The Ancestor of All Demons

Chapter 229: 226 Surrender

Shi Feiyang ordered everyone to clean up the battlefield and gather all the people who had been captured to Buddha Light Mountain, one by one for identification.

Among them were men and women, the eldest in their twenties, the youngest in their teens. Some were captured by the Demon Monks to be used in spell practice, some for pleasure, and others as servants. In total, there were over two hundred people.

Everyone worked together to take care of those who were sick or injured with Spiritual Medicine, breaking the curses on those who were possessed by evil with Immortal Law. Then they asked for their names and places of origin and sent them back home one by one.

There was a large amount of gold, silver, gemstones, and other valuables inside the Demon Palace. Shi Feiyang let them all be collected together. With heaps of gemstones and mountains of gold and silver, he told everyone to take what they liked. The Sword Immortals all refrained, not wanting these mundane human world possessions. Shi Feiyang then generously distributed them to those about to be sent home.

These people had been captured by the Demon Monks from various parts of the world and brought to the Rotary Temple, and many had been frightened during their ordeal. Some had also suffered greatly, expecting their lives to be over, yet unexpectedly they were rescued and even received a large stash of gold and silver treasures. Knowing it was the Immortals who had slain the Evil Demon, all were grateful and thanked the Immortals for their compassionate salvation.

Some who were learned and enlightened pleaded on their knees to be taken in, begging to follow the Immortals as boys and girls to guard the caves.

Shi Feiyang had no intention of accepting disciples, so he asked Jiang Shu and Ling Hun, who were preparing to establish their own teachings, if they wanted them, but they both shook their heads.

Huan Yu was the first to suggest leaving.

He had originally been unyielding and resentful towards Shi Feiyang. Learning about his feud with the Emei Sect only intensified his aversion. First, he was killed in the Eastern Demon Formation, his Primordial Spirit was even captured by the Divine Demon; it was Shi Feiyang who defeated the Demon and rescued him. Later, he was trapped in the lamp by the Old Demon One Light, initially saved by Huo Wuhai and Zhu Changyuan with a treasure, and in the end, it was still Shi Feiyang who got him out.

Feeling somewhat disheartened and ashamed, Huan Yu had no face to stay any longer and was the first to say goodbye.

Seeing him leave, Su Xianxiang also followed suit.

Zhao Guangdou, who had been seized by the Old Demon One Light and used to launch the Heavenly Demon Disintegration Great Technique, was saved by Ling Hun. He had long decided to disciple himself to him. Secretly discussing with Liu Quan, who on the other hand wanted to disciple himself to Shi Feiyang.

The two approached Shi Feiyang and Ling Hun, who were in conversation in the great hall, and knelt before them, begging to be taken in as disciples.

Shi Feiyang said to Ling Hun, "As a Dao friend who is about to establish a sect, you can't do without a few disciples. Although these two are from the Demon Cult, they have good natures. Having gone through this ordeal, they have also passed a significant trial in their journey on the Dao. In the future, their path will be much smoother, so why not take them both in?"

In the original story, both were disciples of Ling Hun and shared a destiny as master and disciple. Ling Hun looked at Liu Quan with neither affirming nor denying.

Shi Feiyang said to Liu Quan, "You and I do not share the fate of master and disciple. I will have to return to Outer Heaven Divine Mountain in the future. Master Ling is powerful in mana and is preparing to blaze a new trail in Central Earth by establishing his own house. It is a great fortune for you to enter under his sect. As long as you diligently cultivate, becoming a Heavenly Immortal is within reach."

Seeing that Shi Feiyang would not accept him, Liu Quan had no choice but to plead with Ling Hun again, and this time Ling Hun nodded in agreement.

So, under the witness of Shi Feiyang, the two discipleshipped themselves to Ling Hun.

Ling Hun had come to seek Shi Feiyang to exchange for Guang Chengzi's Heavenly Book. He had long known that the two elders of Song Mountain had one volume of Guang Chengzi's Heavenly Book, but only the middle one, which the elders could not decipher. It was the True Master Changmei who had translated nearly half of it when he was still around. Ling Hun had now obtained the upper volume and figured out that the lower volume was in Shi Feiyang's possession, not expecting that Shi Feiyang also had the middle volume.

