The Ancestor of All Demons

Chapter 284: 276 Deer Holding Lingzhi

"The crystal bottle that Shi Feiyang gave to Jiang Shu contained the sealed Tie San Daoist.

That year, when Tie San Daoist was undergoing his tribulations, the Heavenly Tribulation, Demon Tribulation, and Human Tribulation all arrived simultaneously. In the end, his Primordial Spirit was captured by the powerful Dharma King Hagenib and taken to the Western, transformed into a Divine Demon.

Some time ago, when Shi Feiyang was retrieving treasures from the Yuan River, Hagenib released a Demon. Among the four Formless Divine Demons captured by Xiong Man's mother, one was Tie San Daoist, who was recognized and collected by Shi Feiyang.

Shi Feiyang bore no personal grudge against Tie San Daoist. It was entirely Geng Kun who had enmity with him. Shi Feiyang had taken his Iron Umbrella and now upon meeting again, sought to help him achieve liberation.

Coming from a faction of heterodox teachings, Tie San Daoist's Cultivation Technique contained many methods of the Demon Cult. He was radical and dismissive of others, which led him to make several formidable enemies.

He did not engage in indiscriminate killing, nor did he often bully the weak. This time, after being captured by Hagenib, he was tortured repeatedly with powerful spells from the Western Demon Cult. He suffered the agonies of Soul Refinement and gradually lost his true nature, becoming a bloodthirsty demon who knew only slaughter.

But after all, he had cultivated for hundreds of years, and unlike ordinary people who would completely lose themselves after Soul Refinement, the Primordial Spirit of a cultivator like Tie San Daoist was robust, and his will was firm. While ordinary people would have their souls shattered, these types of cultivators could reconvene their fragmented souls in a short period.

Shi Feiyang used Spiritual Medicine and Immortal Energy to cleanse his Primordial Spirit, doing so three times. Tie San Daoist had regained much of his sanity, though he still occasionally became confused.

He handed the crystal bottle to Jiang Shu, 'Take him with you, cleanse his Primordial Spirit with Pure Yang Immortal Qi six more times, then use some Divine Qi One Element Glue on him. Once his Primordial Spirit is refined, he can be sent for Reincarnation.'

Jiang Shu accepted the crystal bottle and also took Red Flower Grandmother's Nascent Soul.

The Bing Ling Shuttle was given to Jiang Shu to temporarily keep for Red Flower Grandmother until she reincarnates and returns to become his disciple, at which time he would award it to her, while the Three Talents Fire Cloud Ring was given to Zhu Changyuan.

Back in the North Sea, Red Flower Grandmother had also killed the Cold Light Daoist.

Cold Light Daoist was from another heterodox path, originally planning to undergo Soldier Disintegration to evade his tribulation. He had earlier left a letter to the Primordial Master of the Kunlun Sect, instructing his disciple Chi Chengzi to seek out the Primordial Master after his own Soldier Disintegration, to be accepted as a disciple.

At that time, he was trapped by Red Flower Grandmother using the Fire Cloud Ring, and, adapting to the situation, dissolved his physical body within the ring. He then pleaded with Red Flower Grandmother to spare his Primordial Spirit a chance for life.

Red Flower Grandmother was indeed cruel then and intended to use the Fire Cloud Ring to refine his Primordial Spirit as well, to utterly destroy his body and soul.

Cold Light Daoist then appealed, 'You and I are both from heterodox paths, facing the same difficulty in the 49th catastrophe of the Daoist, and the Soldier Disintegration is essential to escape the 19th. How can you be sure your today isn't my tomorrow? It's wise to spare others a chance at life, as it might also secure your own future.'

Although Red Flower Grandmother was extreme and ruthless in her methods, she wasn't of the evil path that cultivates treasures through human souls and spirits, and Cold Light Daoist's words struck a chord with her. Her effort to 'bear no grudges' and seek favor with the Emei Sect was also for her own future considerations.

