My SSS-Rank Dungeon: Reborn In A Reverse World

Chapter 136: Demonstration

Everyone was bewildered hearing the name of Leon once again. They wondered, what did he do? Judging by Morgon's words and the occasion, it was definitely something groundbreaking.

While some of the top ones who were aware of the rumors of the Clearwill Potion straightened up, hearing was one thing and seeing was another.

They really wondered if it was true, but given how the Academy was making a big deal out of it—even showing off in front of one of the Nine—it meant the potion was real.

As a stage raised up from the arena, Amber and Leon jumped, landing easily on the high platform that was now visible to everyone clearly.

Meanwhile, Morgon continued her explanation for the confused audience.

"We all know how much humanity has suffered from the Corruption. It not only dealt damage to humans from the outside, but even from the inside. All warriors who fight in the corrupted land to protect our home fight off their inner corruption every single day. Not only that, it grows every day and there's always a high chance that they might end up becoming the same monsters they hate, the same monsters who destroyed their homes, and the same monsters who killed their loved ones."

Leon felt his heart stirring at her passionate speech, but Amber looked unfazed as ever. The audience, however, was affected the most as a solemn atmosphere covered the stadium.

"For decades, we have been searching for a cure for the Corruption or even something that might help us fight it. Why? Because we are completely helpless against it. We can fight off the external Corruption but not the one that lies within us."

There were many Awakened in the whole stadium and even among the people who were listening from afar. All of them could relate to everything she said, as they were indeed living such a miserable life.

"Even the best researchers we have till now spent decades in search of a solution, but they always failed. The Corruption is simply too much for us, but as miserable wretches, we still struggle against it. Even if we know the risks that lay in our path, the thorns we have to pass through, we still take them."

Leon had to admit that Morgon was very good with her words. She attacked the weakest nerve of every Awakened and stirred up their deepest emotions.

'Feels kinda bad to utilize their emotions like this, but this will surely boost my sales.'

"But as every single day our humanity progresses, we discover new things and reach new heights. That happened once again, and this time, it's done by a mere nineteen-year-old man. Yes, I am talking about none other than Leon Walker."

As everyone cheered for him, Leon felt several gazes landing on him from everywhere, but he only paid attention to the ones coming from above.

Morgon smiled at him from above and continued, "As some of you might know, Leon studied in the research department before his talent mutated, and he was the top student of that department. The department head, Mr. Akash, even praised him as one of the rarest talents of humanity."

She turned towards others and explained, "Leon had been working on a potion that fights off Corruption. It seemed a futile attempt considering the numerous failures, but he persisted. Even when his talent mutated and he transferred to the Combat Department, he continued his research and finally, a few weeks ago, he succeeded."

Her words sent a wave of shock and disbelief through the entire stadium. They couldn't even believe her words for a second, as it was simply a fantasy till now.

The way they looked at Leon changed yet again. If he really found the solution, then…

"I know what you're feeling because I was the same when Department Head Amber brought me this news. I simply couldn't believe it and tested it out myself. I know it's hard to believe in words, so I would also recommend watching a live test."

Soon, a cage was pulled out from the underground as it rose to the same height as the platform on which Amber and Leon were standing.

Inside the cage was a woman with many alien features: black tentacles were coming out from different parts of her body and several bone-like substances grew on the side of her head.

Seeing her, Leon was reminded of the woman he had tried saving on that day in the city of Vale. This woman's condition wasn't as bad as hers, but it was clear that she would also slowly succumb to the Corruption and turn into an Abyssal Creature.

That was what everyone thought too. It wasn't something new, so they only felt a bit of sadness and pity towards her, but it was also a reminder that they could end up like her.

"I'm sure everyone here arrived at the same conclusion. The woman can't survive. She also thinks the same, so she has given up. She's a veteran guard of our settlement in the Primordial Expanse and ended up in this state during a raid. Her case is hopeless, so she demanded a proper killing from her fellow comrades."

They could sympathize with her. They had also killed many of their colleagues due to this same situation, and they knew they would demand the same thing if they were in her shoes.

It was better to die an honorable death by their lover's hands rather than becoming a monster who would hunt them.

"You may be wondering why we didn't do that. Well, it is because there's a chance she can get better and return back to being a normal Awakened again."

Everyone focused on her words, as they wondered if the woman could really escape her fate. Even the woman looked up hopefully, her dark eyes burning with a flame of hope as she uttered some gibberish that no one could understand.

Morgon stared at her and said, "There's a chance we can save you, but for that we need your cooperation. If one doesn't want to fight the Corruption, this method is useless."

The woman nodded hurriedly. She had only given up because she knew there was no hope, but now that she had seen one, how could she not fight it?

She also had a family she wanted to return to, so how could she give up so easily?

Seeing that, Morgon smiled and said, "Then, I'll let Leon take over from here. It is something you developed, so show it to the world proudly."

"Thank you, Vice Headmistress," Leon was really grateful for her long speech and for giving him this grand stage to showcase his product.

He took a step forward, as every single gaze landed on him. He could even feel the gazes from the virtual seats as his persona became larger in the hologram for everyone to see.

"Vice Headmistress Morgon has already said everything that needed to be said, so I will move on towards the product which I have developed."

Taking out the familiar purple vial from his dimensional bag, he showed it to everyone.

"This is Clearwill Potion and its effects are incredibly simple but also very useful. Once you drink it, the contents will enter every part of your being, including your Soul Core where the true Corruption resides, and it will do its only work—suppressing the Corruption."

Gasps could be heard from the crowd as they realized the potential of this potion if it worked. Even though it couldn't cleanse the Corruption, the fact that it could suppress the Corruption was more than enough.

As long as it was suppressed, they had the chance to cleanse it. After all, the only reason it took so much time for them to cleanse was because it resisted a lot, and if they weren't careful, it would take over.

Most importantly, this also meant that humanity had taken a major step towards defeating the Corruption. They had already found the way to suppress Corruption, then who was to say they couldn't find a way to erase it completely from the world?

Even if it would take decades, everyone was still beaming with joy at the thought. Corruption had destroyed countless homes one way or another, so everyone hated it to the core.

A victory over it was to be celebrated, of course.

But some were still skeptical about it. Leon knew it too. Only with the demonstration would they believe him.

"I'm going to feed this potion to that woman. If she has a strong will to live and survive, this potion will save her life. And that will happen right before your eyes."

With that, he turned to walk towards the woman, but a hand over his shoulder stopped him. Looking sideways at Amber in confusion, he asked, "What happened?"

"She isn't in the right condition," Amber said as she snatched away the Clearwill Potion. "It's dangerous for you. Let me do it."

Leon smiled and let her be. The way she showed her concern for him certainly won his heart over and over again.
