The Ancestor of All Demons

Chapter 607: 496 Your retribution is me

Xin Ru Nun just retreated in the realm of Buddhist Law and by no means became demonized.

When she was known as Xin Ruyu within the marginal sects, she would not carelessly engage in massive killings without concern nor arrange a duel with the Master of the Stone God Palace; she would choose a secluded spot on the mountaintop to prevent innocent casualties.

She knew that sooner or later, a life-and-death battle with Shi Feiyang was inevitable, but the time had not yet come. Today she had truly only come to take away Elder Kuzhu and convert him into Buddhism.

For that reason, she did not make a move against Shi Feiyang but instead asked, "Fellow Daoist, in what form do you think Elder Kuzhu should be saved?"

Shi Feiyang replied, "Naturally, in the Daoist Dharma Body."

"The Buddhists say that sentient beings should be saved in whatever form they ought to be saved, and the Bodhisattva will appear in that very form to preach to them."

Shi Feiyang turned to look inside the gate, "Then do you consider me to be a Bodhisattva too?"

Xin Ru Nun questioned, "The form the Bodhisattva takes to preach is always the Buddhist Law. Can you preach the Buddhist Law, Fellow Daoist?"

Shi Feiyang smiled lightly, "Do you consider Daoist Technique to be the Buddhist Law?"

Xin Ru Nun shook her head, "Immortal Techniques do not match the Buddhist Three Dharma Seals; they can only be considered the worldly law, not the transcendent law. Daoist Techniques cannot eliminate worries, nor can they break free from the sea of suffering."

Shi Feiyang challenged her further, "So what are your worries? From what sea of suffering do you wish to break free?"

Xin Ru Nun was taken aback, then seriously contemplated, "My disciple was killed by you; that is my worry, this world is my sea of suffering."

"The reason I could kill your disciple must have a past cause, and the reason she faced this dire consequence is that she must have sown evil causes in the past," Shi Feiyang retorted. "An eye for an eye—a debt repaid in kind; why do you still seek vengeance from me? If you kill me, you too are planting evil causes and will face dire consequences in the future."

Xin Ru Nun remained silent for a moment, "You killing my disciple was the cause, and me killing you is the consequence; your retribution is me."

"So you mean you have to kill me? If you don't, then the cause and effect are void, right?"

"Because the cause and effect are not void, I must kill you."

"Well, if you cannot kill me, then the cause and effect are also void, right?"

"Because the cause and effect are not void, I will certainly be able to kill you!"

"Then if you are also killed by me, what cause has resulted in that consequence?"

Xin Ru Nun gave a cold smile, "Throughout the empty expanse and every Dharma Realm, among all the heavenly worlds, no one can kill me, neither can you."

"How about yourself? Can you kill yourself?"

Xin Ru Nun was startled again, "If I could thoroughly kill myself, I would be able to achieve Nirvana."

The two ceased speaking and quietly waited. Soon, the sound of a baby's cry wafted from inside; Elder Kuzhu was finally born!

Shi Feiyang remained motionless, and so did Xin Ru Nun; they quietly watched inside the gate.

Two streams of golden light flew from the sky and landed, transforming into two muscular, towering Big Monks.

These two fellows were the Alms Bowl Arhat and the Dharma Wheel Arhat under Grandmaster Ha Ha.

They found it strange to see an old nun and a young Taoist standing side by side at the gate, looking inside.

Upon approaching, they shouted loudly, "Where did this Demon Path thief of a nun come from? If you know what's good for you, don't make trouble and scram immediately!"

Their arrogance was not without reason: each of Grandmaster Ha Ha's eighteen Arhat disciples could dominate a mountain on their own and establish an independent sect as a Sect Hierarch.

They simply chose not to take on disciples; otherwise, their disciples and grand-disciples would be renowned Sword Immortals.

It's a rare feat in this world for one to have a Dao Level and power that surpasses theirs, and even those stronger than them would tread carefully out of respect for Grandmaster Ha Ha and give them wide berth.

However, when Shi Feiyang and Xin Ru Nun turned around, the two were so frightened they nearly peed themselves!

Shi Feiyang had caused great upheaval on Wildman Mountain, and they had witnessed his formidable prowess with their own eyes.

After the event, Grandmaster Ha Ha had told them that in future encounters with Shi Feiyang, they should avoid him at all costs, and if possible, the farther they could run, the better.

As for Xin Ru Nun, she was an elder who had long instilled tremendous fear in them, someone whom even Grandmaster Ha Ha was extremely wary of.

A thousand years ago, as Xin Ruyu, she roamed freely across the world, purging all evil, and beneath her Immortal Sword, she slaughtered hundreds if not thousands of Cultivators. At that time, Grandmaster Ha Ha was not afraid of her, but after she converted to Buddhism and became Xin Ru Nun, her power surged remarkably, outshining those who were once comparable to her.

In that year, the Xuanyuan Dharma King and the Nine Fierce God Monarchs trapped the Dragon Slayer in the North Sea. They besieged her for a long time, intending to destroy her body and soul entirely.

Xin Ru Nun released a Spirit Talisman and broke their array. The Xuanyuan Dharma King and the Nine Fierce God Monarchs smeared oil on their feet and ran at incredible speed, escaping thousands of miles away in an instant!

It was evident how fearful those fellows were of Xin Ru Nun!

These two monks thought they were not inferior to the Nine Fierce God Monarchs, but admittedly they were no match for the Xuanyuan Dharma King. Even together, they couldn't defeat him.

