Xuan Shu was searching for a specific Earth Immortal named Ji Fan.
Ji Fan had achieved Enlightenment several hundred years ago and ordinarily cultivated at Qilian Mountain's Heavenly Dog Cliff, choosing to undergo Soldier Disintegration before the cataclysm.
Since he cultivated a sidetrack method, he feared that reincarnation might cause him to lose his true nature without someone to guide him; fearing a complete plunge into the cycle of rebirth, he secluded himself in Qilian Mountain for one hundred thirty-eight years, torturously refining his Primordial Spirit until he advanced from a Ghost Immortal to an Earth Immortal.
In former years, he had studied Taoism from an ancestor of the Kunlun Sect and became his disciple. Although he never joined the ranks of the Kunlun Sect, a bond of master and disciple was formed, and he refined the Five Thunder Heavenly Heart True Method.
On the day he was facing his tribulation, besides wielded the Five Thunder True Method, he also used a set specifically to combat Heavenly Demons— the Sky Blue Divine Sand. When activated, the whole sky was filled with blue light and thunder flashes, creating a magnificent spectacle which Xuan Shu witnessed and remembered. Now that he wanted to drive away Shi Feiyang, he thought of Ji Fan.
When Xuan Shu arrived, Ji Fan was fuming because he saw that Xuan Shu had also risen from a Ghost Immortal to an Earth Immortal, and it coincided with the prophesied emergence of the treasured artifact in Qiao Mountain's Sacred Tomb, immediately stirring in him the thought of acquiring it, carrying his Magical Treasure and hurried to join Xuan Shu.
Meanwhile, Shi Feiyang, deciding to arrive at Qiao Mountain's Sacred Tomb earlier, aimed to guard the tomb of the Yellow Emperor for three years and was prepared to be harassed by numerous people.
He knew that after Xuan Shu's departure, a return was inevitable and not to be underestimated, so he hastened to imbue the Five-Colored Arch at the mountain's base with a vast amount of Five Elements Essence Qi, setting up the Array properly.
As expected, Xuan Shu and Ji Fan attacked the next day.
Ji Fan, tall with a face as blue as a pitted surface and with three long blue beards, wore feathered garments and a star crown. With a dual sword on his back and a horsetail whisk in hand, he followed beside Xuan Shu.
Upon their arrival, Xuan Shu immediately persuaded Shi Feiyang to leave quickly, "This Treasure should not belong to you, so please leave this place. We have no grievances nor grudges, let's not harm the good atmosphere needlessly."
Shi Feiyang retorted, "Who are you to recklessly discuss the ownership of Cosmic Treasures? Is it up to you to decide who they belong to?"
Xuan Shu calmly replied, "Buddhist Great Master Fen Tuo has already clarified the ownership of the treasures, and although Fen Tuo didn't specify, there were hints…"
"What do they count for? Are they qualified to decide who gets the treasures?"
Xuan Shu was shocked. She didn't understand what kind of courage Shi Feiyang had to speak so disrespectfully towards the two Divine Nuns. In her eyes, these two were contemporary Bodhisattvas, whose Cultivation and Daoist power had reached the highest realm. They lingered in this world because they were only slightly stuck in earthly dust. Any demon, no matter how powerful, was just a Buddha Light or a chant of the fan, or at most a slap to resolve in their presence. She secretly puzzled and felt somewhat infuriated, thinking how arrogant this person was!
Xuan Shu simply wanted to drive Shi Feiyang away, but Ji Fan was also intent on seizing the treasure of the Sacred Tomb. He shouted, "Since he refuses to leave, there's nothing more to say, let's take action!"
He flung his horsetail whisk, releasing millions of sparks, resembling the sky filled with fireworks during the new year, instantly covering dozens of acres with flames gathered from Earth Fire at Qilian Mountain, raining down fire on Shi Feiyang.
Shi Feiyang stretched out his hand, creating an immense suction in his palm like a whale drawing water, gathering all flames towards himself, consolidating them into a single flame, which he held at his fingertip.
Ji Fan, powerful in Mana and proficient with Earth Fire, grabbed a handful of Five-Colored Divine Sand, swiftly formed a colorful crystal-like lamp, placed the flame inside, and started casting a Spell to refine a Magical Treasure.
Blue-bearded Ji Fan saw this and was both shocked and enraged. He swung the horsetail whisk again, releasing more sparks to burn Shi Feiyang.