Shi Feiyang did not hide it and brought out the two volumes of the Heavenly Book.

The path of Immortal cultivation mainly depends on the individual; Daoist books only serve to guide and assist. With the same Nine Heavens Mysterious Scripture, Qi Shuming was able to cultivate for ascension, while another could fall into the Evil Path, and a third could end up with cultivation inferior even to their juniors.

Seeing the two volumes of the Heavenly Book brought out by Shi Feiyang, Ling Hun's head buzzed, not out of joy for obtaining the Daoist books, but suddenly realizing the gap between himself and Shi Feiyang!

As he obtained the upper volume of the book, he was secretly delighted and plotted how to exchange it with Shi Feiyang. But Shi Feiyang just directly brought out the two volumes, generously offering them for him to see.

The breadth of mind and generosity made him feel somewhat ashamed!

Finally, Ling Hun understood why Shi Feiyang's cultivation progressed so swiftly and recognized the difference between the orthodox and unorthodox practices.

The Mysterious Sect's orthodoxy and the side doors' heterodoxy refer not only to cultivation techniques but also to the nature of the individual, with the latter being even more critical.

People with the temperament of side doors, even if they cultivate righteous skills, cannot benefit. They are unable to comprehend many great truths. If they forcefully cultivate, they will encounter numerous frustrations, naturally ending up diverted into the side paths.

However, those with the temperament for orthodoxy, even if they cultivate Demonic Path Skills, can remain cautious and unblemished despite emerging from the mire; with just a bit of opportunity, they can be guided onto the Righteous Path.

This realization deepened Ling Hun's understanding of the Dao. The upper volume of Guang Chengzi's Heavenly Book, which focuses on the Dao, posed challenges in understanding, and some parts he did understand, he couldn't accept. At this moment, he grasped much more and accepted even more.

He couldn't help but exclaim in admiration, "Dao friend, you saved my life before, and now you lead me from the side door to the Righteous Path, truly a good teacher and helpful friend! Why should I establish my own sect and teachings when I can directly join under your guidance?"

Shi Feiyang had not intentionally guided him; he had merely shown him the two scrolls of the Heavenly Book because of his own nature, and it was an unexpected joy when the other achieved enlightenment in one go.

The three scrolls of the Heavenly Book, the lower scroll discussed techniques, the middle scroll discussed spells, and the upper scroll discussed Dao, all written in the Ancient Tadpole Script. Only the upper scroll contained the Yellow Emperor's translations, coupled with the Magical Treasure of the Nine-Character True Words.

Those Nine-character True Words were the Yellow Emperor's condensed summary of Guang Chengzi's Daoist Techniques, enabling quick use of many of Guang Chengzi's spells and arrays, among others, and direct use of all of Guang Chengzi's magical treasures, including the Nine Heavens Yuan Yang Ruler and the Five Clouds Separation and Union.

Shi Feiyang and Zhu Zaiyu searched for the origins of Huaxia's Daoist heritage, translating the Tadpole Script in the two scrolls with a broader vision and higher understanding, also referencing the Classic of Mountains and Seas for cross-translation. In fact, what they obtained far exceeded the content of the two scrolls themselves.

Now with the upper scroll of the Heavenly Book, cross-referencing their translations with the Yellow Emperor's translations, over ninety percent matched up, although there were some slight divergences in meaning.

The meanings of words used by the Yellow Emperor had greatly shifted compared to modern times. The Yellow Emperor had translated from Tadpole Script to ancient text, and the meanings could not be perfectly converted, resulting in further discrepancies when translated into contemporary language.

Despite these discrepancies, they reflected different widths, breadths, and heights of understanding of the Dao, rather than being a matter of right or wrong.

Shi Feiyang, having somewhat of a collecting habit, asked Ling Hun for the upper scroll of the Heavenly Book, which he readily agreed to give up.

What mattered most about a book was the content it carried, much like how a medicine recipe itself cannot cure ailments, but the ingredients it contains can.

And so, Ling Hun made complete copies of the three volumes of the Heavenly Book for personal collection, while the original copies all went into Shi Feiyang's hands.

