Pushing was out of reason, but Enzo could look past it.

"You're supposed to be here? Right, and I'm supposed to be an exalted weaver. Get in line, you fucktard!!" Mocking Enzo, the young man pointed to the back of the line, not giving his explanation a listening ear.

"You're a joker," Enzo sneered. Clearly, this person was a troublemaker.

"What did you just call me?!! Do you have a death wish?" He grabbed Enzo's collar and dragged him forward; the difference in height quickly became apparent as he towered over him.

"Sigh." Toward the leftmost part of the section, the young man with red hair stood up helplessly, seeing what was happening in front. This kid seemed to be a bad luck magnet.

Calmly looking forward, he walked down to the entrance and raised his hand to grab the shoulder of the young man blocking the entrance. He had to settle this matter before it got out of hand…

However, before his hand could clasp down, he struck thin air, and the next second, a boom erupted below him.

"Huh?"

He was taken aback as his eyes panned down to the floor, where a figure was pressing down the young man with a coiled dagger to his neck.

"Hm?" Noticing someone staring at him, Enzo looked up and raised his eyebrow at Zeke.

'Did he just try to save me?'

Enzo was taken aback by Zeke's action. All his life, he hadn't known a whole lot of people willing to go the extra mile to help him out.

It really confused him to see it happen right now.