Shi Feiyang, holding the lamp, gathered all the fire into it. Ji Fan then trod the Gang Step in mid-air while forming spells with his left hand and swinging the horsetail whisk with his right hand, shouting loudly. This time, he released millions of bright Mars, resembling a star map bursting in the night sky. The stars interacted and drew close, ejecting fiery lines, crisscrossing to form a sky-covering net of fire, enveloping the entire Qiao Mountain.
As Ji Fan chanted spells louder, more intense fire erupted from the net, instantly creating a mountain of light and a sea of fire, seemingly burning everything on Qiao Mountain to ashes.
Besides, Ji Fan also used the Five Thunder Heavenly Heart Righteous Skill to call upon thunderclouds from all five directions in the sky's dome. Shi Feiyang noted it wasn't the direct transmission used by Yu Xiao and Shi Mingzhu in the past; it incorporated many different methods, increasing its power by more than a hundred times!
As the sea of fire pressed down, and the thunder above roared, tearing through the clear skies, dozens of thunderbolts struck down from above the fire net, all targeting Shi Feiyang!
Shi Feiyang held the Five-Colored Lamp, catching all the thunderbolts within it. Then, with the right hand forming a spell and pointing upwards, he also drew in the expanse of fiery clouds. As they descended, tightening continuously, what originally spanned two to three hundred miles across rapidly shrank. When it was only a few feet above Shi Feiyang's head, it had condensed to the size of less than an acre.
Seeing this, Ji Fan was stunned and quickly formed spells while swinging the horsetail whisk harder, releasing more sparks and thunderbolts.
However, no matter how hard he tried, all these thunder and fire were eventually absorbed into the Five-Colored Divine Lamp, transformed into a single flame with tiny thunderbolt-like sparks rolling and shimmering inside.
"Ah?" Ji Fan's mouth widened in astonishment, unable to conceive how someone could so completely shatter his spell!
It would have been one thing if a restraining spell had scattered his thunder fire or if a specific magical treasure had absorbed it, but what shocked him was that the lamp was something he saw Shi Feiyang create on the spot, formed by his mere hands!
Xuan Shu was also taken aback, thinking to himself that this man was indeed formidable. He would have to exert his full strength today to drive him away, so he waved his hands, reversing the Heavenly Gang and Earthly Sha, turning the sky pitch black as dark evil spread out, and a fierce wind howled, while on the ground, Gang winds surged along the slope.
"Fellow Daoist, let us join forces and see how he deals with this!" Xuan Shu called out to Ji Fan to make their move together.
Shi Feiyang observed that Xuan Shu's mana was very unique, being able to cultivate Heavenly Gang and Earthly Sha to such an extent. It bore many traits of the Mysterious Sect, including tactics from the Emei Sect's 'Nine Heavens Mysterious Scripture', and he used unorthodox methods to continually enhance it, creating a myriad of effects that formed black Gang Sha wind pillars in the air, crushing the cosmos as they smashed towards him.
With his right hand forming a spell, Shi Feiyang first activated the nine-foot-tall Five-Colored Arch at the foot of the mountain, which emitted a dazzling light surrounded by colorful clouds to first suppress the "Earth Gang." Then, he released the Five-Colored Divine Light, colliding with those Gang Sha wind pillars. As they met, a colossal explosion erupted, booming like thousands of thunderclaps, shaking the very sky.
Xuan Shu cast two treasure beads amidst the black wind, one black inside and white outside, the other white inside and black outside, spinning like black holes in the universe. However, instead of absorbing inward, they emitted an intense Gang Sha Qi, generating even more wind pillars that were each a hundred yards tall, standing tall and mighty as they violently smashed down towards Shi Feiyang.
Seeing this, Ji Fan also let out a long howl, flying up while releasing two blue-light Immortal Swords from his back and summoning his most powerful Sky Blue Divine Sand!
His two flying swords, forged from Cold Iron refined over ten million years from the ocean's depths, were of extraordinary quality and possessed many unique functions.
The Sky Blue Divine Sand was even more special, crafted from the essence of the Five Metals collected from the Four Seas extreme regions. The process was incredibly time and effort consuming, often requiring days of searching the broad blue seas to gather only a thumb-sized amount, which he then refined and purified.
Even though Earth Immortals could live eternally, apart from the great cataclysm every 1,300 years, they still faced a calamity every 360 years. Although it was not as severe as the Independent Immortal's four-ninth calamity every 500 years, it was still formidable. Ji Fan refined this Divine Sand to withstand these calamities, spending 103 years just gathering and smelting the materials.