Just as she hesitated about releasing Cold Light Daoist's Primordial Spirit, Geng Peng happened to fly by and desperately attempted a rescue. Cold Light Daoist used another Treasure of the Cave, besides the Star Absorption, to blast a gap in the Fire Cloud Ring and fled through it. Red Flower Grandmother did not try very hard to stop him.

Shi Feiyang speculated that afterwards, Cold Light Daoist's Primordial Spirit had secretly cultivated for many years underneath the glaciers of the North Sea Bottom and later reincarnated, already reborn as a human.

In the future, when Red Flower Grandmother is reborn under Jiang Shu and meets Chi Chengzi, who has since joined the Kunlun Sect, there will come the time for her reunion with Cold Light Daoist, and thus another story will unfold.

Having managed all this, they descended to the mountain.

Shi Feiyang had no desire for the items in Red Flower Grandmother's cave and had them all packed up for Jiang Shu to take back to Golden Whip Cliff, except he only kept two stalks of Black Wind Grass from the pond, transplanting the rest to take back to Big Bear Ridge.

It wasn't that he was stingy and unwilling to give them to Jiang Shu, but Black Wind Grass had unique growth requirements: the environment needed to be moist and foggy, without frequent sunlight, and required the Miasma of Poison Stones, which the environment of Golden Whip Cliff was unsuitable for.

Shi Feiyang left two stalks in their original place and took the rest back to Bitter Bamboo Temple, planning to have Bai Guanhong and Ganoderma Immortal research them—either to simulate their growth environment through spells or find other ways to help them grow.

Having completed all this, they parted ways, Shi Feiyang returning to Big Bear Ridge, and Jiang Shu to Golden Whip Cliff.

Before leaving, Shi Feiyang told Jiang Shu, 'First deal with these new disciples you've acquired, nourish those who need their souls nourished, and reincarnate those who need reincarnation. After a few years of training, I'll get you another batch.'

Jiang Shu laughed heartily, 'Just these are enough to keep me occupied and worried. It would be even more burdensome if they aren't sensible, possibly even threatening the survival of the Qingcheng Sect.'

'Who made you rashly vow in front of your master in the first place! Let's gather enough disciples first, then I'll take you out to accumulate merits through cultivation.'

Jiang Shu's original wish had been to travel the world with him, righting wrongs and aiding the needy. He nodded repeatedly upon hearing this.

After bidding farewell to Jiang Shu, Shi Feiyang took Zhu Changyuan and flew back to Bitter Bamboo Temple at Big Bear Ridge.

The Three Talents Fire Cloud Ring from Red Flower Grandmother was very powerful. Shi Feiyang taught Zhu Changyuan how to use it and urged him to refine it diligently. He himself then began to close off and cultivate the 'He Sha Book of Marvels.'

Meanwhile, Shi Sheng, during a break from his cultivation, was playing by the Yuan River."

At that time, it was early morning, and the sun had not fully risen. A thin mist lingered over the river surface.

He cast a spell to turn water into bricks and walls, constructing a magnificent palace on the surging river surface, with pavilions and towers so lifelike that even the patterns on the balustrades were clear. At first glance, one might think it was carved from a massive crystal.

He was enjoying himself when he suddenly saw a thin, seven-colored halo emanating from the woods across the river.

The colorful light was extremely thin and weak, and with the mist acting as a barrier, it was nearly impossible to see unless one had extraordinary vision.

Shi Sheng thought there might be some treasure emerging, so he crossed the river on his Flying Sword to check.

Inside the dense woods on the opposite shore, he saw a small white deer, carrying a Lingzhi in its mouth, joyously running and playing.

Upon seeing Shi Sheng, the deer got frightened and immediately started running deeper into the dense woods.

Seeing this, Shi Sheng immediately followed without using his Flying Sword to intercept, fearing he might hurt this magical and adorable auspicious beast. Instead, he used a spell to block the deer's path ahead.

