["Aliouche's clear, he shoots! He scores. Monaco are ahead here at Stade Louis. And you can hear the thunderous roars of the home fans as the ball rolls into the back of the net. They've searched for the lead quite a few times, coming close in several occasions already in this opening twenty minutes, and now finally they have got it courtesy of Maghnes Aliouche. Goal. Monaco take the lead and surely now, it's game on"]

Tyler pumped his fists as soon as the ball went into the back of the net. He would've done a more extensive celebration but he felt a pair of arms wrap around him a few moments later.

"Goalllll!" Jasmine screeched excitedly. She left Tyler alone after a couple of seconds, then she turned to where Aliouche was celebrating and started pumping her fists as well.

A few seconds later, the players were walking back to their position so that the match would be restarted while Jasmine had taken her seat.

The next few minutes of the match was basically a tug of war between the two teams for control of the match. Auxerre tried to grab it by the scruff of the neck to try and find an equalizer while Monaco proved why they were currently fighting for european spots, showing that they were no pushover either. The two goalkeepers got a little bit busy, as they made one or two saves here and there to keep their respective teams inside the game.

Eventually, the first half started drawing to a close and the two teams started to play a bit relaxed, the shots that were flying everywhere became minimal and the players slowed down the tempo of the game.

It was in this moment of "truce" that the better team struck.

Auxerre were recycling possession in their half of the field. All of a sudden, their left center back sent a cross field ball to the right flank, aiming towards his team's winger who had already started running towards it.

Carlos Henrique (Monaco's left back) manage to sniff out the danger and ran towards the ball, intercepting the pass and sent a short pass to Dennis Zakaria. The defensive midfielder had a rare moment of class on the ball. He sent a perfectly weighted line breaking pass towards the left flank to Minamino who had managed to leave the right back chasing after him in the dust.

Minamino used his right foot to stop the ball, before exploding forward with it, causing the Auxerre right back who thought he had managed to catch up with him to lose his balance and give up the chase.

With no other form of hinderance, Minamino made his way to edge of the penalty box and was driving inside when he was confronted by one of Auxerre's center backs. His legs flashed over the ball a couple of times before he used his left leg to kick the ball wide. He then ran towards the byline and managed to get a left footed cross into the penalty area.

Aliouche and the other defenders inside the box rushed towards the goalpost in an attempt to get to or prevent the the cross from getting to the intended reciever. Biereth saw the influx and pulled backward to enable him to get to the ball.

Biereth's moment of intelligence helped him a lot and he managed to get a foot to the ball and kicked it into the virtually empty net to score the second goal of the game and double Monaco's lead.

["Nice bit of trickery by Minamino and now he's in the box, and he's going. He's sent a cross into the box looking for a leg, and Biereth is there! And he's got a leg to it and it's a goal! Two nil here today for Monaco and it looks like the fans are pleased with the lead as well. They're running away with it. What a goal!"] The commentator immediately went into a fit as soon as soon as the ball went into the back of the net.

["Well I think that it's all credit to the intelligence of the striker to make himself be in the right place at the right time. It's very easy for him to be among the bunch rushing towards the goalpost looking for the pass but he's said 'no, that place's crowded, there's no chance I get to that', and he's just pulled behind so that he has enough space and time to make the shot"]

Tyler had a smile on his face when the second goal went into the back of the net. He pumped his fists and jumped. Jasmine had an even wilder reaction and for a while Tyler was taken aback.

He spent a couple of seconds staring straight at her before breaking out into a smile. He liked the fact that they were passionate about the same things.

The next few minutes of the first half passed without any major hiccups. The referee blew his whistle and the two teams filed out and went back into the locker room.

"So how are you enjoying the match so far?" Tyler asked as soon as the two teams had completely departed into the tunnels.

"It's been very exciting!" Jasmine smiled.

"I'm glad it's been. It would've been a shame if I spent my money buying tickets just to watch them play like they've never seen a football before". Tyler said. Although he said it in a joking manner, he meant every single word that he said. From a financial point of view and also from the point of view of a teammate. Even if he wasn't playing, he didn't want to see his teammates play badly.

Jasmine chuckled at his comment. And after a bit of small talk, they sat together in silence. It wasn't at all awkward, if was like a comfortable silence that one undertook with someone they felt familiar with.

As the pair sat in silence, the two set of players came back out onto the field. Even though they were behind by two goals, the Auxerre players looked like they were motivated as the marched out onto the field, clearly still hoping for a comeback win of some sorts.

The Monaco players also looked motivated. They had gone into the second half with a very good lead and they didn't want to do anything to mess it up. Their eyes were the very picture of determination as they lined in their formations and stared at the referee, waiting for him to blow his whistle and signal the beginning of the second half.

*Fweeee

The referee blew his whistle and the second half started. Monaco started on the offence right out of the gates. Like the first half, it didn't take up to one minute for them to string up a decent attack, taking the Auxerre team by shock.

Fortunately for Auxerre, their goalkeeper once again had their backs and managed to make the save that kept them in the match. A collective groan escaped the lips of the supporters of the home team as the attempt was saved.

Monaco kept knocking again and again as the match progressed, looking for that thkrd goal to put the match to bed.

In the sixty sixth minute, the match finally reached a turning point, it just wasn't the one that was expected.

Monaco, as was the usual so far in the second half, were on the attack. Wilfred Singo sent a cross field pass from the right wing to the left. Minamino got the ball under control with his left leg and started driving the ball down the wing.

He finally got to the edge of the box and using a couple of step overs, he managed to get past the right back and went into the penalty box. He used a bit of trickery to get into the box and he was about to send a shot towards the goalpost when all of a sudden he felt his body drop to the floor.

Tyler and Jasmine who were watching suddenly stopd up as soon as they saw Minamino drop. Tyler especially, had tears in his eyes as he saw the state of Minamino's left leg.

His foot itself was twisted in a different direction. His face was the picture of agony as he held onto his leg and started screaming.

"Oh my God". Tyler muttered, with his hands on his head. The tears that had formed in his eyes were threatening to spill out as he watched his teammate thrash about on the floor in agony.

The physiotherapists from Monaco ran out onto the pitch immediately while Jasmine was holding Tyler's hand. She knew that the injury was serious and she was saddened by it, so she could only guess how he was feeling as he knew Minamino personally.
