The Ancestor of All Demons

Chapter 177: 176 Demon God Scripture

Shi Feiyang had gone to such lengths to meet the Divine Demon through Gui Wu and the "Demon God Scripture" with one purpose in mind, "I have always practiced the Mysterious Sect Immortal Technique, and have refined no fewer than ten Daoist books. Years ago, I obtained a Demon Path Scripture and tried practicing the spells within it. I found them profoundly intriguing, but there were no superior cultivation techniques in it. Years ago, I heard that the Island Master of Wuyu Island possessed a copy of the Demon God Scripture, extremely powerful, and I longed for it. Now, I have specifically borrowed another's body to meet with you, my fellow Daoist. I wonder, could I practice this scripture?"

Ersheng Fan listened in disbelief, "Such good fortune exists?"

In his lifetime, he was a master of the Demon Path, having refined his Primordial Spirit into his Lifebound Divine Demon. He could fly, traverse lands, manipulate minds, and was nearly omnipotent. Though he seldom set foot in Central Earth, he roamed overseas unbeaten by any foes.

But at his proudest moment, the previous owner of the scripture captured his Primordial Spirit within the book, causing him to lose his innate body. This scripture became the prison for his body for a millennium!

When he first obtained this Demon Scripture, he knew it was covertly controlled by a Demon, and thus he was cautious and hesitant to practice it.

However, he faced a situation similar to the Wuling Pearl. Back then, there was a formidable monk within Buddhism who was originally a Daoist but later converted to Buddhism. During the reign of Emperor Liang Wu, when Dharma Ancestor crossed to the East, he became a disciple under him with the religious name "Resider One." His junior fellow disciple who obtained the Nanming Leaving Fire Sword was Zen Master Guiyi.

This Resider One Zen Master, having mastered the teachings of both Buddhism and Daoism, cultivated his mana to surpass the heavens. He made a grand vow before Buddha to exterminate all evil demons in the world, inventing many Demon-suppressing Great Techniques and compiled a secret manual called "Demonic Destruction Treasure Scroll," containing spells each more formidable than the last, to a monstrous degree.

The Big Monk, relying on his divine skills, swept through the hordes of demons. When many leaders from the Demon Cult joined forces to attack him, he sent them all fleeing in disarray, many destroyed on the spot. For this reason, he was called "Absolute Venerable."

Ersheng Fan had also once thought of going to Central Earth to establish a sect but encountered this Absolute Venerable and was almost killed on the spot.

He barely escaped with his life, and the Absolute Venerable furiously declared that once he had cleansed Central Earth of evil demons, he would move on to clear the overseas areas, starting from the East Sea, through the South Sea and West Sea, to the North Sea, vowing to kill every demon and leave none behind, ensuring their bodies and souls were destroyed!

As a well-known figure within the Demon Cult, Ersheng Fan knew he was definitely on the Absolute Venerable's list and that the enemy would eventually come for him. If he didn't practice, he would undoubtedly be destroyed; practicing offered him a fighting chance.

He steeled himself and practiced the Demon Scripture, knowing it was subtly controlled by a Divine Demon. He took precautionary measures beforehand, tactfully dealing with the Divine Demon without letting it control his Primordial Spirit.

The Divine Demon, aware of his intentions, never attempted to restrict him but instead considered his interests in every way, acting like a hidden, selfless "old grandfather" within the books.

Not only did the Divine Demon patiently guide him, teaching him to master the Supreme Demon Technique, but it also taught him how to deal with the Absolute Venerable.

Although the Absolute Venerable was incredibly powerful and strong, his slaughtering of many from the Heterodox Sect had accumulated a great deal of negative karma, leading to the emergence of more and more evil demons—the more he killed, the more they appeared!

The Big Monk planned to cleanse the demons in Central Earth first before moving to the overseas regions. However, he couldn't even finish with Central Earth as the demons' numbers only grew, their influence increasingly vast. Though none could defeat him, the methods of the Demon Path developed rapidly, murdering and capturing souls, absorbing grievances, and in decades, growing into Great Demons.