The deer crashed headfirst into an invisible barrier, and it seemed as if invisible forces from all around compressed and trapped it, making it helpless to move any further.

"Little one, don't be afraid. I won't hurt you," Shi Sheng landed in front of the white deer and gently touched its head and body.

The deer, unable to escape, trembled and stared at him, shivering as if electrified by his touch.

Shi Sheng continuously comforted it, "Don't worry, I won't harm you. Let me see this Lingzhi of yours."

He floated slightly above the ground, hovering close to the Lingzhi to inspect it, and chuckled, "This is just a common Purple Lingzhi, nothing special. We have better ones at home. If you come home with me, I'll get you a Lingzhi every day to eat, how does that sound?"

The little deer was still scared, trembling so much that it collapsed.

Shi Sheng squatted there, gently stroking and reassuring it, "Running around in the mountains like this is not safe. Around the Yun Gui region, there are many evil demons, and if they find you, they'll definitely eat you. Besides them, there are also poisonous snakes and fierce beasts, and even spiritual demons that could consume you.

It would be better if you come with me. We have various kinds of exotic creatures, such as meaty Ganodermas running around, large Zhi Ma, and even Taiyin Essence transformed into spiritual Rhinoceros…"

He gestured with his hands, describing the benefits of the Bitter Bamboo Temple up to the Outer Heaven Divine Mountain, trying to convince the white deer to come with him.

The little deer merely looked at him with moist eyes, still trembling, unmoving no matter what he said.

Shi Sheng spent a long time talking, but the deer was unwilling to accompany him. Seeing the sun rising in the east, he could only sigh and give up, "It is already the hour of mao; I have to go for my morning cultivation. If you don't want to come with me, so be it. But remember, the woods are full of dangers. Should you find yourself in trouble, go to the Bitter Bamboo Temple on the mountain ridge nearby. Any of my fellow disciples there will help you."

He looked at the Yuan River, not just with its rapid undercurrents but also bordered by steep terrain on both sides, making the water seem to rush through a canyon.

Luckily, Shi Feiyang had previously built a Rainbow Bridge using Five-Colored Divine Sand to fetch a treasure from a dangling boat, which, after many days, still spanned from south to north.

Shi Sheng then used a spell to bring the little deer to the bridge and told it, "If you encounter any danger, just run across this bridge. It's only a ten-mile journey to Big Bear Ridge, and once you reach the mountain ridge, you'll be safe. No matter what kind of evil demons or poisonous beasts, they can't run wild there."

After speaking, he lifted the prohibition spell. The deer, as if mad, darted off at top speed into the woods, diving into the densest part before cautiously looking back at him.

Shi Sheng watched the little deer and sighed helplessly, flying back to the temple on his sword to proceed with his morning cultivation exercises.

Later, he shared this incident with Lin Han and others.

Lin Han said, "If it doesn't want to rely on us, then let it be. It's not possible for every spiritual being to be fated with us."

Wu Longzi then said, "Little Shi Sheng, if you like that deer, just capture it outright, why bother with whether it wants to or not? If you find it troublesome, I'll go capture it for you, and I'll also craft a leash to tie it up, making it obey your commands, never disobeying."

Shi Sheng shook his head, "If I wanted to capture it, I would have already done so, but what would be the fun in that?"

He held the Ganoderma Immortal in his arms like a porcelain doll, stroking its head while it clung to his neck and kissed his cheek.

In the following half month, he went to the riverside to play every day but never saw the white deer again. After searching the woods on both banks for some time, there was still no sign of it.

Just when he had completely lost hope and thought he would never see the white deer again, on that day, the deer limped to the foot of Big Bear Ridge.

Wu Longzi was the first to spot it, reaching out from mid-air, scooping up the deer, and capturing it to the temple on the ridge.

Everyone saw that a Black Dog Nail was deeply embedded in the deer's hind, continuously emitting thick black smoke as it burned.
