Golden Cicada, Laughing Monk, and two others ventured out across the mountainside, searching for fully formed plant spirits. Naturally, such searches were bound to be fruitless; spirits of this kind were extremely rare in the world.
Having searched for half a day with no results, they dared not linger outside for long. Sun Nan urged the group to hurry back every so often, and eventually, they returned to the mountain, disheartened.
They had entered through the thirteenth limitation from the left, and the four agreed not to tell anyone else about it.
Their mana insufficient, embarrassed, and indiscreet, they would find the normal Emei Formation closed upon exit, barring their return. It was Shi Feiyang who left a path open for them.
Once they returned, they could only just barely restore some of the prohibitions. If Lady Miao Yi or Master Can Xia were to inspect, they would immediately notice something amiss. It was Shi Feiyang who perfectly restored everything, leaving no trace—none of them were the wiser.
Only the Laughing Monk noticed something amiss but simply thought it was the miraculous self-restorative nature of the Emei Sect's Immortal Array. He never gave it another thought.
Once there was a first time, a second was sure to follow, and with a second time, countless more ensued.
In the following three months, the four made over ten secret outings and even pulled in Yi Zhou's two grandsons, Yi Ding and Yi Zhen.
Yi Zhou also possessed a millennium of Dao Level and strong mana. Back in the day, he had ascended from a bustling market in the Human World to the Star Constellations Sea with his entire family. Later, they moved from the Star Constellations Sea to Xuan Turtle Island in the South Sea.
They did not dwell in a cave dwelling on the island but built a Xuan Turtle Hall. Besides Yi Zhou, there was his principal wife, Granny Yang, two concubines—who were identical twins—his son Yi Cheng, daughter-in-law Wei Qingqing, two grandsons Yi Ding and Yi Zhen, and his daughter Yi Jing. The family lived together, enjoying immortal bliss.
Their situation was quite unique in the whole Shushan World.
Yi Zhou's own Daoist Techniques were also quite exceptional. Although he could have ascended long ago, he chose to wait so his family could accompany him.
The older generation of Sword Immortals all knew him. Neither the righteous nor the evil dared to provoke him, both eager to gain his favor, which also led to his two grandsons growing up spoiled and unruly, believing they could create any trouble with the support of their parents and grandfather.
Coincidentally, Golden Cicada had a similar character. Once she arrived at Emei, she quickly befriended them. Since they had found nothing in the previous searches, they decided to rope in the two. For them, it was entertaining and fun, and just like that, the group expanded to six people.
Yet, they still found nothing, always leaving with disappointment after the excitement of the search.
Using their antics as a backdrop, Shi Feiyang began to explore the Liangyi Dust Formation.
To outsiders, he maintained the facade of retreating for cultivation in his cave. In fact, he transformed into a small creature barely over a foot tall, with tiny hands and feet and a sprout with five green leaves on his head, masquerading as a ginseng baby. He left invisibly to formally probe the mysteries of the Liangyi Dust Formation.
Having a deep foundational knowledge of the Liangyi Dust Formation, he was careful to investigate its secrets while ostensibly sightseeing around Emei Mountain. Now, he re-deconstructed the operation principles and framework of the Array according to the heavenly cycles.
First, he determined the positioning of the Array's outer perimeter, the variations of each gateway, and their interrelations. Then, he gradually went deeper.
Indeed, the Array was amazingly intricate. For anyone else, just lightly touching it would trigger a reaction, ensnaring them and alerting people from the Emei Sect.
Shi Feiyang, with his Daoist power, prevented such reactions, moving inwards from the outskirts until he finally entered its core.
On this day, having calculated that several powerful individuals from the Emei Sect were in retreat and even the rotating duty Master Can Xia was at a critical point in his practice, he, as the ginseng baby, entered the Liangyi Dust Formation, entering through the Death Gate and exiting through the Life Gate, then from the Annihilation Gate, circling the Ming Gate, and finally entering the central Illusion Gate. Breaking through layers of illusions, he ascended directly to Spiritual Jade Peak.