The Absolute Venerable also had many disciples who studied the "Demonic Destruction Treasure Scroll" and consecutively mastered the Demon-suppressing Great Technique, making grand vows with their master and beginning to sweep through the hordes of demons.

However, though their mana was extremely strong, their spiritual cultivation was not perfect. In the Bodhisattva's practice of the six paramitas—meditation, morality, generosity, wisdom, diligence, and patience—they were unqualified, with too little accumulated merit, providing opportunities for the Demon Path.

Ersheng Fan, exploiting their competitive, victorious, and arrogant dispositions, led them one by one into the Demon Path, altering their natures. They ended up creating endless troubles by slaughtering demons, eventually cursing and renouncing Buddhism, turning against their own path, and even collectively attacking the Absolute Venerable.

These individuals were also high-ranking Buddhist monks who had practiced Buddhism for many years and possessed strong mana. The Absolute Venerable was almost fatally ambushed by them, and it eventually took him a great deal of effort and heart power to awaken them. They repented massively, self-immolating in their grief.

At that moment, the Absolute Venerable finally realized that what he had done was not the true Buddhist Law. He abandoned his grand vow to cleanse the world of demons and sealed the "Demonic Destruction Treasure Scroll," spending the next five hundred years guiding his disciples' reincarnated selves back to Buddhism, ultimately ascending with them to the Western Paradise.

In this confrontation with the Absolute Venerable, Ersheng Fan emerged victorious, and convinced there was no one in the world who could control him, he let his guard down. The demon within the scripture took advantage of him and captured his Primordial Spirit, revealing the details of the Demon Scripture before ascending away.

Ersheng Fan was trapped within the Demon Scripture, initially hoping to train a successor as his predecessor had, but he suffered repeated setbacks—either falling into deviation himself or being massacred by the Orthodox Sect, unable to grow. He also foresaw that he was heavily entangled in karma with the Absolute Venerable, and that someday two young girls who practiced the "Demonic Destruction Treasure Scroll" would destroy the Demon Scripture, and he would be obliterated along with it.

This was practically his final calamity!

Ersheng Fan then hastened to have people refine the most formidable Heavenly Stars Secret Demon Divine Shuttle from within the scripture, relying on it to overcome his last tribulation. But this treasure also proved to be under heavenly influence; the process was very unsuccessful, and those who tried to refine it often met untimely deaths.

Watching the millennium period dwindle to a mere thirty-plus years, he grew anxious and forced the three with the spiritual pearl to gather resources day and night to refine the Divine Shuttle.

Suddenly, someone like Shi Feiyang offered himself up to cultivate his Magic, which was without a doubt like mana from heaven, falling right into his lap!

Like the "Demon God Scripture," a Demon Path secret manual, those high-ranking individuals from Orthodox Sects, regardless of Buddhism or Daoism, would move to destroy it.

Even masters within the Demon Cult who cultivated the Demon Scripture guarded it fiercely, much like he had guarded against a predecessor back in the day. If he hadn't gotten careless and lost focus at the end, he wouldn't have fallen for the opponent's ruse.

Thus, the only ones he could attract and manipulate were second-tier characters like those with the spiritual pearl. Once he lured them in, he could use the spells in the scriptures to develop them into first-tier characters, but that was the extent of it.

He dearly wished for a high monk from Buddhism or an Immortal from the Daoist Sect, at least an Earth Immortal, to cultivate his Demon Scripture for his use. This would benefit him tremendously, whether for refining the Secret Demon Divine Shuttle or for future transcendence tribulation challenges.

In his eyes, Shi Feiyang was clearly a master from the Orthodox Mysterious Sect, imbued with Merit Primordial Qi. If he could stay close to him, he would be able to safely pass through future calamities. Not only that, but he could also manipulate Shi Feiyang to develop more devil's children and grandchildren under his command. By then, he could find a way to emerge from the Demon Scripture, regain a physical body, and become a Demon King who ruled the world!

