The Ancestor of All Demons

Chapter 463: 378 Great Heavenly Dragon Bodhisattva

Bai Mei Zen Master unleashed two Golden Buddha Palms in succession, the first of which was broken by Shi Feiyang's Suiren's Drill, while the second struck the Mountain Protection Immortal Formation. The Golden Light Giant Hand pressed down with mighty force against the Five-Colored Radiance causing trembling and quaking of both light and land alike; the earth itself shuddered.

"Bang!" A series of dull, thunderous explosions echoed. The five-colored radiance and the golden light giant hand shattered simultaneously, their various hues blending and bursting into a sky full of colorful radiant rain.

Having breached the immortal formation, Bai Mei Zen Master brought his palms together, conjuring a vast amount of Sandalwood Buddha Light out of thin air. This light enveloped Jiang Xuejun, Bai Guyi, and Yang Jin, forcibly shifting them backward.

From their perspective, what was initially an enclosure by interwoven Demon Light Sword Shadows, suddenly transformed into a space filled with golden Buddha Light in all ten directions which flashed brightly and then vanished; they found themselves relocated several miles away.

Unwilling to concede, the Sword Spirit of the Nine Demon Swords firmly locked onto the three foes, intent on tracking them. However, Shi Feiyang did not permit it and recalled it to his side.

Shi Feiyang's agenda was to retrieve the Xuanyuan Two Treasures, not to seek vengeance or prove his might in a moment of temper. If Bai Mei Zen Master, representing the Orthodox Sect, could negotiate and clarify the matter, a peaceful resolution would be optimal. After all, as a lone person, he couldn't overpower so many monks and nuns. Pushed to desperation and forced to fight, even if he dragged his opponents down with him, he himself would sink the fastest.

Not only was Bai Mei Zen Master's beard white, so were his eyebrows, and he wore white robes. He held a Zen Staff in his left hand, around his wrist hung a string of Buddha Beads—none other than the Muni Ding Bead destined for Li Yingqiong's Primordial Spirit. In his right hand, he carried a sizable Purple Gold Bowl, his face ruddy and serene, and he was flanked by two large eagles, one white and one black.

The old monk hovered in midair, within a vast sea of golden clouds. Zhu Youmu and others, upon seeing him, hurriedly approached to greet him amiably.

Zhu Youmu said, "Master, this Demon Dragon has entered the Demon Path and is very..."

"Silence!" Bai Mei Zen Master stopped him with a powerful shout, his voice resonant like a large bell, buzzing in everyone's ears, "Had you not insisted on showing off your strength and coming to Qiao Mountain, how could such a tragedy have occurred today? Those who died—their karma partially falls upon your head!"

Though Zhu Youmu appeared young, like a small monk, he had regained the memories of his past lives. With a thousand years of cultivation, strictly speaking, he was senior to the two old immortals and three saints. Scolded publicly by his master, he didn't dare to oppose, and his junior counterparts dared even less to underestimate him.

Only Jiang Xuejun's face shifted expressions: the two primarily responsible for coming here were myself and Zhu Youmu. Now, with karma halved to him, does the other half fall upon me? So, the Demon Dragon who actually committed the killings is not to be blamed at all?

Bai Mei Zen Master was aware of her thoughts; a slight glance at her sufficed, and he said nothing further, but moved the golden cloud ten miles closer to Qiao Mountain.

He chanted solemnly on the cloud, "Amitabha Buddha! Mr. Shi, subdue your murderous intent!"

Shi Feiyang looked up at the old monk, indeed finding him more formidable than any expert he had encountered before. Relying on his Magical Treasure, he could engage in battle with him, yet whether he would win or lose in the end remained uncertain—there remained a glimmer of hope for victory.

He smiled and said, "I originally harbored no intent to kill, but your disciples' murderous intent has provoked my own. If you, venerable Zen Master, wish me to subdue my murderous intent, you must first make these disciples of yours relinquish theirs. Only then can there be talk of suppressing murderous intents."

"Amitabha Buddha, Mr. Shi indeed possesses a root of Wisdom. If you could convert and practice Buddhism, your future prospects would be boundless." Bai Mei Zen Master sincerely said, "If you are determined to learn Buddhism, I am willing to impart the entire teachings of three Buddhist Scriptures that I've cultivated over a thousand years. If Mr. Shi can devote himself to thorough cultivation, he will eventually be a Great Heavenly Dragon Bodhisattva in Nirvana!"

Truly, the old monk meant his offer earnestly, hoping Shi Feiyang would take up Buddhism. Such a choice would effectively nullify all debts of karma with the Emei Sect and various other monks and nuns. Naturally, Shi Feiyang would also forego any claim to the Xuanyuan Two Treasures, and the day's tensions would dissolve like clouds.

Monks who have cultivated to his level do not lie about past, present, or future. Any falsehoods would breach their Vow Body Dharma Body, destroying their own cultivation, akin to setting ablaze a forest of meritorious deeds.

His promise to pass on his cultivated Buddhist Scriptures to Shi Feiyang was certain, as was his belief that Shi Feiyang could eventually become a Great Heavenly Dragon Bodhisattva.

In Nirvana, where Great Bodhisattvas who include the 'Mahas' suffix are on par with Liberated Ones like Arhats and also practice the Bodhi Path—a level equivalent to First Stage Bodhisattvas—such Bodhisattvas manifest like Buddhas in a No Buddha World, the exchange value of this offer was incredibly high. In terms of cultivation, no matter how formidable the Xuanyuan Two Treasures could be, they were external items while the status of a Great Bodhisattva came from personal cultivation.

Naturally, achieving the status of a Great Heavenly Dragon Bodhisattva wasn't something he could trade, but rather he was delineating the path and arranging the course. As long as Shi Feiyang followed it step by step, he would undoubtedly reach his destination.

He was offering an outcome in the future in exchange for Shi Feiyang's present cooperation.

If it were someone else, or indeed 99.99999% of the world, who had received such an enlightenment from Bai Mei Zen Master and a promise of such a high future status, that would be more than they could hope for in several lifetimes of cultivation; they would undoubtedly kneel and bow readily, joyfully converting.

But Shi Feiyang had no intention of practicing Buddhism; he followed the Three Emperors Dao, and the state of Nirvana—as neither dead nor alive—was not his pursuit.