Seventy years after the Divine Sand was completed, he faced a Heavenly Demon calamity, which he comfortably survived with the help of this magical treasure. He treasured it as his life, rarely using it lightly. However, seeing how unimaginably strong Shi Feiyang's Daoist power was, he resorted to releasing this Mountain Treasure!
The total number of Sky Blue Divine Sand was 360 grains, but they could transform into trillions, with endless uses. Once released into the air, they turned into a sky full of blue stars, dazzling and beautiful like the cosmic starry sky. Despite Xuan Shu's fierce Gang Qi Sha Feng being earth-shattering, it couldn't overshadow these blue stars.
Shi Feiyang knew that Ji Fan possessed the Sky Blue Divine Sand, but he hadn't thought it would be very remarkable and hadn't taken it seriously initially, as he hadn't used any magical treasures yet up to this point.
When he saw the sky full of blue stars, he was quite surprised and then used his Wisdom Eye to discern that although there were many star fires, they were all transformations from 360 Mother Sand grains. He immediately laughed, "This treasure and I are fated!"
He then directly shot out the Five-Colored Divine Light from the ten fingers of both hands, intertwining the lights rapidly in the air to form an enormous multicolored net. Each knot of the net held a Thunder Pearl, catching the sky full of Gang Qi Sha Feng and aiming to envelop both Xuan Shu and Ji Fan within it!
Recognizing the danger, Xuan Shu urgently yelled, "This is bad! Fellow Daoist, retreat quickly!" He withdrew the two treasure beads and hurriedly transformed into a black smoke, shooting into the sky.
Ji Fan, secure in the powerful might of his magical treasure and its boundless uses, did not readily comply and kept spurting True Qi. Using all his might, he pressed the Sky Blue Divine Sand downward.
Indeed, the Divine Sand was a tremendously powerful magical treasure. The sky full of blue stars suppressed the Great Five Elements Annihilation Divine Thunder Net, sprawling across the sky and consequently preventing the Thunder Net from rising further, incapable of curling up its corners.
Shi Feiyang praised with a smile, "What a marvelous treasure!"
With a slight flick of his wrist, the Thunder Net immediately exploded, with ten types of Divine Thunder—no fewer than three thousand beads detonating simultaneously. They interacted according to the generating and overcoming processes of the Five Elements, relentlessly dying and birthing: Gold Thunder leapt, Fire Thunder roared, Wood Thunder flashed, and Water Thunder chaotically jumped. The explosion made the sky above Qiao Mountain within a hundred square miles boil, turning it into chaotic turmoil!
The Sky Blue Divine Sand was enveloped within the Five Elements Thunder Fire, blasting wildly around. Ji Fan desperately cast spells to control it, and suddenly, seeing the multicolored Thunder Clouds rising swiftly and sweeping towards him, he dared not resist and hurriedly flew away on his sword_control.
Shi Feiyang sent the Thunder Clouds skyward, splitting them into two groups that chased after Ji Fan and Xuan Shu to explode. The Sky Blue Divine Sand, which had fallen through like it was being sifted, was captured by his released Five-Colored Divine Light. He forcefully absorbed them all, catching them in his palm where they landed as irregularly shaped blue metallic grains, about the size of grains of rice.
As Ji Fan continued to cast spells from the sky above, trying to call back these treasures linked to his life, they trembled and flickered with blue light in Shi Feiyang's hands, wrapped in a layer of Five-Colored Light Qi, unable to escape.
Shi Feiyang said, "I'm not fond of killing by nature. I'll spare you two this time. Consider the Sky Blue Divine Sand as an apology gift. Go back and cultivate, cherish your life. If you dare to come disturbing again, you won't be able to leave!"
Ji Fan was nearly choking on his own blood. He had come to assist, so why was his treasure being used as an apology gift? Why didn't he take those two beads from the Ghost Lady instead?
He had been chased by the Thunder Clouds to a far part of the sky, and only when he saw the Thunder Clouds dissipate did he finally breathe a sigh of relief. Stabilizing his trembling Divine Energy, and having reached over two hundred miles away, he sent a distant voice transmission asking, "What is your relationship with the catastrophic Goddess Deng Bagu?"
"She's my disciple. Why, do you know her?" Shi Feiyang thought that if he really were good friends with Deng Bagu and gave in to apologize, thickening his face to ask for the Divine Sand back, he truly would be in a difficult position to refuse, being that he would then, in essence, be his junior, calling him 'Uncle Master' or something similar…