He swiftly made plans in his heart but remained very polite on the surface.

He knew that someone like Shi Feiyang, with profound Dao Level and a reverential admiration for Magic, was exceedingly rare. Fearing that exuding too much authority might scare or anger Shi Feiyang, causing him to abandon his studies and lose the opportunity to become a Demon King, he acted meekly.

He gently introduced Shi Feiyang to the perks of the Demon Path and the marvels of Magic, starting by criticizing the Buddhist and Daoist sects: "I disdain those Buddhist monks the most, claiming there's no such thing as 'self' in this world, that clinging to self is merely an illusion, striving to realize that all dharma lacks self—it's utterly absurd! I am me, how can I not exist? They also say all is impermanent, all that leaks is suffering, which is just nonsense!

Life and the universe, precisely because of their impermanence, undergo various changes. Children grow into adults, seeds germinate and blossom—if everything were constant, all things, grass, wood, stone, wind, rain, thunder, and heavenly bodies would remain unchanging, frozen in place. What fun would there be in that? To say all that leaks is suffering is downright foul-smelling. Suffering exists because we are not strong enough! As long as we're strong enough to dominate everything, there's no suffering but endless joy."

He had fought with monks for many years and suffered losses at the hands of the Absolute Venerable, which made his teeth itch whenever he spoke of it.

"As for the Daoist Sect, though it's much better than Buddhism, it's still not perfect, constantly demanding a clear and desirous heart, accumulating Essence Energy, and calculatingly cultivating Magical Treasures. All those external items—none compare to refining one's Primordial Spirit into a Divine Demon. We can fly to the heavens, move mountains and seas with no need for external aids—that's true joy!

We can also control the world and fate of others, make our enemies kneel and kowtow, make those we fancy flirt and eagerly vie for our affection—whatever we want to do, we can do. Fellow Daoist, your eagerness for the Demon Cult Great Technique proves you are suited to cultivate our Divine Skill!"

Listening with a smile, Shi Feiyang took out the "Red Lotus Demon Scripture" he had obtained from Qingluo Valley and a few Western Demon Cult Spells Wei Fengniang had acquired from Brooyinca, seeking advice from Ernst Fan.

Ernst Fan scoffed, "What nonsense... these aren't even worthy for you to cultivate! I have far superior and mysterious Demon Path Great Techniques to teach you."

He was about to start explaining the Demon Cultivation Technique.

Shi Feiyang stopped him, "This won't do, all sneaky. I prefer to conduct things openly and transparently. I want to see the Demon Scripture with my own eyes, then cultivate according to it."

Ernst Fan was troubled, seeing Shi Feiyang's upright spirit, he worried he might be a Righteous Path Sword Immortal, trying to seize the Demon Scripture to destroy it.

As a Divine Demon, he could usually peer into people's hearts, sensing their thoughts, but at that moment, he could detect nothing from Shi Feiyang.

He hesitated, "I have a Heavenly Demon Refining Great Technique here. Start cultivating with it. If you can achieve all nine levels of cultivation, we can meet again afterwards."

Shi Feiyang thought this demon was quite cautious, but he was prepared. The three Secret Demon Divine Shuttles in Wuyu's hands, although not yet fully refined, were about 70-80% complete. Once fully activated, their power could match that of a complete individual shuttle, with the overall control in this demon's hands. Therefore, he couldn't forcefully snatch it, but had to outsmart him.

He knew that once he began the Heavenly Demon Refining Great Technique, it would establish a mental connection with the demon, and upon completion, his Primordial Spirit would be bound.

However, he had his ways to counteract, so he appeared very pleased: "The Heavenly Demon Refining Great Technique, I have long heard of it and wanted to learn. Please don't hesitate to teach me!"

Ernst Fan, still worried Shi Feiyang might walk away angry, was thinking of other ways to keep him when he heard his willingness to learn, his heart blossomed with joy.
