Moon Island is a large volcano looming over the East Sea, where Master Lianshan, with his Supreme Power, delved into the volcano's mouth. There he established a cave dwelling, which later became a site of his final enlightenment. When his last tribulation came, countless demons attacked, and, facing pressures both inside and out, his Dao Level was destroyed, nearly obliterating him both body and soul.
The volcano, located at the junction of the northeast seas, is normally cloaked with dark clouds covering the entire sea area, turbulent waves sweep the sky, and black frost surges. Icebergs drifting from the north brush past, occasionally blown by the cold wind and smash into each other at high speeds, causing earth-shattering explosive sounds as ice cracks and mountains crumble.
Every fifty-two years, this volcano erupts, sending flames shooting into the sky and magma flowing chaotically, presenting a completely different scene.
In the cave dwelling at the base of the volcano, Master Lianshan left many items. Before his demise, he laid down an Immortal Law restriction. No matter the sector or faction, orthodox or otherwise, whoever could enter the treasure vault was deemed destined and could take one item—be it a Magical Treasure, an Immortal Pill, or Daoist books, but only one item each time.
Jin Xunu was an exception due to a special bond with Master Lianshan in a past life. The Taiyin Qingning Fan, originally concealed and hanging on the wall, was invisible to others but appeared to him and was taken by him. After he reincarnated and transformed into human form, he followed the two elders of Song Mountain on their second journey there. The elders gave him almost all the gathered Magical Treasures.
There were many Magical Treasures in the vault; the first four were orthodox Mysterious Sect treasures, while the remainder were considered lesser treasures, which the Song Mountain elders disregarded. Knowing the Five Clouds Jade was not destined for them, they sought the Taiyin Qingning Fan but didn't find it, only managed to take half of the Dragon Sparrow Ring, while the Xuan Guang Ruler they also intended to take was missed in the rush and ended up mixed with the lesser treasures, all taken back to Purple Cloud Palace by Jin Xunu.
For those from outside the orthodox circles, entering the vault was only possible during the opening of the seas after the volcano erupted, utilizing Magical Treasures capable of resisting the Earth Fire magma. During sealed times, entry was impossible.
Now was not the period for opening the seas. When Shi Feiyang arrived, the island was covered with a thick layer of ice, with snow on top, essentially making it an ordinary extinct volcanic island.
Shi Feiyang, along with Lin Han and Xiong Man's mother, stood atop the icy summit. He briefly explained the origin of Moon Island's Lianshan Treasure Vault and advised them, "Now is not the period for opening the seas. Since your Dao Level is insufficient, do not attempt to go down. Wait here.
But heed this: regardless of who comes and speaks to you, do not respond. No matter what they say, even a single reply could lead to numerous complications and grievances. One misstep and you may face calamity. Remember this well."
The two disciples quickly acknowledged, ensuring they would remember.
After explaining everything, Shi Feiyang summoned the Zhou Tianyu Mixed Treasure Umbrella. The umbrella opened and flew into the sky, spinning as the Circulation God Talisman on it emitted a brilliant light, covering a hundred-mile radius. With a gesture from Shi Feiyang and a mild shout, an immense sound echoed as layers of thick ice and snow were forcibly extracted from the ground, lifting with much frozen soil and shattered rocks, and effortlessly peeled away.
Shi Feiyang tossed these icy layers into the sea north of Moon Island, cast a spell to fix them amid the currents, preventing them from being washed away, then exhaled a Primordial Qi and pointed; the layers of ice morphed into a volcano identical to Moon Island. After that, with a wave of his hand, the actual Moon Island disappeared.
With this arrangement complete, Shi Feiyang recalled the Mixed Treasure Umbrella, held it in his hand, and entered the mouth of the volcano.
If it were the season for opening the seas, natural volcanic eruptions would release the Earth Fire magma, and the Immortal Array wouldn't trigger easily. Anyone with Magical Treasure resistant to Earth Fire and knowledge of fire avoidance could descend.
But now, with misplaced timing and chaotic order, the Earth Extreme True Fire continued to accumulate below, controlled by the Immortal Array. If someone ventured down, it would instantly spout True Fire—a bluish flame, several times hotter than magma. Even the Flying Sword of an ordinary Sword Immortal would melt into molten iron upon slightest contact. Ordinary Magical Treasures meant to resist flame would not endure it.
Shi Feiyang held the Protective Dharma Treasure umbrella and slowly turned it downward, releasing copious amounts of Mysterious Frost True Water to protect his entire body as he forcefully cut through the flames with the Three Yangs One Qi Sword, reaching the bottom of the volcano.
Here, there was a horizontal cave entrance guarded by two stone sculptures, each holding a Stone Sword. If they pointed the swords, numerous five-pointed Mars would shoot forth, scorching anyone approaching without the need for direct contact. Even through Protective Dharma Treasures, it could reduce a person to ashes from the heat.
Furthermore, should a powerful Magical Treasure be used to blast and defend, causing the Mars to splatter across the surrounding walls, it would ignite the core of Earth Fire, potentially causing the volcano to explode immediately, releasing simultaneous earthquakes and tsunamis. Moon Island would sink along with it, burying everything in the cave dwelling never to re-emerge.
The only way to correctly dissolve this sequential Acquired Five Elements Absolute Annihilation True Fire was with the Taiyin Qingning Fan.
The last time the Song Mountain elders came, using Jin Xunu's Taiyin Qingning Fan, they smashed through the fire and blasted the stone guardians in half at the waist. However, after many years, the stone sculptures had restored themselves, guarding the place once again.
This time, Shi Feiyang hadn't brought Jin Xunu or the treasured fan. Instead, he took out the Zhou Tianyu Light Disc, which, spinning at high speed, eventually pointed forward with the shortest disc, ejecting Chaotic Primordial Qi.