They stared at the two, and the Alms Bowl Arhat stammered, "We have two disciples trapped inside, cultivating deviation. Our master has sent us to bring them back."

The Dharma Wheel Arhat was a bit tougher, "We mind our own business, and our master is watching from atop the distant peak!"

Xin Ru Nun sneered, "Grandmaster Ha Ha's fame is worth less than a dog's in front of me; you think you can scare me with his name?"

Shi Feiyang said, "Your master is currently dueling with Lu Daoist; he probably wouldn't want us to go there. Your two disciples indeed are inside, they tried to mess up my plan, and I only imposed a minor punishment on them. It's not a cultivation deviation, so don't get the wrong idea."

The Alms Bowl Arhat said, "How did my two disciples wrong you? You use such despicable and venomous means against them; aren't you afraid of being laughed at for bullying the weak?"

Shi Feiyang found it funny to hear this and thought, Is this fellow placing himself as the junior? He's placing himself on equal footing with Grandmaster Ha Ha and even calling himself the young!

"The methods I used, compared to what you and your disciples have done for over a thousand years, are as pure and clean as a white lotus flower. Speaking of despicableness and venom, how many in the world can compare with Grandmaster Ha Ha? I admit inferiority."

If it were someone else, the two Demon Monks would have already attacked, but facing Shi Feiyang, they didn't dare to act rashly. The psychological shadow Shi Feiyang left on them in Wildman Mountain was just too big.

After holding it in for a long time, the Dharma Wheel Arhat suddenly asked Xin Ru Nun, "You are the renowned Divine Nun of the Buddhist community, and you just watch him use such venomous Demon Path Techniques against my two disciples?"

Xin Ru Nun replied, "This is called retribution; he is their retribution."

The Dharma Wheel Arhat said, "You're unworthy of being a Buddhist Divine Nun! To stand by and watch a demon bring chaos to the human world without lifting a finger! Are you afraid of him? I heard your disciples and grand-disciples all died at his hands, and you suffered a huge setback at Qiao Mountain. You still haven't sought revenge, and now you stand with him!"

Xin Ru Nun gave a cold huff, "If you don't leave now, your retribution will be me!"

Knowing they couldn't win, they planned to quickly fly back and report to their master.

Suddenly, two roars came from the courtyard, like two severely injured beasts issuing their last cries.

Both recognized the voices as their disciples, Huang Yun Arhat and Red Flame Arhat!

Alarmed, they tried to rush in, only to retract their steps after taking just one step forward.

Then the gate swung open, and four young women walked out, each stunningly gorgeous and graceful, their bodies partially veiled with translucent red gauze, giving tantalizing glimpses of their forms.

When the Four Women approached Shi Feiyang, they bowed and said, "Fortunately, we have dealt with those two, their Nascent Souls devoured by us. We don't know if the master intends to grant them to us or take them back?"

They had actually absorbed the Nascent Souls of Huang Yun Arhat and Red Flame Arhat!

Enraged, the Dharma Wheel Arhat refrained from cursing Shi Feiyang and turned to Xin Ru Nun, "As a Buddhist Divine Nun, how can you indifferently watch these four demons harm people here? Are you really not afraid of the Buddha's blame?

Do you still want to Ascend to the Pure Land? Others will see and believe that Buddhism colludes with demons, or even that demons are raised by Buddha! This will cause many to misunderstand Buddhism, lose their ambition and diligence—such a grave sin…"

Xin Ru Nun angrily replied, "You fellows parade around in front of people, calling yourselves the Eighteen Arhats. If it wasn't for a thousand years of Buddhist cultivation curbing my fire, I would've already pinched you one by one!"

While she spoke, her hand moved as if she really did so. She reached out and, with an invisible hand, grabbed the Dharma Wheel Arhat's neck and lifted him as one would a small chicken.

Knowing the severity, the Dharma Wheel Arhat quickly took a piece from his little finger, threw it into a Dharma Wheel, which began spinning at high speed, expanding to the size of a cartwheel, and suddenly enclosed him.

His Dharma Wheel was indeed magical, breaking Xin Ru Nun's spell and protecting him in a rapidly spinning Yellow Light, transforming into a Yellow Cloud that enveloped him and was about to break free and fly away.

Xin Ru Nun flipped her wrist, and an invisible large bowl descended from above, smashing him back to the ground just as he was about to ascend rapidly.

On the other side, Shi Feiyang ordered the four Demons to extract the Nascent Soul of the Alms Bowl Arhat too.

The Alms Bowl Arhat turned pale, merged into a yellow light, and attempted to break through the sky.

The four Demons turned into red Demon Light and chased after him like lightning; they wrapped around the yellow light, tumbled through the sky a few times, and then fell back to the ground.

The Alms Bowl Arhat desperately sat up, began meditating, and placed the Purple Gold Bowl in front of him. Reciting Secret Spells, the bowl spouted fireworks like popping corn, erupting in a series of explosive sounds, surrounded by colorful bursts of fire.

The four Demons were forced back temporarily, only hovering around him. Whenever they got too close and the fireworks hit them, they had to retreat due to the unbearable pain.

Seeing this, Shi Feiyang muttered under his breath, "Useless thing!" With a flick of his hand, he released five more Demon Mothers, sending all nine to besiege him.

The Alms Bowl Arhat's bowl spewed substances that were kryptonite to various demon bodies. The nine Demons dared not get sprayed, and could only forcibly suck the spiritual energy from the Alms Bowl Arhat from a distance.
