Unlimited Potential System

Chapter 44: Five Celebrations

"Alright boys, you've done well so far". Jeremi said as soon as he confirmed that everyone was inside the locker room. "You've done well in trying to neutralize the opposition so far, and we have the lead coming back out so that's a good thing. But here's the thing, the opposition, they're not stupid. They've probably realized that their approach to this match isn't working out well, so they'll probably try to change their approach. We need to lineup in a way that we'll be able to react tom any sudden change to their..."

Tyler listened as Jeremi made fundamental changes tactically and then said a bit of a motivational speech before leaving the locker room. The reserve team captain also said a few words, firing up everyone inside the locker room. A match official knocked the door and told them that they were to start coming outside.

As he marched out of the locker room, onto the field, Tyler felt completely different. He had already gotten a goal and an assist so far in the match, and even though he didn't get the ball as much as he would've wanted, two goal involvements in 45 minutes filled him with a lot of confidence.

The Montlouis striker stood over the ball as the rest of the two teams walked back to their positions. A few seconds later, the referee blew his whistle and the match was restarted.

As Jeremi predicted Montlouis started the second half with a very different game plan. They had abandoned their high pressing system out of posession and used a more pragmatic approach. They settled deep in their half and defended with numbers against potential attacks. Once they got the ball, however, it was a completely different story. It was as if they were made to play on the transition, one or two quick passes and the Monaco defense would found themselves victim of an onslaught.

Like that the first ten minutes of the second half passed. Monaco B had a lot of the ball but they hadn't managed to create anything so far. Montlouis' defensive approach proved to be effective and they were shutting out most of the Monaco attacks. It was almost as if they were were mocking them, telling them "you can have the ball all you want but you won't be able to do anything with it".

After fifteen minutes had passed in the second half, Monaco B finally had their first chance of the half. It was from an attacking error made by Montlouis' attacking midfielder. He hit a through pass meant for his team's striker but was easily intercepted by Monaco B's right center back.

With his first touch, the right center back sent a long pass towards the center of the pitch. The ball fell to Tiago, who quickly controlled it and spun away from the midfielder who was trying to press him. That spin alone took two Montlouis players out of the game, and suddenly there was space for Monaco to run into.

Tiago drove forward with the ball, carrying it past the halfway line. George was making a run ahead of him, Tyler was pulling wide left, but Tiago noticed something else. Monaco's defensive midfielder, who normally sat deep, had burst forward this time. He was charging down the middle, unmarked, as Montlouis' back line was still trying to get back into shape after losing the ball.

["And here go Monaco on the counterattack, they've got numbers! Tiago's at the heart of it once again, look at him glide forward, the balance, the control, the awareness! He's spotted a runner, wait, that's their holding midfielder!"]

At the perfect moment, Tiago slipped the ball right into the path of the defensive midfielder who met the shot first time. The Montlouis goalkeeper dove towards the ball, trying to get a hand to it, but his attempt was futile. The shot went past the halfway line and into the back of the net. Monaco doubled their lead. 3-1.

["Wilson, bravely puts it in a plate for the lesser trained personel. And he hits it! What a goal! Monaco have doubled their lead. The past ten minutes, we'd have thought that Montlouis were the one would've scored the next goal in this match but this just shows you how unpredictable football is. Beautiful run by Tiago there and he, as well as his team, is rewarded"]

The defensive midfielder, not used to scoring, went absolutely wild in his celebration. He made an A with his finger before running down the corner flag and hitting the calma. When he got up from his knee slide, he stood with his arms aloft, imitating Jude Bellingham's celebration.

That was all he had time for before he was rushed by his teammates, Tiago being the one to get to him first. They all congratulated him on his goal, patting his back and ruffling his hair, before they began their walk back to their half of the pitch.

While everyone was walking back, the defensive midfielders didn't forget to turn around and point to the Monaco badge on the left side of his jersey, completing yet another goal celebration.

["What a goal! What a counterattack! That is football at its purest form. They went from defending inside their own half to scoring in a matter of seconds. Tiago again, with the vision, with the timing, threading the needle for the defensive midfielder, who smashes it in for a rare goal. Monaco B restore their two goal cushion, and it's 3-1 now against Montlouis."]

While the Monaco players were celebrating, Montlouis looked rattled. Their plan to sit deep and strike on the counter had just backfired on them, and now they had to chase the game again. If it was just that, then they might not have minded, but they basically dominated the proceedings of the second half. It was very aggravating to have had control of the match and concede a goal just like that.

Tyler, on the other hand, had a smile on his face as he jogged back to his position. He felt like he had done well so far, and now his team had just doubled their lead. This match was going well for him so far.

After Monaco doubled their lead against Montlouis, the opposition decided to go on an all out attack, looking to score the goal that would bring them back, even just a little, to the match. In the next five minutes, Monaco B's goalkeeper would make two vital saves to make sure that his team held on to their two goal advantage.

Montlouis had the ball in Monaco's half, trying to piece together an attack. They recycled possession carefully, moving the ball from the left, to the right, then to the middle, trying to find an avenue of attack and to Monaco B's credit they held up pretty well. Unfortunately, an individual error cost the entire team

Monaco's left center back received the ball under light pressure. He had time and was faced with two options, he could either pass back, or send the ball out to begin an attack. He hesitated for a split second and then he decided to play a short pass into midfield. Unfortunately for him, it was sloppy, underhit and put on a plate for the Montlouis' right winger to pounce on.

He nicked the ball cleanly and then burst forward with a couple of touches. All of a sudden the Monaco B defense were in trouble. The person responsible for the current troubles went forward to press the right winger and hopefully win the ball back. The right winger who had been rushing forward with the ball waited for Monaco B's center back to reach him before sending a pass to his team's striker

The striker, who had been quiet for most of the game, didn't need a second invitation. One touch to set himself, then a blast past the helpless Monaco goalkeeper.

["Oh no! A mistake at the back, and Montlouis are right back in it! That is the kind of goal that coaches absolutely hate to concede. A cheap giveaway in your own third, punished in an instant. The right winger, he's been so alert all game, stealing in there and feeding his striker, who finishes ruthlessly. It's 3-2 now, and this match has come alive again."]

The Montlouis players rushed to retrieve the ball from the net and ran back to place it in the center circle. They might've scored a goal to get them back in the match, but there was still an equalizer waiting to be scored,

Tyler slapped his thighs in frustration. "Fucking hell, that was stupid."

He stared at the center back who gave the goal away, then turned around and started walking towards the halfway line, to take his position and allow the match to restart.