This Chaotic Primordial Qi, refined through his casting, had unique properties. Once ejected, the Five Elements Absolute Annihilation True Fire was drawn to it, gathering along the gray misty line, crackling like firecrackers during a festival, bursting with multicolored lights and dazzling brilliance as it trailed along the line towards Shi Feiyang.
With a gesture from his right hand, Shi Feiyang directed the Three Yangs One Qi Sword to slice the two stone sculptures horizontally into several sections.
After the stone men had "died," the Five Elements True Fire also ceased immediately.
Shi Feiyang was rather fond of these two stone men, and he left them here to "revive" in thirty years. He took out the Heavenly Book Jade Box and put the shattered stone men inside, planning to study them more later.
Having broken through the cave's guardians, he cast a spell to open the cave door and went in.
Meanwhile, Lin Han and Xiong Man, who were waiting on the mountain top, were both taciturn individuals. Shi Feiyang had told them not to talk to strangers, so each of them took a cushion from their merfolk-silk Qiankun Bags and sat cross-legged on the icy, snowy ground, quietly cultivating.
Although this place was secluded, travelers occasionally passed by. The so-called vicinity could mean hundreds or even thousands of miles. Many skilled people could see scenes from thousands of miles away and would surely come to investigate if they noticed the ice cap being removed and Earth Fire erupting.
Prior to that, Shi Feiyang had used magic to create an ice cap substitute and concealed the volcano's body, thus, invisibly avoiding much trouble.
But there was a female immortal from the small Penglai of West Sea Island named Wei Yaozhi.
She had newly refined a Magical Treasure today named the Taibai Divine Needle, which, used in conjunction with a spell from her sect, could automatically fly out and search for invisible enemies or objects.
Her name contained the character for 'Zhi,' and she especially loved to collect various types of Lingzhi. If she encountered them, she would certainly transplant them back to her island, and she had already collected many varieties. That day, having newly refined her treasure, she went to the North Sea to search for Lingzhi. Some spirit herbs could turn invisible or be concealed by cultivators, yet her Taibai Divine Needle could detect them.
She was playing with the Taibai Divine Needle on the road, when suddenly, the needle turned on its own toward the east. Initially, Wei Yaozhi thought it had detected something on the fake island formed from ice, exclaiming, "What kind of Lingzhi could grow in such a barren land of ice and snow!"
Just as she was about to cast a spell to recall the needle, it flew toward the real Moon Island instead. Wei Yaozhi was baffled; between the sky and sea there was nothing but emptiness, and then she realized that possibly an immortal had used magic to become invisible and something valuable was surely hidden below. Thus, joy crossed her features as she followed it there.
Lin Han and Xiong Man were in the midst of meditating with their eyes closed and were disturbed by her arrival. They saw a woman dressed in palace robes, adorned with cloud robes and sunset skirts, radiant with jewels, and exceptionally beautiful, presenting as if a goddess drawn in a painting, flying directly towards them. A streak of fine silver light in front of her targeted Lin Han directly, but just as it approached closely, it suddenly halted.
Upon landing on the island, Wei Yaozhi stepped onto solid ground, but could still not see the true scenery around her; the entire Moon Island remained hidden, and naturally, Lin Han and Xiong Man were also concealed with the island.
Wei Yaozhi felt that she was standing on a peak thousands of feet above the sea, and there was an invisible person ahead. She shouted, "Who are you? Show yourself immediately, or I won't be polite!"
Lin Han had been instructed by Shi Feiyang earlier and just sat there steadily, not responding.
Wei Yaozhi continued, "I have no quarrel or grievance with you, nor do I intend to harm you. I just came here, saw you lurking, and became curious. Show yourself, tell me who you are, where you're from, and what you are doing here. Not only will I not harm you, I might even be able to help you."
Lin Han remained silent.
Wei Yaozhi grew angry, "Do you know that my master is the widely renowned Goddess Yu Xiangzhu of Three Xiang, and my great-master is Yu Wa, the fairy of the small Penglai of West Sea Island? In this East Sea, no one dares to defy my great-master and master. You sneak here and hide, and I don't know what you're up to, so naturally, I have to enquire.
Show yourself immediately and explain. If it's harmless to everyone, then fine, otherwise, I really have to take action. You don't know, my divine needle was refined with the help of my great-master; it can be controlled by the mind, become visible or invisible at will, and its power is immense. Once activated, you will either die or get injured, and by then, it will be too late for regrets!"
After waiting momentarily without any response, Wei Yaozhi could no longer endure and launched the Taibai Divine Needle toward the invisible person in front.
The white light from the Divine Needle shot forward about a yard when suddenly, a five-colored light ring, the size of a bowl, appeared out of nowhere around the white light, and abruptly contracted inwards, tightening.
Wei Yaozhi sneered to herself: What kind of Magical Treasure do you dare to flaunt, thinking it can counter my Taibai Divine Needle? This time I must teach you a lesson!
She pinched her fingers in a spell-casting gesture, urging the needle to pierce through the light ring with force, but unexpectedly, the light ring swiftly shrunk to the size of a dragon's eye and then, along with the needle's gleam, disappeared altogether.
Wei Yaozhi was taken aback, hurriedly continuing to manipulate the spell, thinking that her opponent must have some trick to take the needle, and this was precisely the chance to let her needle act on the opponent's hand to catch them off guard. However, no matter how she cast the spell, the needle had no response.
Furious and anxious, Wei Yaozhi thought of the Magical Treasure that her great-master Yu Wa had personally helped her refine. It was her first time taking it out, and before she could even warm it up, it had been snatched away!
She was so angry that she directly released her Flying Sword: "Who exactly are you? Since you do not regard my sect highly, at least leave your name. We will meet again someday!"