This Illusion Gate was the core of the Liangyi Dust Formation. It was said that "from the Liangyi Dust evolved the vast primordial worlds," and this place was where that happened. The simplified versions lacked this power, but this complete version truly possessed this energy!
The eyes of the Array were on Spiritual Jade Peak, where the Innate One Qi Taiching Talisman was enveloped in colorful Spiritual Energy, twisting and turning the fabric of space and time, breeding countless interleaved worlds. These worlds were logically interlinked.
One might take a step in this world, and the next might carry them into another, or even standing still, the worlds would shift with time—the loneliness peaks of Yellow Mountain at sunset the one second, and the vast ocean awaiting sunrise the next.
Upon entering, Shi Feiyang exclaimed in amazement!
Even a Heavenly Immortal would get lost in these endless worlds!
Fortunately, he practiced the Three Emperors Dao, and in his possession were two treasures: the Heavenly Mirror and the Yu Guang Disc.
In his left hand, he held the Heavenly Mirror, upon which rested the Yu Guang Disc, with Golden Radiance surging and a shower of flowers swirling; the pointer on the Yu Guang Disc kept spinning.
With his right hand, he formed talismans, casting spells to protect himself while calculating the evolving rules of the Array, and keenly observing the mysteries of these worldly changes.
Deeper and deeper he walked, piercing through layers of worlds—night and day, frost and snow, sun and moon, wolves and leopards, rivers and seas...
The more Shi Feiyang traveled, the more astonished he became. Without the two Magical Treasures in his hands, he wouldn't have dared to enter.
He pierced through the alternating real and illusory landscapes until he reached the summit of Spiritual Jade Peak, and there he saw a Divine Talisman wrapped in colorful Spiritual Energy.
He recognized it as the Nine Heavens Spiritual Energy, the very thing most abhorred by Heavenly Demons. Inside, naturally, was the Innate One Qi Taiching Talisman!
As he approached, the talisman immediately began to flicker, preparing to unleash its power. Shi Feiyang aimed the Heavenly Mirror above at it. Engulfed by the golden light beam, the talisman's light dimmed under the might of the Heavenly God's supreme treasure, capable of invoking the changes between the innately primal and the successive dust. With no one to control the Array, the talisman light instantly dulled.
Shi Feiyang took the opportunity to come in front of a cliff; this place was the treasure hideout of Spiritual Jade Peak.
He then shone the Heavenly Mirror onto the rocky cliff, which bore thirty-six Great Heavenly Divine Talismans, and proceeded to rotate the mirror following the trajectory of the Heavenly stars.
This object was akin to a massive combination lock, with the thirty-six Great Heavenly Divine Talismans corresponding to over four thousand Heavenly worlds and various changes in Yin Escape and Yang Escape.
Even the Three Immortals and Two Elders could not open it; it would only open by itself at specific times, such as when the Emei Sect inaugurated their premises or, as previously, during a major crisis faced by the sect. If all the disciples gathered to pray before it, it might decide to open depending on the circumstances.
Shi Feiyang, relying on his own Dao Level and two Magical Treasures, deduced the "password" in the shortest amount of time.
The arrays set by the masters would take into consideration the flux of time, with the Heavenly worlds constantly changing along with it.
This "password" was also continuously changing; what it had been a second ago could shift to a different configuration in the next.
Shi Feiyang calculated rapidly, the hands on the Yu Guang Disc spinning into rotation; suddenly, with a light shout from him, a beam of light shot forth from the tip of the needle, piercing into the wall.
Then with both hands forming seals, the Heavenly Treasure Mirror suspended in front of him continued to cast a beam of light over the cliff, resembling a giant knob. As he exerted all his strength, it drove the Heavenly symbols set into the cliff to turn.
The next second, the smooth cliff split open, revealing an aperture from which boundless light radiated outward.
Shi Feiyang, bold to the extreme, relied on the power of the Heavenly Treasure Mirror and flew right in.
In fact, the moment he ascended Spiritual Jade Peak, the Liangyi Dust Formation had been fully activated, catching the attention of Master Can Xia, who was in meditation. Her eyes flew open abruptly.