It took them almost half a month to send back all the mortals they had rescued to their homes. Aside from the substantial amount of gold, silver, and jewels, they also obtained many Precepts Blades, Golden Wheels, treasure pestles, and Bowls among other Magical Treasures. Some had been shattered and ruined in battle, but about sixty to seventy remained intact, although their quality varied greatly.

Shi Feiyang allowed everyone to choose at their discretion: "Although refined using the Demonic Path methods, their quality is quite good; you can take them back for your teachers to advise you on re-cultivating them."

Everyone was reserved and unwilling to take any, but with a wave of his hand, Shi Feiyang divided the treasures into four unequal piles: one for the Wudang Sect, one for the Kunlun Sect, one for Jiang Shu, and one for Liu Quan and Zhao Guangdou.

The latter three all demurred. Shi Feiyang first said to Jiang Shu, "You aim to become a grandmaster and expand your sect in the future. How can you do so without some Magical Treasures? Take them."

He then said to Ling Hun, "If you want to start your own sect, you cannot go empty-handed. You still need some things for your disciples."

Ling Hun then had Liu Quan and Zhao Guangdou take them.

With matters concluded, Yu Xiao and Zhang Jinwen were the first to bid farewell, taking their junior brothers and sisters from their sects and departing. Ling Hun stayed for more than a month, exchanging Daoist Techniques with Shi Feiyang. Having cultivated for hundreds of years and possessing profound knowledge and powerful mana, both benefited from the interaction. Afterwards, he too left with his two disciples.

Shi Feiyang, however, did not leave; instead, he settled down in the Rotary Temple with his disciples for the time being.

He had acquired many new things this time and needed to properly digest them, especially the three volumes of Guang Chengzi's Heavenly Book. Now that he had the complete set of Dao, Technique, and Spell, it was time to integrate and contemplate them thoroughly.

Xiong Man, Deng Bagu, and Huo Wuhai, his three major disciples, along with Jiang Shu and Zhu Changyuan, were all still with him. Shi Feiyang provided guidance on Daoist Techniques based on their different conditions at any time.

In addition to cultivation, there was also the refinement of treasures.

Shi Feiyang had captured over a hundred thousand demons; he had already obtained quite a few from the One Light Monk and, adding those from the Flower Evil Divine Gang's original stock, the total number had already surpassed two hundred thousand!

Most of them were originally ordinary people who had suffered at the hands of demons, tormented to death by Evil Skills, and turned into demons. It wasn't difficult to save them now, but each held endless grievances, filled with Evil Qi, bound to bring calamity to the human world if released. Even if they were sent for reincarnation, they were likely to become harmful evildoers in future lives, with their resentment so deep it couldn't be eradicated over several lifetimes.

For now, they could only be temporarily suppressed within the Zhou Tianyu Light Disc. Fortunately, with this nuclear-level Magical Treasure at his disposal, these vengeful Demon Souls, which couldn't be subdued or converted, wouldn't drag him into disaster.

His goal was to refine One Light Master and his four Divine Demon Incarnations into a Magical Treasure.

One Light Master had been continuously refined by the Purple and Blue Douluo Fire, and after forty-nine days, he would be reduced to ashes. The Old Demon had previously used Demon Fire to refine others, but now he was being burnt by Immortal Flame, enduring agony every moment, as if a person were being burned by a Big Fire yet could not die, just incessantly burning.

For an Old Demon who had lived for a thousand years and experienced all types of pain, mere burning, even for ten thousand years, could not bring him to his knees. Mainly because he felt he had reached the end of his life!

Whether human or demon, at the brink of death, everyone faces great terror!

This Old Demon was no exception, and as the forty-nine days drew closer, he started to fear, like a vicious criminal who had brutally killed many innocents, heartless and fearless when killing, yet trembling and soiling himself when facing his own execution by firing squad.

He was afraid and, ultimately, on the forty-eighth day, he relented to Shi Feiyang's terms, expressing a willingness to acknowledge Shi Feiyang as his master, to serve as a slave and servant under him for a thousand years, to be driven at will.

Shi Feiyang, who had been discussing Daoist Techniques with Ling Hun at the time, paid him no attention, merely forbidding the Purple and Blue Douluo Fire from continuing the refinement. Only after others had left and tranquility returned did he decide to refine this Old Demon into a Magical Treasure.
