Where is God pointing?

chapter 2 - Awakening

“I’m back.” Qiansha tossed the firewood onto the ground, only to find the house in complete disarray, even his schoolbag lying on the floor. “Mom?” Qiansha gripped his spear tightly, carefully stepping inside. The warning he had heard earlier echoed in his ears:“This place is dangerous…”Thinking it might be a monster invasion, Qiansha dashed straight into his room. “What are you doing?” Qiansha lowered his spear, speaking to his mother, who was rummaging through a pile of odds and ends. She said, “The gods’ collectors came to collect taxes just now. I’m searching for anything valuable we can sell. By the way, did you gather the firewood I asked for?” “I left it at the door. Go cook, I’ll search instead.” As Qiansha passed by her toward the heap, he suddenly turned back, launching a burst of wind element against the woman’s back. “You…” The woman climbed back up, cursing angrily. “Where are you hiding her?” Qiansha seized another spear and thrust at her. The woman threw off her garments, her body transforming into a monster the size of an ordinary human. She dodged the strike with a sidestep and slashed with her claw. Qiansha swung the spear shaft hard, smashing the monster into the wall. It roared:“I’ll make sure you and that woman die the same way!”“You bastard!” Power exploded from Qiansha’s body, shocking the creature. Before it could react, Qiansha slammed a palm into it, grabbed its throat with the other hand, and gathered wind element.“Die! Just die!”He hurled the creature outside, where it crashed heavily onto the ground. “You… that divine power within you… you’re no mortal!” the monster gasped in awe. “I am mortal, but you’re beneath even that.” Qiansha rushed forward, kicked its head, and stomped down hard, snapping its neck.“Get out of my house!”He seized the corpse and hurled it out the window. The broken home fell into silence. The boy had no family left. His father, once a god, had fallen in love with a slave. During the war of the # Nоvеlight # gods, his father was killed, leaving behind only his lover and child. That night, Qiansha endured the cold in solitude. It was the first night without his mother’s warmth. “The Divine District has expelled some monsters into the Mortal District. All mortals, please evacuate to shelters…” Boom! A stone crashed down from above, smashing the loudspeaker. “Damn it… why are they only telling us now?” Qiansha muttered as people around him wept and cursed, furious that the broadcast came two days too late. “Qiansha?” He turned to see Xiantian approaching. “You okay? How’s your family?” Xiantian asked cautiously. “No good. I have no home anymore.” Qiansha’s face darkened. Picking up a basket, he said, “Come on. Let’s go get the gods’ leftovers.” “I came to tell you… the Divine District didn’t have any leftovers this month. They fed all their scraps to animals…” Xiantian’s basket fell to the ground along with his tears.“What?”Qiansha was stunned. He flung his basket far away, shattering it, then hurried to gather the pieces to reweave it. “We won’t survive this month unless we hunt,” Xiantian said. “It’s useless. You think the monsters will let us eat their leavings?” Qiansha slung several spears over his back. “What are you doing?” “Where did you say the Human Destiny Rebellion Army was?” Qiansha asked, eyes blazing with determination. “When I was a kid, my mother told me this: the gods will only ever treat humans like livestock. Because they are strong and we are weak. They don’t see our strength, so they’ve ruled for so long.” The two walked together beneath heavy rain, straw hats shielding their faces.“If we don’t resist, this life will continue. We’ll be wiped out eventually. Better to fight for time.”Xiantian adjusted his hat. “I don’t know exactly where they are… but even if they’re gods, they must learn to acknowledge humanity.” Suddenly, a bolt of lightning tore across the sky. The two looked up and were stunned. Through the mountain mist, a colossal figure loomed, taller than several peaks. “Beast… why would such a monster descend here?” Qiansha muttered. Xiantian shook his head, signaling to hurry on. In the distance, lightning and fire erupted—powerful mortals were already clashing to claim the beast. “Let’s stay the night in this village.” Qiansha turned to ask, “You think they’ll take us in?” “Not sure. But if we can grow stronger, they’ll want us.” Xiantian pulled out a crimson crystal. “I dug this from a monster’s heart. A swordsman gave it to me—it boosts strength.” “I’ve got one too. Killed one yesterday.” Qiansha revealed an orange crystal. “I heard if you hold it and gather elemental power, you can absorb it,” Xiantian said. A water sphere enveloped the crystal in his hand, which then dissolved into him. “Let me try…” Qiansha focused his wind element. The weather around them shifted abruptly, the weathervane spinning toward him as countless threads of wind converged into his palm. The orange crystal cracked apart. “This…” Xiantian stared in shock at the immense energy forming in Qiansha’s hand. A golden gleam flashed in Qiansha’s eyes before he released it, the elemental winds dispersing. Sword-bearers passing by paused, astonished. “Let’s go.” Qiansha motioned for Xiantian, who hurried after him. “What now?” “Buy weapons. Prepare for the fight ahead!” In a dark alley, a man watched them head toward the market. “Boss, did you see it? The energy in that kid’s hand.” “I sensed it. Though he’s mortal, within him flows power equal to that of the gods. We cannot underestimate him.” From the shadows, a swordsman with a straw hat and beast-skin cloak stepped forward, following behind the two boys.