At first, she thought it was some junior disciple causing mischief by accidentally triggering the array, but upon closer inspection, she realized something was amiss. Someone had intruded into the Liangyi Dust Formation—and had not merely skirted the peripheral areas but had directly ascended Spiritual Jade Peak!
This was serious!
Master Can Xia swiftly flew over to inspect the situation, deducing from the traces that this was not the work of an invading enemy force, but rather a stealthy intrusion.
She quickly formed seals and soared to the summit of Spiritual Jade Peak, first activating the Innate One Qi Taiching Talisman. The Talisman immediately erupted in dazzling brilliance, like a colossal explosion among the stars, drawing the Heavenly Stars into its wake of flashing rotation, and she set the whole Liangyi Dust Formation into full operation.
Once the formation was fully activated, inside and outside Emei Mountain was as fortified as a bastion, in an unassailable position. Only then did she start to carefully examine the changes within the array.
However, upon inspection, there were no drastic changes to the array, except within the "Ming Gate" to the northwest, where she found a ginseng leaf.
Master Can Xia picked up the leaf to study it closely, identifying the ginseng it came from as being at least three thousand years old.
At the time, she could not fathom the reasons and decided to bring it back for further examination. She also later asked the younger generation if they had noticed anything strange.
Upon hearing of someone breaching the Liangyi Dust Formation, all the disciples became tense, "Could it be the Blood Demon or the Red Corpse that sneaked in?"
"Impossible!" declared Master Can Xia firmly, "If they had come in, there would have already been a bloodbath."
She had experienced how Deng Yin had fallen into the Demon Path, and during the sect's inauguration, she had witnessed firsthand the ruthlessness of the newly-awakened Blood Demon—it intended to utterly annihilate every member of the Emei Sect.
At present, she was certain someone had entered the Liangyi Dust Formation, yet who it was remained unknown. The only clue laid with the three-thousand-year-old ginseng leaf.
After much consideration, Golden Cicada's eyes lit up with a sudden insight.
He gathered his friends privately, "Could it be that while we failed to find the Plant Spirits out there, it actually came in by itself?"
Sun Nan and the jovial Monk both felt it impossible, "There are arrays sealing Emei Mountain inside and out. We can come and go freely, but it doesn't mean outsiders can too. If even a ginseng spirit could get in, then wouldn't the Blood Demon and Red Corpse also be able to enter at will?"
Golden Cicada, still not convinced, went to ask Ganoderma Immortal.
Through gestures, Ganoderma Immortal informed them indeed, they had nurtured a three-thousand-year-old ginseng...
He wasn't lying; back in Outer Heaven Divine Mountain, Shi Feiyang had Mo Zhui and the three juniors manage all the cultivation of Immortal Grass Spiritual Medicine. After coming to Central Earth, as they transported water and planted trees, they also encountered numerous Spiritual Medicines such as Yellow Ginseng, Poria, and Polygonum multiflorum in the wild.
They didn't harvest indiscriminately but protected those close to transforming and sought to help them achieve Spirit Transformation.
Among them was an old ginseng of more than three thousand years, which, though it had gained sentience, had yet to transform into human form. It had endured a natural disaster, suffered two calamities at the hands of humans—utterly weathered, with branches and leaves struck by lightning.
Ganoderma Immortal and the others were indeed nurturing such a ginseng on the cusp of transformation...
Hearing this, Golden Cicada, thinking it had already transformed and could freely move like Ganoderma Immortal, grew excited, "So it really was your companion who came to find you!"
The Monk shook his head, "It's impossible for it to have sneaked in, entered the Liangyi Dust Formation by accident, and still escaped."
Golden Cicada disagreed, "Although they are Plant Spirits, each has profound Dao Levels. Ganoderma Immortal has achieved Nascent Soul, and is proficient in Circulation divination, holding a Flying Sword Magical Treasure; he's more formidable than the average Independent Immortal. Who's to say for sure they couldn't come in? Besides, the trespass was only into the fringe of the Immortal Array, quickly leaving through the Ming Gate—perhaps it could be done!"
